Powerful with limitations
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a very powerful tool with a wide range of functionalities. The help resources like Smartsheet University and the online forums are extremely useful. It is invaluable to share access to a Smartsheet with a non-licensed user and have them receive email notifications and interact with sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are limitations to the tool that have impacted my ability to implement it in certain ways. The major limitation is that you cannot automate the creation of hierarchies within or across sheets. This impacts my ability to track long-living projects with differing parameters without creating hundreds of separate sheets for each project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross-functional communication, information parity, and documentation are a few of the significant problems Smarsheet helps my organization solve. Our ability to react quickly and avoid mistakes has increased.
Smartsheet Collaboration Station
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a versatile and powerful tool that can handle any type of project, from simple to-do lists to complex strategic plans. Smartsheet has a robust security and compliance system that ensures my data is safe and protected.
What do you dislike about the product?
For being similar to other spreadsheet programs, it lacks the ability to customize in a useful way. Like if you need to change a cell, you basically have to start over. I find it difficult to customize the columns, filters, formulas and conditional formatting to suit my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of projects that multiple users can view. Updates instantly. Informs when other users make changes in the sheet. Less miscommunication.
Smart Experience on Smartsheets
What do you like best about the product?
I love that you can set alerts, reminders on the sheets you create and the forms you develop through smartsheets. It's a very handy feature when you want to collect responses and want to be notified of them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Filters. I think Smartsheets has overly complicated filters. I like the filter that's on Google Sheets. It's easy, and everyone's view of the sheet is unaffected even if you filter it. On Google Sheets, you can choose "filter for only me." I would like that feature for Smartsheets,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solved the problem that I had with Google Forms. When you develop a form on smartsheets, you can choose to be notified, a feature that comes in handy. As an HR person looking after employee & consultant contracting requests, it is difficult to track who has sent in a new request on Google Forms. Smartsheets helped me eliminate that problem by enabling notifications each time there was an entry to the form I developed.
A great platform, I could just use some more training
What do you like best about the product?
I like the multitude of tools that smartsheet offers. It helps with project management, task assignment, customer communications, and overall organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know if the platform has kinks to work out or if I just wasn't given enough training, but there are functionalities that I still don't know how to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a company-wide problem of task assignment and accountability. Smartsheet helps us to stay organize and makes sure things don't fall through the cracks.
Smartsheet has been a key resource for our races and events.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very easy to use. We love the file storage and the unlimited amount of users you can invite to view your sheets. While we don't use Smartsheet the traditional way with task assignments and event management, the ability to store, share, and turnover events from year to year has really helped our race team stay organized, and have a central place to go to for all of our important event information.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to share every sheet we create every time with every user has been the one thing that stands out the most. When we create a new workbook we constantly have to invite the same people over and over again to view this new sheet. It would be nice if you could just add in the users you want to view the entire account as an option instead of having to invite them to every sheet individually. Also the sheets don't always auto save like they do on Google.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is solving the issue of us having so many resources in different places for our events. Since we have 16 or more people working on these events at one time having all these files everywhere has made tough to organize all of our documents in one place and at the same time have a place to communicate about these documents.

I continue to be impressed with Smartsheet's functionality, flexibility, and user-friendliness. Its versatile templates, robust time tracking tools, and automation capabilities have helped significantly streamline our processes. It saves us valuable hours with an intuitive layout that provides real-time notifications of project progress and any necessary adjustments along the way. In addition, this platform is an exclusive solution for business projects that require efficiency and measurability, with an adaptable architecture that allows for changes even after launch.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the steep learning curve associated with Smartsheet, which can cause potential users to lose interest before they have a chance to try it out. To ensure that new users understand how to best use and benefit from this program, I suggest providing how-to videos on the homepage so people can easily learn how it works and quickly start using the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Smartsheet, our team is able to keep track of tasks, monitor progress, and easily communicate updates. We no longer have to worry about miscommunication or missed deadlines because it gives us real-time status tracking so we can act quickly.
Smartsheet simplifies project management
What do you like best about the product?
I like using Smartsheet because it is user-friendly, cost effective, and has a variety of powerful business intelligence tools. There's no need for technical expertise or complex scripts - it works just like Excel with the added bonus that files can be easily shared both internally and externally without requiring anyone involved in the project management process to install additional software. In addition, its performance exceeds all expectations when compared to other similar programs, making Smarsheet my go-to tool when I have a project on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have found real-time updates in Smartsheet to be a source of frustration, as they often obscure any recent adjustments. This is especially annoying when multiple people are editing at the same time, as it causes rows to move unexpectedly and can require an inordinate amount of adjustment if you want complete control over the document.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet saves me a lot of time with its automated alerts and notifications. I don't have to check my projects as frequently because updates are sent directly to me based on the criteria I set.
Easy to learn, easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes project and portfolio management much easier for an organization that has never had these practices in place before. The Smartsheet team helped us develop our blueprints to match our process, which was very helpful for a bunch of newbies. Smartsheet is very logical and easy to learn. It's also great that there's such a big community around it, and any question you have has likely already been answered and can be found with a quick Google search. I learned tons from Youtube, even! Pro Desk is usually pretty helpful, too, though it sometimes takes a bit to get the best person to help on the phone (the more complicated the issue, the longer it takes to find a person that can help).
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, Smartsheet is Dumbsheet. Basic functionality that feels like it should exist doesn't always exist. For example, the ability to group and minimize columns does not exist, though you can do it with rows. Seems simple, but I suppose it isn't. I get a bit annoyed with our Smartsheet support team sometimes, though, as my contacts change so frequently that I can never keep track of who to contact.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allowed us, for the first time ever, to consolidate our list of projects across our global organization into one project portfolio. Additionally, it allowed us to give each of these project teams the tools and support they needed to be more effective in delivering successful projects.
Smartsheet for the win
What do you like best about the product?
There are so many useful functions in Smartsheet. In my current position, we are using Smartsheet as trackers. We have a tracker that is used across multiple departments. I also use it to track data from different processes. I enjoy how easy it is to filter the data, and also, the automatic workflow makes everything so much easier and creates easy workflows. Additionally, I think being able to summarize the data in the Smartsheet is also one of the super helpful functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I don't think Smartsheet is the easiest as a beginner. I know there are so many functions and possibilities, but it can be a little hard to gain a quick overview, especially with no experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is providing an easy overview of the data. This can be numbers but also tasks and timelines. I have build multiple automatic workflows which is my position is extremely helpful.
Project Management Game Changer
What do you like best about the product?
Team-wide, cross-project, resource loading allows you to manage resources at a portfolio level, highlighting overallocated resources at a glance. The dashboards have made status updates and generating meeting minutes much more efficient. The main differentiator from other PMIS tools is that non-licensed users can still view, comment, and edit native files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Certain features are not quite there yet, although they always introduce updates, and you can make requests. To extract the most value out of Smartsheet you need to purchase additional modules and get custom integration done.

Smartsheet enables us to perform real-time resource management across our project portfolio and the various project teams. It highlights overallocated resources the moment you assign them to a task they don't have the capacity for.
