A Very versatile online project management app
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an excellent blend of your typical Gantt chart project app and a spreadsheet. It is my go to option for Project Management, Task management, Workflow management & More. The ability to display your data on a calendar based on dates in the rows is beneficial. We use the workspace feature to create branded customer portals with multiple projects files located together. Also, the ability to build dashboards based on data from as many files as you wish is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
You may find the task-linking feature lacking if you are running a more complex project schedule. You can not combine a task precedence with a "fixed start date" or "start no sooner than" date. I find this limiting on occasion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I'm not sure what I'm what or how I want to lay it out, I always start with Smartsheet because of its versatility. I often use Smartsheet as the ultimate solution, so I don't have to rework it.
Great Tool to Help Automate Workflows!
What do you like best about the product?
The check's and balances with workflow. Often times the needs to be organization and how things are initiated and then once test got completed notification back to the requester that this has been completed. Smart sheet makes this process so easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not many things that I would say I dislike about smart sheet. I had never heard of the tool until I came to work at the University, and now I utilize it to streamline everything it has been such a help in my day-to-day task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Through smarty, we have been able to track long time changes and streamline workflows it otherwise would require the need for several extra hands to help fulfill commitments and complete the work
Solid online collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
Online spreadsheets with change monitoring, notification options, and good management and scripting options make this a solid tool for collaboration and group idea and data management. Provides tools for multiple sheet integrations, form data submission, as well as many other useful ways to collaborate and manage data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of ability to make separate sheets in the same workbook makes it challenging to manage some data and keep it together. Separate tabs need to be different sheets in Smartsheets, making it easier to lose track of which sheets are related. Managing and organizing smart sheets when you have a large number of them can be difficult as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A publically available central information management point makes Smart Sheet valuable for our teams. It allows for constant management, updating, and centrally locating data.
Great app but it will be better with certain features
What do you like best about the product?
Very intuitive for people who don't have much knowledge of Project Management. Therefore, it's easier to use on work assignments and coordination with the team.
What do you dislike about the product?
We constantly need to make reports to present on Joint Steering Committee meetings, such as general milestones/activities timeline. Smartsheet summary report is limited. The grid was move removable for the timeline bar on the right side, which makes the presentation not neat. I googled online and see if there is a way to work it out and saw lots of complaints about this. it would be great to have this feature.

I have just discovered all the ways Smartsheet can help me be more efficient.
What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot, but off the top of my head, I love that I can automate my entries to move to other shared Smartsheets. Specifically, I use SmartSheet for my tactical marketing plan at work and have set it up to move over details to others like marketing emails to my org's shared email calendar, assignments automatically move over to another smartsheet for our temp, and much more.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it had tabs like in Excel. Maybe there is a workaround for this, and perhaps I just don't understand all I can do with Smartsheet, but I still use Excel because of this. Also, I can only use Smartsheet with those who have an account, which once again has me using Excel in its place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's keeing me from doubling/tripling/quadrupling my work! It also keeps me organized. I love that I can automate my entries to move to other sheets. Before I knew I had this option, I would jump around sheet to sheet to fill in details.
Smartsheet Forms for Easy Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about smartsheets is the forms feature. It is simple to set up a form by either setting up your columns or adding and dragging options in the manage forms tab. I personally use forms to collect attendance at events, concerns/feedback, and vacation requests.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful thing about smartsheet in my experience is I cannot easily copy and paste my data into an excel file. I can export, but sometimes I want to only take a portion. I've learned I can use my shortcut keys, but I can't simply right click to copy/paste.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, smartsheet's integration of filters, forms, collaboration and workflows solves the issue of easily identifying data collected through QR codes to a smartsheet form, sharing that data, and setting up workflows to instantly be notified of new data.
I use Smartsheet everyday, love the customization
What do you like best about the product?
I have been able to customize Smartsheet for precisely what I need. I work in higher education and can use Smartsheet to track student attendance, makeup work, substitute teachers, etc. When my company didn't have any other platforms we could use for our needs, Smartsheet could be customized to meet those needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, the only downside is that I have so many active Smartsheets that I can easily lose track of them. I use the favorite feature in Smartsheet, but I find bookmarking the Smartsheets I use most to my browser works well for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If I didn't have Smartsheet, I wouldn't have a clean, cohesive way to track student absences in each Course we run and throughout the year. Sharing sheets with people and giving them view-only access helps as well.
Great tool for project management
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has been tremendously helpful to our internal project management flow. I love that Smartsheet is easy to use, constant opportunities to receive support/assistance from the Smartsheet team, and the ability to share sheets with internal and external collaborators. I also enjoy many of the automation features because they allow our team to keep track of tasks/projects and receive reminders of upcoming deadlines. The customization within Smartsheet makes it very beneficial even for the most novice user.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to see more literature on using more complex formulas. Overall, Smartsheet does a great job providing some literature and examples, but there have been times when I have struggled to implement a formula. Also, it would be nice to search within a sheet - the search feature does not work very well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project planning and management, in addition to task management, were issues within the team before the purchase of Smartsheet. The use of Smartsheet has allowed us the opportunity to stay organized, maintain a transparent schedule with collaborators, and schedule tasks with improved rates of meeting deadlines.
Smartsheet is perfect for the business setting
What do you like best about the product?
I like most that it allows more than one person to log in and collaborate. It is the perfect tool for a team of individuals to work together on something or to easily access and keep each other up to date on the latest.
What do you dislike about the product?
Something that I dislike about Smartsheet is that sometimes it can be hard to create a spreadsheet completely customizable like you can with an excel sheet. The formulas are nothing like they are with excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows us as a team to be able to log, track, manage, and easily view what tasks are left to get done. Who is doing them, and when they are getting done so the whole team is aware and can see when something is completed.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet provides an excellent organizational tool that is easy to adapt to suit your needs. We have a macro-heavy sheet for tracking workload and schedules. We also use smartsheet as an online excel substitute in cases, building out checklists, constraint logs, etc. The flexibility and collaborative asset is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
More of an organizational critique, editors of a sheet have access to the data, but only admins can adjust columns and headings. In many collaborative cases, adding columns is required to better categorize information. Most team members will add users as Editors by default, rather than Admins.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet provides a central source of information. For a weekly action meeting, we are able to use a unified document to keep track of what happened in the past, assign tasks accordingly, track dates, and more. Always knowing where to go for up to date info is critical, and Smartsheet is a huge help in that.
