Excellent Automation Platform With Infinite Potential

  • September 25, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Going from idea to functional prototype takes no time at all. Getting elegant solutions implemented quickly is where it really shines. Support is responsive and product development is very active. Additionally, there is maturing ecosystem of public stories and documentation available on the web.
What do you dislike about the product?
Core components of the user interface can be clunky or difficult to navigate. Getting into a natural flow of building stories can prove difficult. Additionally, coming from a developer background, aclimating to Tines can be frustrating. Tendencies to solve problems programatically must be unlearned or re-adapted to Tines event execution flow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Tines to build out self service workflows for our customers. This has significantly alleviated ticket volume and freed up cycles on the team for other projects.

How Tines Helped Us Run Our Service 24/7

  • September 24, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the most helpful features of Tines is its ability to reliably process large volumes of data. With Tines, we can easily call out to Elastic Security Alerts and handle hundreds, or even thousands, of alerts daily. It allows us to deduplicate, gather context through APIs like VirusTotal, and significantly reduces the time spent manually creating cases and querying threat intel platforms.

As a developer, the thing that I like best about Tines is the ability to debug if there is a problem or failure, with the 'Logs' and 'Events' sections. I'm able to quickly discern what the issue is and where it lies. As well as the layer of abstractions from coding- making it accessible to all members of the team allowing us to collaborate together. Making note of the 'Automatic Transform Mode' action that allows you to provide an input and prompt, cutting down my developing time.

Finally, the lovely people who work at Tines are constantly listening, giving suggestions and improvements to our story development and making sure we feel that our opinions are heard and listened to. Shout out to Eoin, Paula and Paul!
What do you dislike about the product?
Tines does have some areas that they could improve on, such as SLAs (which is now currently in motion), user interface refinements, and the need for built-in messaging capabilities from a case for platforms like Teams or Slack instead of us having to build it manually in a story. However, Tines is very open to feature requests, and we’ve seen firsthand how those suggestions have turned into actual product updates- with a quick turnaround. For example, immutable records are now available, and there have been substantial improvements in the UI for cases, including custom case statuses and case fields.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The key problem that Tines allows us to solve is our lack of time.

Tines enables us to correlate all of this data into a readable case efficiently. It also allows us to tie many platforms we use internally, like Opsgenie, Teams etc and create a chain of communicating with their API's- again saving us the manual time we would've done before and allowing us to operate as a 24/7 vendor. We have built logic that processes alerts raised in Elastic and that is run through our Threat Intel Story which analyses and triages giving us a criticality score. This benefits us by giving us the room to take on more customers.

Simple effective and really user-friendly

  • August 30, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Tines is their support team. They are always incredibly helpful and, most importantly, fast. I even had a Zoom call with them once to solve a specific issue, and that level of personalized support really enhances the overall experience with the tool. When I first started using Tines, I interacted with their support team daily, and they consistently provided quick, accurate solutions. They not only resolved the issues but also ensured I fully understood how to implement the solution, which is something I greatly appreciated.

Another major advantage of Tines is that it allows you to accomplish a lot of work with minimal technical knowledge. Although I have a background in computer science, my experience with other tools has shown me that Tines is much simpler and more effective. It enables me to automate complex workflows without needing extensive coding skills, which is a huge benefit for professionals at all levels. The combination of simplicity and efficiency makes Tines one of my favorite tools, if not my absolute favorite, for automating processes in my daily work.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the things I dislike about Tines is that when working with run script events, I really miss having a more advanced integrated development environment (IDE). I understand that Tines is not intended to function as a traditional development tool, but having a more robust script editor would be very helpful when building more complex workflows. Features like autocomplete, more advanced syntax highlighting, or better error handling could significantly enhance the experience of writing and debugging code directly within the platform.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that the interface occasionally freezes, requiring a page refresh for changes to be reflected. While this isn’t a major issue, it can be confusing at times, as it seems like changes aren’t being saved or applied properly. Improving the interface’s stability would help avoid these minor, yet frustrating, disruptions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tines helps us solve the challenge of integrating various tools and platforms into one seamless workflow. We use Tines to connect our messaging platform with other tools, allowing us to centralize communications and actions. For example, we can create comments in external tools directly from our messaging platform, ensuring that everything stays in one place. Additionally, we automate task creation for our teams, assigning tasks through Tines by simply filling out a form. One of the biggest benefits is the ability to generate PDF reports from our tools automatically, eliminating the need for manual report creation.

Tines has also enabled us to integrate and automate workflows between tools that don't have native integrations. This flexibility has significantly improved our efficiency across multiple areas of our work, allowing us to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall productivity.

Automate daily tasks, phishing emails, ticket creation and IOC investigations

  • August 21, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use it to automate daily tasks, phishing emails, ticket creation, IOC investigations, and ticket assignments.

How has it helped my organization?

It has improved over the years. The user interface has been enhanced, and now it’s mostly a drag-and-drop process for creating actions. These actions can be customized based on what you're doing. The setup resembles a flowchart format, with connectors linking actions. You can add comments and descriptions to actions, which helps others understand what’s happening and makes collaborating easier.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features is that it’s a low-code solution, so you don’t need to be fluent in Python or any other programming language. For example, I can use Python code to create actions in Tines, but it's unnecessary.

Another key benefit is that it works with anything that has an API. If you can make an API call to a tool or service, you can implement automation using Tines.

What needs improvement?

They started implementing some AI, and their AI is isolated. So, it doesn't go to the main AI engines with the information. It's within their private cloud.

Others cannot address it. However, since it’s quite new, it seems clunky. I’ve found it almost easier to revert to doing things manually simply.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Tines for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I haven't encountered performance issues with adding stories or handling other tasks. The only users that need to be configured in Tines are those who view stories, metrics, or perform activities.

These pages are web URLs that collect information and trigger a story based on submissions. Users can access these pages and submit their information as long as they have the necessary permissions and MFA set up.

How are customer service and support?

Support is pretty top-notch. If they identify an issue, they notify their customers. For instance, they monitor the tenants, and if a problem occurs, they send an email to inform you.

They provide a lot of their support through Slack channels. Each customer has a dedicated channel where you can post questions or mention issues you’re facing. You’ll usually receive a response quickly. Recently, they’ve integrated AI into this process, so you often get useful suggestions within a minute. If needed, you can also request a human to take a look. Their response time is generally quick, although it might be slower at night since they aren’t available 24/7.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. There’s no installation required. It’s just a matter of getting the correct permissions. Since it uses APIs to communicate with the tools, setting everything up is relatively straightforward once you have access, including any SSO or multi-factor authentication needed on your and the company’s end. If you can configure the API credentials in the tool you want, you can make the necessary calls.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Tines is a very cost-effective solution compared to others. The ability to integrate with anything that has an API is a major advantage. Their support team has also been impressive, providing excellent presentations and sales pitches.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it to anyone in need of automation. It’s not limited to security. You can use it to onboard employees, gather information, and set permissions based on their roles. It’s a versatile tool that can be applied across various areas, including engineering. To streamline the process, it’s helpful to gather any necessary API information for the tools and systems you’ll be accessing.

It is an easy tool for a beginner to learn. It offers many tutorials, documentation, and knowledge-based material.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

No-code tool, good for scheduling scripts daily and easy to use

  • August 16, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use it for automations on the enterprise security aspect.

What is most valuable?

The best thing is that it's no code, so it doesn't require coding knowledge. But it does require knowing all the features and variables that can be used for automation. It's also good for scheduling scripts daily. It's easy to use and gather information within Tines, and every detail is in the documentation. If we get stuck, we can use the live chat feature to discuss and get help.

What needs improvement?

Maybe Tines can add more features and demonstrations, like videos on how to use the features within the tool. For example, when you click on a feature, it could show a video link explaining how to use it. That feature could be added in the future.

So, I'd like to see more documentation on how to use Tines.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable product. As far as updates go, it's been stable with no bugs. They consistently provide updates to the platform, and it has never hampered our work. It's been very good to use.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Different team members used it. In our environment, there's a team that manages cloud platforms and cloud security. They use it to alert on cloud alerts. It's for the enterprise.

There were three or four people for cloud security, and I was the only one in the enterprise using it. There are a few others who are on-site. We are from India, but there are on-site people as well.

They also used to have access and were performing automation with Tines.

How are customer service and support?

I talked to the support team through the live chat feature. When we raise a question, an engineer is assigned within five or ten minutes, and they provide solutions on how to proceed.

The support was good. If we know things in Tines, and if we understand their answers correctly, we can get the solution. I would rate them seven to eight. If a user doesn't understand their answer, they might need to get on a call and have someone show them how it's done.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The client finds it very easy to use, and everyone can learn it easily and perform automation tasks. The other platforms previously used for automation were a bit complicated and required a larger team to set up. Tines is very easy and compatible with the environment, so the client uses it for automation purposes.

What about the implementation team?

I didn't onboard it. It was already deployed in my environment. I was just using it for automation.

What other advice do I have?

If someone needs tasks performed daily that can be automated between different systems, and if there's a cybersecurity or SOC analyst team, they can also use it by creating various API calls, setting alerts, and investigating those alerts based on automation scripts. It's very useful and can be used in other places as well. Any tool with an API can be automated with Tines.

Overall, I would rate it a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud
