Great way to optimize project management projects

Comprehensive and Complex - Worth it if you invest
What do you like best about the product?
When implemented well, Smartsheet is incredibly powerful. It combines Microsoft Excel with something like Jira to allow for project and task tracking, cascading timelines, automatic notifications, document signatures, and more. I'm convinced that someone who really wants to could run an entire business through Smartsheet. My boss set up a bunch of sheets that feed each other that we update weekly and the results are awesome!
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is unlike anything else I've used, and that can be a good thing or a bad thing. In my case, the learning curve seems incredibly steep. When trying to alter some of the processes my boss set up, the system feels incredibly fragile. My biggest knock by far is there not seeming to be an entry-tier; it's all or nothing. I also know some of the extensions that would be very helpful for our team are prohibitively expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet makes project management much more streamline. We have a system of dependencies set up so that if we're waiting on client feedback or tasks are taking longer than expected, we can automatically notify the people that need to know. It seems a bit simple, but it takes a lot off our plates.
Intuitive and easy to use spreadsheet collaboration!

As a remote worker, Smartsheet is critical for teams to collaborate in real-time for project tracking.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the spreadsheet functionality of Excel and Sheets isn't present.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With a distributed workforce focused on multiple IT projects concurrently, this allows us internal collaboration as well as a space to work with external customers and vendors on projects. This is critical visibility we don't get with Microsoft products.

I would like to engage in a structured, step-by-step collaboration with a certified Smartsheet expert to ensure a strategic and effective implementation of the platform. My objective is to align the deployment with best practices and organizational goals, thereby maximizing the platform’s capabilities and delivering optimal results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has become an invaluable tool in supporting the successful management of my projects, tasks, events, and day-to-day operations. Its flexibility and robust feature set allow me to stay organized, streamline workflows, and maintain visibility across multiple initiatives.
Overall I've found it to be a really great way to stay organized within projects.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the way that it's easy to add drop down and cross off and share pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've had a hard time connecting Smartsheet with Procore. I also don't like that I can't share a link to someone who doesnt have smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find it the most helpful for schedules.

I liked that items should be easily tracked for folk especially when doing group work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I did not like that when people left it was a process to get a new "user" to be in charge of the document or file/the updates that were sent with the old users name.

It was helpful to have all information in one place for others to see.

The best feature is the east of importing data.

Automation can only be configured with a contact list instead of a text field.

For leadership, Smartsheet offers customizable dashboards that show real-time data on performance and progress. Whether you're managing global operations or tracking a single team’s goals, the platform makes it easy to keep everyone on the same page.
And from an enterprise perspective, our IT and security teams like that Smartsheet is compliant with things like GDPR and has good permission controls—so we can safely manage sensitive projects without worrying about who has access.

Smartsheet supports multiple users editing a sheet, but it's not truly real-time. Sometimes if two people are editing the same sheet, you'll get a conflict or be prompted to refresh. I'd love to see smoother, live collaboration with changes updating instantly—especially when working with fast-moving teams.
The built-in forms are useful for intake processes, but they lack advanced conditional logic. For example, I’d like to show or hide entire sections based on previous answers, use calculated fields, or redirect based on form responses—similar to tools like Typeform or Jotform.
Comments exist, but they’re not very visible in the overall workflow. A more robust commenting system with @mentions, threads, and the ability to resolve discussions inline—similar to Notion or Google Docs—would make collaboration easier especially when it comes to weekly catch up meetings.

I like that it offers one central view not only for my team who can therefore update theirs projects and look at what their teammates are doing but also with our leadership team and stakeholders who can follow live the progress of our project. It brings a self service approach that we didn’t have before
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe a little bit more automation in the creation of dashboards would be welcome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It brings one central view for me, my team, my leadership team and my stakeholders. They can self serve and follow the progress of our projects without having to reach out directly.

What do you like best about the product?
As someone working in Financial Operations, I rely on Smartsheet every single day and it has become an indispensable part of how I manage tasks, track approvals, and collaborate across teams. It has made working on projects very easy and smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not faced any major issues so far and have enjoyed the app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me solve a lot of problems in my daily work. It saves me from chasing people for approvals by sending automatic alerts and reminders, which is a big help when I’m handling things like payment requests or royalty adjustments. I can keep all my tasks, updates, and documents in one place, so I don’t have to dig through emails or spreadsheets. It also makes it easy for me to work with others—whether I’m tagging someone for input or tracking progress across teams. I use dashboards to quickly see what’s pending or delayed, which helps me stay on top of things without spending hours making reports. Overall, it keeps my work organized, fast, and stress free.
