Perplexity Makes Research Feel Effortless and Fun

  • July 21, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how Perplexity turns a simple question into a quick, helpful chat that pulls in real info from the web, complete with links to check yourself. It's super easy to use, no confusing menus or overload of options, and it remembers what we've talked about before, so follow-up questions feel natural. As someone who writes about tech and needs fast facts, it's a huge time-saver; I can dive into topics like history or current events without endless scrolling. The free version gives plenty of searches daily, and organizing chats into folders keeps everything tidy. Plus, it's just fun, like having a smart friend who always has your back.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the answers feel a bit too short or repeat the same points, especially on tricky subjects where I want more depth without asking a million follow-ups. I've noticed occasional mix-ups with facts, so I always double-check the sources, which can slow me down. The pro version costs $20 a month for extras like uploading files, but it feels steep if you're not using it every day. Also, customer support could be quicker, I've waited a bit for help on minor glitches. Integration with other tools isn't seamless yet, and while it's user-friendly, adding more ways to customize the experience would make it even better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Perplexity is tackling the hassle of digging through unreliable or scattered info online, especially when I'm researching for tech writing gigs. It pulls together quick summaries with real sources, which cuts my research time in half, no more bouncing between tabs or doubting if something's accurate. For business stuff, it's helping me solve problems like staying on top of fast-changing trends without wasting hours, which means I can deliver articles faster and impress clients. Personally, it's a lifesaver for brainstorming ideas or fact-checking on the fly; I feel more productive and less stressed, like I've got a reliable sidekick that keeps things organized and trustworthy. Overall, it's making my workflow smoother and helping me avoid those frustrating dead ends in info hunting.

What do you like best about the product?
The follow-up questions to your questions are absolute gold to keep brainstorming and going deep with the topic you are researching.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's absolutely nothing I dislike about using this incredible ground-breaking tool!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Best of all? You have access to quality papers, relevant sources listed and even videos suggested for whatever you wanna search. Perplexity is fantastic as it switches between models to optimize data usage and deliver excellent results. That said, if you have a very good question such as: the downside effect of using moisturizer daily... Instead of getting listicles and a bunch of advertorials as you would get on Google, you get invaluable key insights, scientific backed data and follow-up questions to make your content even more relevant and powerful.

Great AI companion for Sales

  • June 03, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
I personally rate perplexity far above Gemini, Copilot, ChatGPT. Its far more contextual than peripheral for insights on companies, markets and so on.
What do you dislike about the product?
No AI is perfect but there are always dead-ends after continuous prompts on a certain topic. I have been largely satisfied with most of Perplexitys responses
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Perplexity is a 9/10 as a research tool - Contextuality, financials, unique facts both qualitative and quantitative - this is far beyond what I would rate other AI for research.

Attempts to be versatile but falls short of specialized performance

  • March 25, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Perplexity primarily as an online search engine when I need information.

What is most valuable?

I use Perplexity primarily as an online search engine when I need information. However, I cannot recommend it as Google is a better web search engine, and ChatGPT is a better LLM-based answer engine. I find information more quickly and reliably with Google and ChatGPT.

What needs improvement?

The core feature and the core ranking algorithm of Perplexity should be improved. Perplexity is trying to be everything at once, such as providing stock information and e-commerce, and should make sure that its core offering is better than Google and ChatGPT Search.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Perplexity for about one year, probably a bit more.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used many different solutions before trying Perplexity, including Google and ChatGPT Search. I tried Perplexity because of the hype but ended up returning to Google and ChatGPT Search.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What was our ROI?

I did not see a return on investment. Unfortunately, I have discontinued using the product because I am not happy with it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options such as Google, Bing, and ChatGPT Search.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise using something else instead. Perplexity has nothing that makes it unique, and it tries to do everything at once but does nothing well. Its competitors are better in every way. I rate the overall solution a three out of ten.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrating Perplexity AI into my workflow has notably increased my productivity, particularly in the research phase of projects. By providing immediate, accurate answers and relevant data, I have seen a 30% reduction in time spent on information gathering. This has allowed me to focus on analysis and application rather than searching for basic facts.
In summary, Perplexity AI is a robust tool that excels in providing accurate information and enhancing research efficiency. While it has some limitations regarding specialized queries, the benefits it offers make it a valuable asset for anyone needing reliable data quickly.
