Smartsheet, Updated Excel for a new generation
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has so many functions, you can use it instead of having a POM team. It allows you to share seemlessly with others and also collaborate. This function alone is exceptionable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost, and you have to add on in order to use the full spectrum. Excel and Google Sheets is free and I understand that this much more robust, but it should be for the masses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows the many different users to filter for there specific needs. You can also create or use a template of workflows that decrease your work hours but increases your productivity.
Decent application that is very useful for working on projects
What do you like best about the product?
I like that sheets / workspaces are live and so can be viewed and edited by multiple people all at once with no version control required. I really like the dahsboards you can create which makes it very easy to track progress across multiple areas of my projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like the fact that you cannot have multiple tabs for a sheet. You also cannot add features such as bullet points within individual cells. I also do not like the auto save feature as sometimes you want to undo some work but it is already too late as the sheet has already saved your changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is helping me to track multiple areas of my projects, such as financial tracking, progress with tasks and project stages, RACI logs can also be tracked well with SS.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to setup data just like you would in Excel but then be able to build dashboards to showcase it with different permission levels and restrictions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that some of the formula functions are slightly different than in using Excel. I'd like for the formulas to work the same way (when writing them). I think there is also an opportunity with improving formatting fuctions. It still seems very limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows you to track data and projects and be able to build out dashboards that can help showcase the work you have done. Performance hasn't necessarily increased, but it has helped with staying more organized.

What do you like best about the product?
I like all the options in Smartsheet, from building documents, creating workspaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how you have to filter data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to create a workspace and invite people from outside of our organization to contribute while maintaining our HIPAA protocols.
Great for team collaborators on work management and change control
What do you like best about the product?
I love the great varieties of templates that Smartsheet provides and the handful of automation built-in each sheet for work management. It is so efficient to create alerts or reminders for new changes on the sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
As the admin, we don't have the flexibility to transfer the ownership of individual sheets to different people that used to be owned by deactivated users. It would be great if we can choose from selected ones for offboarding.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet cannot deactivate users until 3 months ago. This is a great feature in that we can temporarily deactivate the user and then properly reassign the ownership until we feature things out.
Better than a normal spreadsheet!
What do you like best about the product?
It is very user friendly, intuitive, and versatile. I appreciate that the Smartsheet Community is always helpful in solving problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few workflows that require workarounds because of their sequence and timing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides a way to track tasks among an office of 100+ employees. It automates so much of the workflow and reporting. It is a huge time saver!

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has been an incredible tool for me. I have been using Smartsheet for about four years now, and it has helped me build processes/procedures that have driven efficiencies in my work. One of my favorite things about Smarthset is the cell-linking feature. It's allowed me to create a series of comprehensive files that auto-update, so I don't have to worry about updating several different files and potentially missing one!
What do you dislike about the product?
The one downside I have found with Smartsheet is the auto-save feature when multiple users are editing one file at the same time. I've found that sometimes my data entry will not actually save, as Smartsheet seems to have trouble saving multiple users' data entry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest issue that Smartsheet has solved for me is reducing repetitive data entry. With cell-linking, I am able to enter information into a single file and link it to other files, so I can rest easy knowing that all my files have the most accurate, up-to-date information without the hassle of writing the same data over and over again. The main benefit I have seen from Smartsheet is that I have more time to prioritize other tasks, rather than a large portion of my job solely being data entry/data management.
Use Smartsheets for customer order updates.
What do you like best about the product?
It works very well with excel. Simple copy and paste. Also like being able to attach files to rows. Customers seem to like being able to view it online also.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is nice but it needs to be more automated. It takes too long to manually update the smartsheets. It would be better if you could open a smartsheet, click a button and it could pull in information from an excel or pdf file.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows the customers to be on the same page with the vendor so they know when to expect their material. It is very easy for them to log into it at anytime for their information.
Easier Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
One of my favorite things about Smartsheet is how it makes collaboration much easier in a team environment. I can share a 'sheet' with a teammate, and still control whether or not they can alter the documentation. I can point out specifically who needs to modify/update an item and they will be automatically notified of that request. Comments and questions about the items can be automatically attached in-line for ease of record keeping. It makes it so much easier!
What do you dislike about the product?
The one downside of Smartsheet is that I'm not able to do as much of the same formatting that I can do with excel - for example, I can't change the color of the header, nor can I change the line widths between columns or rows in order to emphasize or separate certain areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The organization can more easily collaborate enterprise wide, enabling a more effective status report/update system. This helps me keep track of what is going on in a wider spectrum.
Using SmartSheet with colleagues around the US
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is easy to share information with a large group of people that are not within your organization and around the country with ease. We use OneDrive a lot but it is sometimes very difficult for people to access the OneDrive folders and/or files if they are outside of our organization.

What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that it functioned more like Excel at times. It can be difficult to create a spreadsheet using common Excel formulas as they don't work in SmartSheet. It is also impossible to hide information from certain people if you so wanted to. I tried to create a report from a SmartSheet that would only show people what they needed to see, but they cannot see the information in the report, if they are not given access to the original SmartSheet. I think that defies the logic of creating a report with only certain information that you want to share with others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work with several volunteer committees and SmartSheet helps me share information with all of them. I keep track of who is on which committee through SmartSheet as well. I use it to help our Awards committee vote on awards and such.
