This tool has made my team more productive
What do you like best about the product?
As a remote team in talent development, working with multiple stakeholders, Smartsheet has been a game-changer for us. It has helped us streamline our project management process and collaborate more effectively with our stakeholders.
One of the most significant benefits of Smartsheet is its collaboration features. With its real-time collaboration tools, we can work with stakeholders from different locations simultaneously. This has eliminated the need for endless back-and-forth emails and phone calls, which can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating.

What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet has a somewhat steep learning curve and comes across as quite complex. It also has some limitations as far as customization goes, and can easily become overrun with items, notifications, and to do lists. Some of the integrations weren't as helpful as I'd like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet shines for my team in a few ways:
1) When working in a remote team, we can see live updates from each other and communicate in real-time as we work
2) It allows us to involve stakeholders in various talent management processes, such as goal setting, individual development plans, and competency model reviews
3) The way we manage projects and develop trainings involves many steps, this helps us make sure we don't miss details and decreases the amount of emails/other conversations needed

Makes Boring Things Way Easier and More Fun!
What do you like best about the product?
The training that comes with Smartsheet is really helpful. Also, it is super easy to arrange and display information in a way that is understandable to most people.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the most complicated thing about Smartsheet is explaining what it does to people who are not familiar with it. Saying "oh, I made a Smartsheet of that" and then trying to explain why it was in that format rather than in something like Excel or Word makes people roll their eyes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of Quality Assurance events whose outcomes and investigations are doled out to various people. It is really easy to track all the events and who is responsible for them in real time without having multiple copies of documents floating around.
Best decision we ever made
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has allowed our organization to be organized and has centralized all our customer projects. This tool amplified the best of MS Projects with dashboards and reports. Our customer-facing project site allows us to effectively and efficiently communicate with our customers. We have since expanded the user of the tool to also manage our SDLC and our internal corporate initiatives.
What do you dislike about the product?
Resource management integration is not as easy as we would like. It is a complicated tool and it would be nice if it was a more seamless integration with Smarsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication with customers, project visibility, and collaboration with customers. Centralized location for all things related to the project. Visibility to the organization of work being done by our onboarding team. Workflows to accommodate change management, staff requests, and escalated projects.
Easy to use with multiple functionalities
What do you like best about the product?
I love that it brings a lot of the functionalities of an excel or project to the web and in a very collaborative way.
In our company, we use it for project management (gantt chart + executive dashboard) as well as for project estimates, product development pipeline management, etc.
It really changed the way we are able to work together.
I also love that it's easy to integrate with other reporting tools, like power BI.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was a bit easier to build spreadsheet-like documents. Being a fully web based product, it has some limitations when compared to excel, but overall, we can't complain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative project management - the project manager sets up the gantt chart with tasks, assigns them to people who then can update their tasks collaboratively. The project manager can always have the most up to date view of the project.
The weekly reviews with the customer are also greatly simplified, as we use the dashboard (based on the gantt chart) as a basis for discussion with the customers.

Fantastic project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
The collaberation is the most important part of smartsheet, being able to keep essential stakeholders and clients alike in on the loop of specific milestones whilst being able to keep the seperate is a huge boon to any project management role.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue that I have with smartsheet is that you cant have multiple tabs in each sheet, its down to creating seperate sheets or linking them in, being able to have tabs to scroll would be more useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem it solves is again communication, something is changed in smartsheet? Let all appropriate people know through automation. It benefits me as I dont have to spend time keeping people up to date with milestones usually it is just done for me.

For my job, the ability to set predecessors and dependencies in smart sheets is critical for my work. I live and breathe in these timelines each day.

having a hard time coming up with something here :) if I had to think of something, I feel the app could be improved to be more functional but really love everything your software offers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheets allows my team and myself to track projects that have many steps within steps. The best thing it allows us to do is to adjust a timeline and the subsequent tasks are then updated. Dependencies is my best friend!
Excellent multiple use program
What do you like best about the product?
I love that there are so many uses and that multiple people can contribute to each Smartsheet. We use it as ongoing meeting agendas, task lists, and more. I personally like it better than any other programs due to the amount of different uses
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve with Smartsheet. There are so many capabilities, however, I still feel like I am not utilizing it to it's full potential. It would be great if it were a bit more intuitive.

Smartsheet is making it easier for our team to collaborate and work through projects together. It keeps us organized and holds everyone accountable since the task list is visible for everyone to see.
Trying to Make Excel Work? Consider Smartsheets Instead.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has all the essential functionalities of Microsoft Excel: add values from separate cells or sheets together, calculate dates, add and subtract rows/columns, hide values you need to work "in the background" add conditional formatting, etc. What Smartsheet doesn't have is all of the confusing little features that make excel an excellent tool for accounting and generating reports. What makes it more than an easier-to-use version of Microsoft Excel is that it's online. Dozens of people can collaborate on a single file without you having to save it on the server and ensure that no one else has it open. Are you building a schedule that requires all sorts of people to coordinate the efforts to meet a deadline? Are you making a checklist of tasks that need to be addressed before a project can go to print? That's exactly what Smartsheet is for.

Like similar tools, there is a bit of a learning curve to Smartsheet. Thankfully, many of the formulas in the similar tools you are leaving behind when picking Smartsheet have equivalents built in. You'll find that many of the formulas you'd use in Microsoft Excel carry over, for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Previously, my team and I tracked which files we received from our vendors via an Excel sheet shared among our team. Excel is terrific for calculating prices, but sometimes, it's just not user-friendly - especially if you only touch the program occasionally. Certain things about Excel make it clear it's meant more for accounting than creating schedules and checklists. The sheet I developed already had a built-in spot to attach snapshots, a place to save and have conversations about each row. Cells were easily converted to drop-down menus and checkboxes (of various styles) to track where each aspect of the project was. Best of all, it's online. No more having to open a file and wait until whoever had it opened last is done with it. We can have several people working on it simultaneously - a huge time saver. That's just the beginning. Building schedules is the real benefit of Smartsheet. If rows of dates sound intimidating, you can change your view to a more digestible calendar view - among others - making it user-friendly even for those who don't know the program's inner workings. It really is a game-changer.
Maximizing Productivity
What do you like best about the product?
The platform flexibility, ease of use and scaleability make this tool a must-have for any business. It is easy to share access to the sheets with teammates for collaboration. We also like having cloud based sheets that we can embed through our various other platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve to acclimate to a new platform and the similarities between Smartsheet and Excel can be difficult for new users to navigate. Especially if they are not well versed in Excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has created one source where we can collaborate as a team, we embed the sheets on our intranet, link the URLs, use it as a training calendar and some teams are using it for task management. Keeping information in a central spot and utilizing the forms option has been great for our team.
Using Smartsheet in a cross functional workspace
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet allows our company to share data and workflows across multiple teams, with functions like email notifications to drive action. It also makes it easy to check tasks and work on projects even when you don't have your work computer in front of you, even allowing you to share sheets with people outside your organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's easy to become overwhelmed if you have dozens of Smartsheets shared with you, and each sheet has email notifications. It would be nice if there was a way to consolidate notifications on the home page or set up an action item center. Additionally, if sheet owners or employee managers had a way to see outstanding tasks for their subordinates, it could drive production.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows us to assign multilevel tasks to employees and drive the workflow using email notifications. The notification system can remind workers that due dates are coming up.
