Experience Using Smartsheet as a Project Manager at Boston Children's Hospital
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about using Smartsheet is the ability to share spreadsheets with my work colleagues in a safe and secure manner that is supported by our IT team. Is is a lot better than e-mailing excel spreadsheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
The part I dislike about Smartsheet is the training involved in unlocking some of the more advanced features. I am very familiar with Microsoft Excel, and some of the minor differences between the two services sometimes throw me for a loop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows me to share data or work tasks in a safe in secure manner. Before Smartsheet, I would either have to e-mail spreadsheets or keep communication in e-mail. Smartsheet provides the ability to have a dynamic work environment that is accessible to all members of our staff.

What do you like best about the product?
It's such a simple way to display information and keep everything organised and in one place. Really helpful when collaborating with teams, expecially those who are in other regions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes find the interface a little bit clunky and not so attractive when I'm trying to display information. Would like to see more flexibility in the options of display.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps to manage schedules for complex projects that require multiple workstreams, colleagues, and tasks to happen in tandem. It displays and organises this information in a great way.
Team efficiency & connectivity
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has helped our team centralize all frequently shared documents and helped us be more efficient in everyday tasks. After adopting the system a year ago as our one source of truth, we keep finding new ways to streamline and use the automated functions. We are still learning and finding new ways to operate as our events industry changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have a lot of seasonal staff, so getting them up to speed quickly can be a challenge and then transferring over accounts constantly, so our staff is all in different stages of learning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to share information quickly & real time in our own team in a hybrid working environment post COVID, but also be able to collaborate with numerous event partners and sponsors all over the world.
An easy way to make sure everyone is up-to-date
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is really helpful because it means everyone is accessing the most up-to-date data and information. For example, if a deadline is pushed out, by using a Smartsheet (as opposed to a traditional spreadsheet), everyone will automatically be working with this new deadline (and can be notified of it) without having to make sure individual records are up-to-date. Also, as an employee with multiple managers, it allows everyone to easily see my workload and tasks, which again can be updated in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organising sheets are a bit tricky. I tend to just use my 'suggested' as I use these most often, or search for the specific smartsheet I want to work on, but it would be good if there was a way (or perhaps a more obvious way) to organise smartsheets into fodlers etc. for organisational purposes. I also think the 'linking cells' options is not very user-friendly, especially for those that find equations etc. difficult. it would be good if there was a way to just easily transport a column from one sheet to another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, having multiple managers means that they are not always aware of the work I am being assigned by the others. Smartsheet makes it easy for them to log my work in one spoace, which not only alllows me to easily view my various responsibilities and deadlines, but also more importantly, so my managers can keep track of how much work I'm being assigned and stop me from being overloaded.
Very useful for project management, data entry, organisation and display.
What do you like best about the product?
The view options in the sheets allowing calandar view are great, also the gantt chart sheet functions and templates are very helpful, much better than tying to do it in excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no automated sort function on the standard list sheet however using the report functions allow you to generate sorted lists with ease. It would be better if there was an automated list sort available in the workflow which could be triggered by adding or changing a column.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating accurate project time lines which allows us to report progress clearly and and forecast finishing dates well. This allows the customer to see the value in the planning as well as the work.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Smartsheet is that it is user-friendly and easy to understand for any new user familiar with MS Excel.
The dashboard does its job well; automation adds more value to this product and makes it a unique tool compared to other products in the market.

What do you dislike about the product?
As a user of Excel, we expect those features in there as sometimes it becomes a little frustrating to adjust the row height and manage access rights.
Sometimes we have to use multiple sheets, and I saw downtime during that, making it to use a single sheet at a time.
While Smarthseet provides a range of templates and pre-built solutions, we sometimes feel restricted with customization options, and I believe there is room to improve.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helped in tracking of projects, managing and improved reporting within organization and between teams. Repetitive tasks can be automated and it saved a lot of time for us to focus on other tasks. Overall Smarthseet proven to be very beneficial for us.

That I can customize as much as I want, I have been able to create a portal for my production so there is information available for everyone involved.

What do you dislike about the product?
The change made for attachments, I don't like that now they must be downloaded to print them . I prefer the old way.

Its making easier to coolaborate on our production process and accounting, we can centralize information so all parties involved have the latest updates on all statuses and needs

What do you like best about the product?
Navigating project management becomes a breeze with Smartsheet. It smoothly integrates task allocation, progress tracking, and important deadline scheduling within an intuitive platform. A boon for any business, indeed.

For those new to project management software, Smartsheet's depth of features could seem daunting initially. The added costs for unlocking more functionalities might also be a deterrent for small-scale businesses or start-ups.

When it comes to effective project management, Smartsheet emerges as a potent tool. Keep in mind, though, the initial learning phase and the possible extra expenses for accessing additional features.

Once you have a handle on how it works, it becomes simple to achieve the goal you are trying to reach. The consultants at Smartsheet are always available to meet and discuss issues I am having in the moment.

At the moment Smartsheet does not support the input of time very well. I had to develope alternatives to achieve this in my projects.

For anyone looking to streamline project management, Smartsheet is a compelling option. Be prepared, though, to invest time in mastering the tool and to potentially incur additional costs for more features. But all in all, it's an excellent tool!
