Smartling makes it so easy for me to complete my translation tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I'm able to prioritize my projects easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, I haven't found anything I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartling daily as a French Canadian agent. I'm able to translate from English to French or French to English quickly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend Smartling to everyone who has an international business.

Feature Rich, but UX is still confusing

What do you like best about the product?
Even complex situations can be handled by Smartling.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our company has had to write some custom tooling and libraries to fill some of the gaps in the Smartling developer experience. Additionally, every new employee (PM, designer, developer) requires a learning curve to understand all of the processes around using Smartling. It does not seem to be super intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company requires our product to be translated for our customers worldwide. Smartling helps us meet that need.

Many perks for translators, but challenging asset management.

What do you like best about the product?
Translators get handy tips in the CAT tool: easy glossary suggestions, search in the TM and glossary.
What do you dislike about the product?
Search in the TM Management window and content search are extremely basic and do not allow something beyond "Match Case" (e.g., 'but not this'). The exact match can be so slow that you get an error message. TM Manager (TMM) tool can be prohibitively slow that prevents from doing TM management tasks.
TM management itself is not very flexible.

Access levels are not customizable and do not allow many roles.

Term Base window is not very user-friendly and displays unimportant information blocking the important one (e.g., list of target languages takes too much space with little benefit). The window should be more customizable (my feeling is that it was designed for 40-inch screens).
Would be nice to have in the TB more options for translations that have variants.
TB export could be more customizable (what fields to export).
I can go in :-)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We localize HTML-based documentation and UI with complex formatting and stringent customer requirements regarding terminology and style. TM is constantly reviewed to keep it in sync with the changing terminology.

Working with the Smartling team and their platform is amazing!

What do you like best about the product?
The Dashboard is incredibly easy to work within. The Smartling Team was so helpful during the implementation and setup phase and were quick to answer any questions we had and problem solve.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, we were hesitant to move forward with Smartling because of their price and business model at the time. Although they still are the premium translation technology on the market, we were glad that our account executive was able to work with us to find a price that fit our needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a means to be more inclusive with our Spanish-speaking patrons, we wanted to give them the opportunity to view our website in Spanish, to learn more about upcoming marketing events and art education courses for their children.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for an all-in-one solution that exceeds expectations, I highly suggest Smartling and its suite of language translation tools/resources.

What do you like best about the product?
Kyle and Tanner are great support reps! I love that we have had dedicated account people to answer questions and help us out. Also, once you figure out the platform, it's a great service and the translators do a great job.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a real learning curve. A lot of little things are not intuitive and you'll spend a lot of time looking for things in the beginning
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are expanding into new markets where our marketing team is not familiar with the language, so it's fantastic to have Smartling: great service and great translators.

Great communication but Smart Match can be sensitive

What do you like best about the product?
I like the communication with the translators. It's easy to raise issues and discuss problems, with the ability to upload screenshots where needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smart Match can be a bit hit and miss. I understand you can tweak the settings to open the taps a bit more, but it feels like we're not seeing too much of a saving given the limited number of matches we're getting. Lack of integration with Iterable is a pain point for us as we need to find workarounds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translation of our app experience and service emails/push.

Great tool for international marketers to localize website and content

What do you like best about the product?
Real time machine translation with human review available in a work flow manner, translation memory is also available so that we don't have to repeatedly translate the same word for consistency
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be better and more user-friendly. the workflow setup can be easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tedious and long turnaround time translation process, being not understand the language to manage the translation work without a proper tool is a real headache.
With Smartling we are able to start the translation with machine translation, then a human review to ensure relevancy and readability, and it gets populated to our website real time, this has saved so much of our time, as well as better scalability to localize the whole website in 4 languages.

Made a super scary project easy, like a breeze

What do you like best about the product?
Smartling has an incredible depth of available solutions for UI translation. We had all sorts of weird constraints and had written off any out-of-the-box solution, before we spoke with the Smartling team. There isn't a software surface that they can't translate haha!

Additionally, I loved the whole process, from sales to onboarding and getting us up and running. The CS team is at the top of its game and helped us move along super fast
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular. Things can be a little bit more self-service, though!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to make our UI available in 8 different languages and had a deadline to do it end to end in 3 months. We plugged in Smartling and were able to do it in the allotted time and win multiple 5 figure contracts!

We didn't have to make many changes to our core frontend code. Smartling's solution sat outside of our frontend code and based on the extension (es.goldcast.io or jp.goldcast.io), translated everything on its end and sent back the translated strings which plugged in easily into our UI. We didn't have to do any heavylifting with responsiveness etc.

What do you like best about the product?
Once you get it set up correctly, it requires almost no maintenance. Everything works seamlessly, and the system is designed to handle anything you throw at it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our use case for the GDN was relatively... complicated, so getting it up and running was a bit challenging, but Smartling was very supportive in getting us a resolution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our entire organization is now able to leverage shared translations, increasing turnaround time and decreasing cost.

What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to search and find strings. All the information provided on the UI. Smartling 2.0 has definite improvements in their search options over 1.0
What do you dislike about the product?
The black toast that you have to click to confirm authorization. It's so small and disappears after a few seconds. If you don't click it, you have to do the whole process of authorization again.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm localizing my keys. It's easy to search.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take a tutorial before you start using so you're familiar with all the things you can do.
