Avid user of AirTable for well over a year

What do you like best about the product?
The price of AirTable to get started is free.
That's bonus #1.

The grid view is really easy to use, and is like having a Google Sheet or Excel spreadsheet on steroids.
I use AirTable for a number of use-cases.

Firstly, with my own customers, I build people's websites together on Zoom so they can learn how to do it themselves at the same time.
Part of each project is preparation.
I have a whole checklist set up on AirTable that I share with my clients to fill out and follow, step by step, before we do our 1:1 call.
AirTable updates in real-time and therefore I can see their progress and collaborate.
I am able to send them an invite and control what they can do with the grid as well.
There is options to upload videos, pictures, logos, type text, include URLs, and lots of other things like that which makes it a really powerful way for me to manage my 1:1.
I have literally 100s of these grids set up with my 1:1 clients.

Secondly, I have my own projects that I manage.
For example, I have an internal grid that I use with AirTable for people who want to get a free consultation on what software/platform to use for their online business (i.e. courses, membership, funnels, email marketing, etc).
AirTable lets you create a questionnaire / form, and they can fill out the answers.
Once they fill out, I set up an automation where they receive a thank you email and an invitation to book a call with me.
The answers are emailed to me and also added to a spreadsheet on the same AirTable grid.
My entire software free consultation process and systeme is on AirTable.

There are other use-cases, but you get the idea.

I have a YouTube video I recorded to give a taste of how I use AirTable, in case you want to see more.

What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is a double-edge sword.
I love the fact that it is free!
But to be honest, I'd happily pay something for it considering I am an avid user.
However, the way their pricing model works it's really not designed for a solopreneur like me - it's designed to accommodate for big corporate companies which makes it not feasible for me to be a paying subscriber.
For example, a competitor called "Bloo" has a simple flat fee of $50/month. That's way more reasonable for a solopreneur like me versus what AirTable would charge for the paid features.

I am also not a big fan of the other table views, perhaps I have not figured out how to use them properly.

The grid view and the form is what I love AirTable for, and the rest I find not as user-friendly on a personal level (although it doesn't bother me as the grid view is fine).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing my business plans in one place.
Having a really user-friendly and intuitive and collaborative tool to work with my private 1:1 clients.
Having a streamlined system to collect information for people wanting to get a free software consultation with me.
You can see an example of the questionnaire and that process on this page: EranFunnels.com/software

A new Era on file savings and sharing

  • January 16, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The capacity it has to Accelerate work and unlock potential with powerful apps that connect your data, workflows and teams. Makes the teammowrk more efficient and helps to keep a good record of all the activities made during the work.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still some tools or options that are in Beta Phase and that makes sometimes some confusions. Maybe if the interface can be just a little bit more comfortable in terms of tools will be amazing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Has the chance to keep all the information from different platforms together and always up to date which reduces the amount of time neede to search from Google or Outlook since all of that is already in Airtable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Nothing at all, just make sure to always keep the files updated and all the correct data in Airtable so no issues will be presented when working with this tool.

Airtable the extended excel sheet

  • January 16, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Oh I love the tool to the core. It helps me sort data in the most efficient and effective manner. The grouping and filtering of data is way powerful and you don't need to handhold your clients
What do you dislike about the product?
I have a lot of members on my team and if I add them to my workbase I have to pay for each member. I don't like this pay per user pattern. I would love if there is reporting facility (the interface is not user friendly)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use airtable as a CMS solution and it is the most efficient solution I have ever used. In fact the onboarding solves the newbie troubles and I love the way the data is all sorted.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an excel with extra functionalities. If you are a Pro in Excel, you'd find this tool incredibly useful.

The software offers an amazing amount of flexibility and capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as much a dislike as a barrier; It takes a lot of time to become competent in the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted to use the software as a workflow tool, tracking certain aspects of my practice; For example, the number of clients who have businesses.

Data made easy!

  • January 13, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It helps put all of your data in one centralized location and once it's up and running, the user interface is very easy to use! I like the layout of airtable a lot and is a good middle ground between storing data manually and a more complex data analytics software.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are sometimes minor glitches with the system, so sometimes preferences and settings won't be saved and I'll have to go in and manually revert them back.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to track inventory using Airtable and are able to track what styles are in stock through the system. We are able to connect Airtable to our other systems in place for a good integration!

Useful platform, just not as intuitive as I’d like

  • January 13, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like being able to work across teams from home, seamlessly tagging each other for tasks or to respond to questions. It's nice that each person can customize their view in the way that's most streamlined for their workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features aren't terribly intuitive, and I haven't been able to find solutions by searching. For example, one view I use has a really convenient search bar at the top, but I can't find any way to make a search bar appear on other views. I also don't like that clicking on a notification opens it in the view the sender was using; I rearranged my views so that my approval fields appear next to the field I need to approve, but the notifications open it in a different view so I still have to scroll around to find what I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We find it useful for organizing our social media workflow; it makes it easy for all of us in remote locations to quickly move social posts from drafts through design and posting while keeping the details for the post and conversations about it all in one place.

Organization for all your needs

  • January 12, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that AirTable provides you with prefabricated templates for so many different logistical tasks. You can easily implement and edit their templates. I love that it is an app for my computer, phone and ipad. I can use it for work, I can use it for the grocery store, I can use it for every day life.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say I 'dislike' anything. But I think the filtering options can be a little better. They can be confusing when trying to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a blog editorial table, a campaign calendar table, a to-do list table, a trade show logistics table. It is updated in real-time for all shared users. It is a perfect way to stay organized and take out the need to send constant email chains.

Airtable for sorting priorities

  • January 12, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Airtable allows a group of collaborators to store, share, and collaborate information, and attach documents. The information might be ideas, inventory, tasks, or something else. Also the onboarding and training is so simple and not time intensive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The paid version is expensive. I would like to color code records, but the cost is $20 per month which is quite a bit. Initially it was set up with separate paid spaces and then trying to get everything onto an enterprise plan was a huge headache.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to customize or choose a template for table is great. Being able to have multiple tables so all areas of a team can track their items, but still have everything visible to the entire team in one place is so helpful. The timeline view is especially helpful in content planning and marketing communication planning.

The Missing Tool for a Creative Problem Solvers

  • January 12, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
How often have you seen people try to house information in an Excel spreadsheet when they actually want a database? Airtable combines the functionality of a database with the user experience standards of Google Sheets -- maybe even better in many respects. Relating tables, categorizing and summarizing information, and building repositories are all better here than anything else I've used. If you are the type of person who can't program, but knows how you'd want to build a tool for yourself and colleagues, you've got to try Airtable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the platform is just a LITTLE too paywalled. Some of the best features to visualize data, for example, require an Upgrade to advanced features. I would be more likely to recommend providing this tool as an option for more people in my organization if I could demonstrate the complete value easily, and with real examples. Airtable offers Pro capabilities for inviting users like candy, so I don't think this would be too hard for them to improve upon.

I have also experienced some challenges with users not really understanding how to input data in the Grid view. As far as I can tell there isn't a good way to add clear notes/annotations as instructions, to ensure data quality, etc.

There is some suggestion that Airtable is enough to replace more structured project management tools. I think it's a bit of a stretch for a team to realistically implement self-service, but you certainly can build mini-apps to support business processes. I guess I'm not surprised their messaging has shifted, but I think the free-form nature is the real benefit (not that it's a great project management tool, because it's not until you take a template and rework it for your needs).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracked receipts; managed client budget allocations and assignments; tracked personnel; built forms for end users; set up collaborative mood boards; built web analytics data dictionaries; organized sales materials...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The only barrier of entry for a solo user is the time to learn it. Give it a try.
