Effective tool for onboarding and project tracking.
What do you like best about the product?
Many features mirror Excel, so it is easy to translate what actions are needed for the desired outcome (e.g., formulas, conditional formatting, and sorting). The workflows and sheet filters are easy to set up and tweak when needed, even for users with limited permissions. A history log is available for almost every change, so correcting errors or seeing where they came from is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be challenging to learn for those who may not be experienced with Excel. When several editors are active on a single sheet, there is no way to notify them when overwriting each other's rows. Cell changes are not autosaved or updated live, unlike workbooks in SharePoint. Not all changes made to a sheet can be viewed on a history log, and no version history is available to revert to a previous version in case of mistakes affecting the entire sheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows separate departments to collaborate on joint projects that require tracking, documents, and note-taking for archival. I can export the information to Excel for further analysis and provide clear communication to another side of the company while remaining remote.

What do you like best about the product?
Collaborating with other users has been far easier than with other platforms. As opposed to other spreadsheets, Smartsheets makes it quick and simple to share changes and updates to co-authored documents on a web based platform.
I also value the data I can store in the background (attachments). I can use sheets to document legacy data that would otherwise need to be referenced and stored in different data storage locations (cloud, local, etc.). The ability to recall that data quickly is a huge time saver.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would really like the addition of pages to individual sheets. As the documents grow, they can start to get pretty bloated. Being able to seperate out sections of data to different pages on the same document would help maintain document grownth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in industrial automation. The meta data for different operations and systems is constantly changing and evolving. I use Smartsheets to create live, up to date documents that can quickly be editied with changes made day to day.

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about smartsheets is automation. It helps me keep track of my different projects by being able to automate reminders and emails to fellow colleagues to update the sheet that needs to be addressed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more customization options for dashboards as far as different looks for the widgets. Also for using icons to gather feedback in a Smartsheet forms such as 5 star rating, I would like to be able to display an average of that on a dashboard, for example if the average is 4.2 stars we could display 4 completely filled stars and a star that is 0.2 partially filled in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently I am able to track our current work in Curriculum Development and display the combined work via a dashboard and there is minimal work involved in terms of updating the dashboard. Everything is being handled when the sheet is updated.

What do you like best about the product?
anybody can access it any time. the ability to upload from excel is good, but could be a bit better. The ability to see who has been in and made edits is very useful. usually i use smartsheet for tracking/collab and gaining feedback on ideas. I also use the kanban type function for my daily/weekly/mothly plannint
What do you dislike about the product?
the analytics capes are a little weak. I can do everything i can in excel which is fine, but i usually will go to tableau for visualizing more complex data. sometimes i also forget to save my edits and i lose them, but thats a minor thing most of the time since most of my work is actually done in excel
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i like to keep track of all my work in 1 place and let my boss and her boss have access to whats going on. its helpful also visually to see what i have on my plate represented in different ways.
Efficient Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I primarily use the product to produce a gant chart for my projects schedules. I like how intuitive the tool is to use and that it provides the ability to easily update my project as it tracks and develops. I often find myself updating the gant on a monthly basis and have become accustomed to using SmartSheets to get the job done.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it tough to start new projects. The interface in finding new projects could be more easily available. I often have to click through multiple pages to find the template I am looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping me keep my project schedule up-to-date which I distribute to my subcontractors. This helps me with keeping everyone on track with the project and ensure that we are maintaing the progress needed on the project.
The better tool for sheets and dashboards that doesn't require IT
What do you like best about the product?
I love the feature of adding attachments and proofs to individual lines of a sheet, as well as comments across shared users. This allows my team to track documentation pertaining to specific items or events, along with signatures that are traceable enough for our current regulations. We use a Kanban board to track team and individual progress on projects, which has been very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are limitations when dealing with larger datasets, and being able to display dashboards effectively does take some training and skill (but the help forum is great).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking documents and records that are specific to an individual item or event, along with approval signatures for those records. Our QMS system can do some of this, but it doesn't keep it nearly as organized as Smartsheet does.
Smartsheet has brought us many efficiencies and helped us move away from email communication
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the freedom that comes in being able to create sheets as you see fit. I love creating new documents that use different column types, such as dropdown lists and symbols. It's also a great tool to create standardization. I really enjoy restricting values for drop down list to ensure the output of our documents is standard across the board. Our larger team also enjoys the visibility brought by setting up automated email rules.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love the ability to download a sheet, edit it, and import it back in. I've tested this before but noticed that importing puts it into a new document. There's also some minor features I'd like to see such as the ability to merge cells or hide rows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has helped us manage workflow. We have a specific process where the larger team is able to fill out a form to give us all information necessary to complete a specific task. This also gives the team visibility into our progress as we work to complete the task. If there are any issues we also use Smartsheet to communicate if any information is missing. We also use Smartsheet as a secondary spreadsheet program, on top of excel. We generate files that create standard names for our creative assets.
Smartsheet is very good value for the money
What do you like best about the product?
I like the simple format and ability to change it ourselves. I like how the data connects to many different report opportunities (making it possible to customize for different user needs).
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like customer support after the initial setup. The free service is complicated. The paid for service is only available in large chunks that are tied to a time limit. I wish it was easier to get help and provide a service for paid help in smaller increments (such as pay for what we need).

Smartsheet is keeping out company organized and contributing to a central data set. This focuses us on the same specific goals.

I like the fact that its based on a spreadsheet like design and helps in creating spaces where teams can collaborate and assign tasks and actions to. I like the fact that it has multiple integrations that can help in bringing in data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it slower in comparision to working with Excel and PowerQuery/ PopwerBI
I think I can work faster with excel with formulas as compared to smartsheet. For me, smartsheet is reserved more if I just want to create a basic tracking log and share it with other people. I still need to figure out the "smart" in smartsheet. For any advanced data handling etc, I have to move over to excel or powerquery.

Allows basic spreadsheets to be created, and shared with teams, create spaces specific to tasks.
Powerful platform for project management and data analysis
What do you like best about the product?
The most valuable part of Smartsheet is the way you can import, process, and share data in a huge variety of ways. Being able to integrate metrics into project management and create custom dashboards is great for efficiency and planning.
What do you dislike about the product?
The wealth of features also brings in a fair amount of complexity. We ended up hiring a specialist to get Smartsheet to do everything we knew it was capable of. Also, the spreadsheet-like interface doesn't always behave the way one would expect it too (i.e., like Excel).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary problem Smartsheet is solving is our previous inability to customize project management and integrate data. Smartsheet was also the only platform that satisfied the requirements of all departments, enabling previously impossible levels of sharing and collaboration.
