Smartsheet is Way More Useful Than I Imagined
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Smartsheet is the logic option when building out a form. Meaning, if you select on an option in a question in the form, then you can set parameters for an optional selection or input field for the form. For example, in a contact form, sometimes you want people to select which way they want to be contacted. If you create a checkbox field and the checkboxes have options like, "phone, email, physical mail" and an end user that fills out the form selects one of these options, then an input field will then populate to ask for their phone number, email, or physical address. I like the logic because it cleans up the form tremendously so the end user isn't overwhelmed by a big form. I also like it because it then takes all the input and sends it into a spread sheet for easier management of data. You can also set the speadsheet or form to notify different users attached to your account when data was entered so they know if someone filled it out and they need to fill it out. I also enjoy that there's a lot of support, there's videos, QA's section to help learn these items. It really helped me speed up the "build out" of my forms so that I can be really efficient with my time, but my employees so they didn't have to worry about the backend of the form, they just sent out the link to the form, and are able to see real life submissions on a spreadsheet. I like that it has more back end options for the front end user and it also has more options then other online solutions that i've tried. I also like that you can build out the form and resize each input field. A lot of other online solutions don't let you do that.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's only a few things I don't like about smartsheets. I don't enjoy the price. I understand that it's a business, but I think it's a little pricey, however, I do see the benefits, which is why we're willing to expense it. The other is that I wish the front end of the form builder was more editable, meaning, I wish we could resize input fields more freely. There's only set parameters so it's limiting to the aesthetic and look of how I want a form. I've also found that embedding the a smartsheet form can be a little quirky, particularly in wordpress because that's the web tool I use. In stead of embedding the form, I just redirect to the link of the form, but I wish there was better utilization and buildout of embedding for smartsheet forms, particularly when you start building out a huge form.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is solving how collect data from users. We use smartsheet primarily for forms with input fields and those are normally built out to represent a survey or Q&A sort of response. It helps us utilize the spreadsheet to sort thru received data and be able to share it with staff. We also use smartsheet to manage projects and other various tasks. It's helping solve efficiency to get more done at a faster rate, rather then a paper system that then needs to be converted to digital and then shared.
Smartsheet will keep you organized!
What do you like best about the product?
I love the fact that Smartsheet will keep you organized, no matter how large your team is. The alerts I receive of upcoming conferences are perfect and help kick-off Conference meetings, lets our team know who is attending what, what we need...all the elements that go into not only attending a conference but also sponsoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing! In my opinion (coming from a world where Google Docs was king), Smartsheet is my personal pick and can keep everything on track, running smoothly, and allows one to sleep at night!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Conference season - it allows us to keep track of what groups are attending the various conferences and if their marketer needs to do anything extra for them (assist with registrations, etc.). Also, if we need change an attendee out, it's a simple edit.
Great for collaborating with clients.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes it easy to share information with a large group of people within our business and with external clients. The reporting features make creating and maintaining Dashboards effortless.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is missing a few fomula functionalities that would be very helpful such as a Time function. In order to capture a specific time that a row is changed you have to send it to another sheet then use a vlookup formula to bring it back.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is driving internal programs that deal with general housekeeping and safety. It also helps with time management and tracking employee tasks. We have Smartsheets specific to all of our clients that allow us to find issues and solve them in a timely manner.
Versatile and Helpful
What do you like best about the product?
I started using Smartsheet when I was new to sales operations. Through the templates and tutorials, I quickly elevated my skills and standing in the company. The colorful, adaptive dashboards helped me tell the story behind the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few, though not many, features I'm used to in Excel don't translate to Smartsheet. While there are general workarounds, sometimes it is difficult to keep different processes in mind as I work in the different environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet to manage our company-wide go-to-market planning process. Smartsheet's collaborative features allow my team and our peers in other organizations work together and stay on track.
Up and coming essential platform
What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like the most about Smartsheet is how easy it is to use. The trainings were very insightful and let me use the application easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the email notifications as unless you title your project schedule specifically, it is hard to tell what the notification is for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is solving the problems of project schedules moving along and keeping projects on track. As well as holding all team members accountable for ensuring their work is completed on time.
Smartsheet is Excel on Steroids.
What do you like best about the product?
Collaborative workspace: Smartsheet offers a collaborative environment where team members can work together in real-time. Multiple users can access and edit sheets simultaneously, enabling seamless collaboration, discussing project details, and making updates in real-time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some users may find Smartsheet overwhelming or complex, particularly if they are unfamiliar with project management software or spreadsheet-like interfaces. Additionally, the pricing structure of Smartsheet's premium plans can be a deterrent for small teams or individuals on a tight budget
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet provides a flexible and customizable platform for managing projects of all sizes and complexities. It allows me to create project plans, set timelines, assign tasks, and track progress, making it easier to collaborate and stay organized.
Easy to get started & good value, some project functionality is limited
What do you like best about the product?
Since works like simple version of MS Project it feels very familar, but is much better for online & collaborative working. Like the fact it uses excel type formulas.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the dependency and the baseline functionality is a little basic and requires slightly clunky workarounds at times. Would like the ability to build a timeline graphic.

Collaboration & tracking of multiple projects. Project intake requests as well as forum for ideas & queries.
Smartsheet: Some benefits over Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet allows me to create sheets and share them with colleagues while easily controlling the level of permissions I want them to have in the sheet as a user.
It's also much easier to create dropdown controls in a Smartsheet workspace when compared to creating and referencing cells in Excel.

What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet does not use/allow identical formula language as Excel, which would allow direct exports from existing sheets.
You cannot resize column 1 as a user despite being able to resize the other columns, so it always takes up space on the screen.
Having to relearn how Smartsheet handles some of it's advanced processes can be tedious, so there are still many times I will simply create a file in Excel.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration across multiple files is improved with Smartsheet. Files don't get lost, and there aren't 10 versions of an Excel sheet clunking around to get people confused.
Simple and easy to use with lots of great features
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very user-friendly and can be modified to your specifications. It is simple for many people to share and update the same sheets as needed. It has been an excellent tool for our smaller team to share information, and I would definitely recommend.
What do you dislike about the product?
For our purposes, there have not been any real drawbacks to using Smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing information effectively with the team in a smooth and efficient manner with less overlap.
Smartsheet is a useful, quick and easy-to-use means of planning a project.
What do you like best about the product?
The way steps in a project can be linked together and easily adjusted. If the timescale for a given step changes, it can be adjusted with all other related steps changing automatically. I also like the reminders to save work!
What do you dislike about the product?
Most users will be familiar with Excel spreadsheets. It would be better if the tools and shortcuts available in Excel could be available in Smartsheet too. That would make it a more familiar tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It avoids the need to create complex Project Plans on Excel or other applications, which would require careful review when adjusting timeframes and thus would risk making errors easily.
