There's a reason I dream in airtable

  • October 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to build just about anything a small business would need in one software.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's database visualization is a little be desired at this point in its development.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us have one source of truth for all of our data and information needs, with multiple waysto display and share that information across the organization.
The automations help reduce the amount of repeated workflows that are often forgotten about anyway.

Airtable review by and Airtable consultant

  • October 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable allows you to build custom systems that bring together datasets that would often reside in their own (siloed) systems. The flexibility is near endless when you consider all the additional tools you can integrate with.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few limitations are especially annoying:
1. Inability to include extensions in interfaces
2. Inability to embed or put static images in any interface page (e.g. put a company logo on a dashboard)
3. Limited to 50 automations per base.
4. Inability to do condition groups in automation trigger logic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows rapid development of tools that can be developed with out (much) code and then handed off to non-technical users to own with minimal ongoing involvement.

Almost infinitely adaptable and user-friendly

  • October 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Airtable can be adapted to a wide variety of uses and set up is pretty easy once you're comfortable with the interface and some of the terminology. I'm using it on a daily basis for task management, grant deliverables and invoice tracking, and as a contacts database. I've even found uses for it in my personal life. The automations are helpful and user-friendly and I've set up a couple integrations with Google.
What do you dislike about the product?
The billing schema was difficult to understand at first and it was a major stumbling block not to be able to pay by Purchase Order but we made Airtable's credit-card only policy work. The inability to share an Interface publicly without people having to log-in was very frustrating though this is changing for at least some types of Interfaces.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Airtable is enabling coordination of a remote team. It allows us to attach conversations (through comments) to specific tasks without having to sift through emails. Crucially, it's helping track ingoing and outgoing invoices visible by all team members where before, we had no formal system. Likewise, it's helping us stay up do date with dozens of contracts across dozens of contractors. It's definitely helped expand workload capacity.

Amazing product with lots uses and more potential yet

  • October 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable is incredibly flexible and powerful. It presents itself as something that can quickly provide a solution for some basic business functions (project managment, content calendar, etc.), but it is capable of so much more. We use it every day for so many use cases. Whenever we encounter an issue or a bug, the support team is quick to respond.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest roadblock in using Airtable is getting users to understand it's power, flexibility and range of capabilities. A lot of people expect it to be as flexible as using Excel or Sheets, it's just not, but once you're able to get over the hump of understanding, people get excited about using Airtable for everything.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Airtable allowed us to replace the ever-expensive and inflexible Salesforce as well as other applications, then connect them and remove a lot of duplicate work.

It's Just So Flexible

  • October 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable is just so versatile! I've been able to adapt to a wide range of projects, making — essentially — an app for my clients and even my own LLC; from Finances to animation production tracking.

The whole interface is very intuitive. Things seem to be in the right spot where you'd expect them. Even the keyboard shortcuts feel like they're following a user-experience you've come to use in other applications.

Also, the Base specific developer documentation is very helpful for those like me who tinker in code. It gives you examples of the code and how the different parts work within the code.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to have the ability to restrict the viewing of specific tables and or their columns better. Currently, you haver to build an interface as what seems like a work-around. This is not ideal when your team works better in the tables, and also when you don't have time to build an interface, making sure to also keep everything up to date.

I also wish there was something like a document field. Something I could keep with a record that could also be worked on while in Airtable. Currently you have to use a link to google docs or have a really messy Long Text field.

Additionally, there doesn't seem to be a very good training module/set of videos for people new to Airtable. Sometimes I spin up projects and people new to the product have a hard time getting started with the overwhelming look of Airtable. It really is fairly simple to use, but it can be scary.

Lastly, interfaces still feel so limited and to make it worse it feels like Airtable has locked its most useful features behind an enterprise plan. Many times it feels like they've said with their features and pricing "We really don't care for small businesses. We're enterprise focused."
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to work with people across the globe for the animation projects I operate. I'm able to focus data to where it's needed, helping those that I hire focus on the tasks they need to complete.

Your go to for CRM, Process Management, and Relational Tools

  • October 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to figure out and there is a great community surrounding it. You can do anything you want with it, and it is easy to educate others on your team how you are using it.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to get the higher tiers for some features, but that isn't uncommon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a large team and Airtable is our way to integrate and communicate across all the teams so everyone knows what is happening and where engagement is needed. We use it for every component of our offering.

Great tool for work and personal; not FERPA compliant

  • October 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable is an incredibly great tool to use for program and project management, to get a team on the same page for processes, and to build semi-complicated workflows without being programmer. In my higher education work, we have used Airtable to manage all of our work flows, including event registration, communications management, and transfer course approval workflows. It's easy to learn, the forums are great for problem-solving, and the tool is constantly getting better. I use this tool everyday in my work processes and wish that I could build in more opportunities for engage.
What do you dislike about the product?
I work in higher education and Airtable is not FERPA compliant, and seemingly will not take the steps to comply with my institutions needs. As a result, we are limited in how we can use this great tool. Additionally, there are some functions that seem to act like a spreadsheet but do not, which would be ideal (cell math formulas, drag-down, etc). Finally, although it is easier than before, connecting bases is possibly, but complicated. I wish this was easier to do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my office, Airtable is used for a wide variety of work flow opportunities. We use the tool to manage large events, to track our communications and program delivery, employee historical information, and task management by individual team members. We save a lot of money being able to build out tools that meet our needs exactly (and not too little or not too much) with the opportunity to change them easily ourselves rather than through a developer.

Dynamic, Customizable, Team Project Tracking in Connected Databases in AirTable

  • October 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like how customizable the platform is and how I can choose who and what to share each table with within my base. I also like the interfaces feature to help summarize my data and monitor trends.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it's a bit pricey and has a bit of a learning curve required to start using it fluently, but well worth it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use AirTable to track project statuses and details to share with our internal project management team. We also use it to monitor task statuses, assignment, and completion at weekly review meetings as a team too. We use interfaces to summarize metrics as well at a high level.

Excellent CRM For Growing Company Trying to Automate

  • October 19, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable is a very intutive platform that effectively allows you to effectively consolidate and organize what you would normally do in Google Sheets. The automations capabilities allow me to get all sorts of notifications when a certain event happens.
What do you dislike about the product?
Airtable is a great data collection tool and has some analysis capabilities, but it isn't as easy to do analysis as it is in Excel and Google Sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Airtable allows my entire company of 50+ people to see all the data we collect and edit and manage that data in an intuitive and organized way.

Airtable is the tool that I keep coming back to

  • October 18, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable is incredibly user friendly. It's so customizable and can be used for multiple teams for each of their different purposes. I love that you can get started really quickly and it's easy to implement updates and changes without breaking things behind the scenes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that you could highlight individual cells. It can be cumbersome to create reporting, but mostly I think it just takes time to get used to.

Customer service seems to have too many canned responses that can be unhelpful at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me personally, it makes calendarization of work extremely easy. I love that I can click and drag from one date to another without needing to type in the date. This makes it easy to pivot roll out dates.

I also love that I can share out with stakeholders the exact work that's being done, including limiting some of the columns.
