Nice tool for collaboration and data management
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Smartsheet is you can create clean datasets and dashboards with inputs from multiple collaborators, while still functioning largely in a similar way to Excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
The list of available charts is missing some useful ones like a waterfall chart. It can also be difficult to reference cells on different worksheets in formulas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need an easy way to track metrics across our different projects. With Smartsheets, I can pull data from multiple sources to create dashboards that anyone in the company can access.
Great collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
Easy for everyone to access the same Smartsheet. There are never issues with the file being locked or many people using the same SmartSheet simultaneously. I love how cells can instantly be highlighted when changing the status. It is much better than Excel for collaboration.
What do you dislike about the product?
They do take time to build initially. I have not looked into any templates for starters, but I believe they need to be modified to get the SmartSheet exactly how we need it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickly see who is assigned to what task. It is a great communication tool that is easy to update and keep current. It is also easy to share with partners outside of my company for cross-collaboration.
User friendly and very customizable.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the background integration with an "excel" type format. It is very user-friendly for people of all experience levels and can be tailored easily to different people and roles.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to have a little more options in terms of pop-ups or reminders when something is changed or edited between reports or sheets that isn't necessarily sending to an email.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is my teams main form of scheduling for the Engineering staff and the floor staff. It allows every member of our team to have their own schedule view while still collaborating on each project.
The best work-tracking program I've ever used!
What do you like best about the product?
After tracking my daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual work projects on everything from sticky notes to binders to a very crash-prone spreadsheet, I'm so happy that my team decided to switch to Smartsheet. Beyond how easy it is for me to stay organized and not let anything slip through the cracks/cells, I also love how transparent Smartsheet is. Before using it, I always felt that no one could appreciate everything I was responsible for in my role and how much I was accomplishing, even my manager. Now, I know that everyone can see how much I deserve my PTO and a big raise! ;-)
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the hardest thing about the transition to Smartsheet for me is that it did take me longer than I thought it would to transition to using it as intuitively as I wanted to. Once I got the hang of it, I was off and running, but there was a greater learning curve than I expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solves the issue of a lack of transparency regarding my own project load and workflow and those of my teammates. Basically, it solves the issue of siloing for my team. It also makes my workflow much more efficient in terms of bringing other collaborators and stakeholders in on projects and key intervals.
Great for process improvement on Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to automate simple parts of a project management process, making it achievable by people who don't know how to code. We've automated how some emails would go out in M&A projects and it saved us a lot of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would be interested in using a scripting language to automate some processes even further and to also be able to customize some things further. For Example, when we get a form entry and want an email to go out, some of the automation could be further customized if we had typescript to help us parse a string or something like that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping all the communication from our projects in one place. It gets much easier to revisit what we talked about when instead of emails, IMs, and other forms of communications, we are able to go back to one sheet and see all the comments in there.

What do you dislike about the product?
There's no function to archive reports to enable trend analysis.
When rows are automatically moved to another sheet Smartsheet does ot delete the blanks and when new rows are added, they are added at the bottom in the source sheet.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets automations and workflow tools have revolutionized the way we do business! These are features that we have come to rely on and as we grow as company, I am getting more and more requests to add new Smartsheets!
What do you dislike about the product?
The customer service is horrible. The sales team was helpful during the decision making process but it is virtually impossible to get decent help from the support team. Thankfully, there are LOTS of videos online and I can usually figure it out but I should be able to ask a support member as time is precious. Spending hours to find answers can be extremely frustruating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to develop custom workflows that can be reported on have made it easy for the team to know what they are responsible for. It also helps management to easily see the work assigned to a resource and if they are doing what is expected. It also allows for alerts to be sent when KPIs are not being met so management only needs to look at certain things when there are issues OR when there are high goals met so we can congratulate the team!

-I wish Smartsheet had a more robust schedule-building structure, with gantt charts and predecessors

Solving silo'd workflows, lack of organized intake forms, lack of transparency and seamless communication, lack of collaboration between teams and clients, transparency for client using dashboards and reporting.

Unlike Google Sheets, it doesn't support multiple tabs within a single view, which can make it challenging to connect specific trackers for the same project. Additionally, not all conditional formatting options are available, and there might be inconsistencies when importing data from Sheets.

- Not as flexible as Excel when formatting/laying out cells
