JAMF Pro - Beyond ARD
What do you like best about the product?
I like the remote management of Apple services, functions, and apps. I used to do a lot of JAMF's features through Apple Remote Desktop, some of which I had to be extremely creative about. The fact that JAMF operates over the Internet goes beyond ARD's LAN limitation.
What do you dislike about the product?
My dislike is the screen sharing features can't function when devices are on different networks than I am, due to most default firewall settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems have been with the users not keeping their devices awake long enough for managed device communication to complete. Policies will fail sometimes due to loss of network connectivity and I find out that the policy started just as they were sleeping/shutting down the device. I have not had the chance to see the recent JAMF update for policy failure retry in action.
Jamf Cloud Review
What do you like best about the product?
Very reliable and easy to use. Jamf nation also has tons of info to help customize your environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud based doesn't provide the internal private IP address on iPads.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jamf has made it so that we can have a uniform setup on all of our devices. Also allows us to easily push apps and configs to our virtual student iPads.
JAMF is almost magical at helping to manage an Apple fleet
What do you like best about the product?
While there are many ways to accomplish remote activities with your devices, JAMF Pro has tailored their product to get the most out of Apple's built in tools and processes. The interface is clean and easy to learn and navigate, and the Self Service portal available to your end users on macOS is invaluable in reducing help desk requests. Users can use it to install frequently used apps, perform app updates, or run maintenance scripts - all without them needing elevated privileges on their system. The client reporting is robust and scrapes a plethora of information from systems, which can easily be organized into reports on your dashboard to know where your processes stand at a quick glance.
What do you dislike about the product?
We do occasionally have issues with scoping policies to systems for the Self Service portal - at times we are unable to determine why a particular policy app/script is not available to a system that appears to be clearly in the defined scope, only to find the next day that it has suddenly appeared. This might have more to do with how we have the inventory reporting set on the clients or possibly the system check in interval, but the problem seems to be transient and hasn't disrupted our environment much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many sub-groups of Sys Admins in our organization, and having a centralized tool like JAMF prevents us from performing duplicate work. It provides us a central repository that all SAs can use for things like patching 3rd party apps, negating the need for each SA to create update installers on their own for their group. The same goes for new software installs or maintenance scripts - developed resources are easily shared with each group which means solutions get to our users quicker. Since our entire workforce went to mandatory telework in March due to the COVID19 pandemic, we have leveraged JAMF Pro heavily to make sure they stay current with security patches and maintain the security configuration settings we require on our devices.
Great MDM but support and sales team can sometimes leave a bad taste
What do you like best about the product?
I like the MDM itself, which does what I need it to and is always improving.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dealing with support and sales team can sometimes be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to manage small fleet of Mac devices efficiently.
Jamf Pro in K-12
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud hosted Jamf Pro works great from anywhere. Manages our Macs and iPads well. They also have great support people that want to help you succeed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is pretty high, but it works well. I just wish it was cheaper for schools or at least smaller districts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefit is that we can manage all of our Macbook Air and iPads well and all in one place.
I recommend JAMF Pro
What do you like best about the product?
I like the control that you have with the JAMF Pro tool set. I feel that JAMF includes most of the tools you need to successfully manage all of my mac OS devices. From Jamf Pro web console to Composer to package software and JAMF Remote it's all there.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say the one thing that I dislike about JAMF is the time it takes to get feature request into the product. The other thing bugs me is in the JAMF web console, there isn't a unified layout of how things are done. Like some of the pages let you sort columns and others done. Some of the pages let you select more than one item with a check box
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With JAMF I'm able to manage our Mac workforce and keep a standardized user experience for the mac users. We have benefited from using the cloud distribution point (AWS) to be able to install software off site from Self Service. Now that most of our work force is working off site, this is a life saver.
NIce and helpful to manage Apple device

Jamf makes provisioning so much easier!
What do you like best about the product?
I can pull a Mac Book out of the box, turn it on, and wait. All the tools we need are downloaded to it.
What do you dislike about the product?
When it breaks, it's never real easy to figure out why, but Support is great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are not a Mac shop and don't have anyone really strong in support. Jamf makes it easy to configure the machines for deployment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get the implementation assistance. Go to the training. LEARN and participate in the implementation. Be aware and take notes.
Jamf Pro and its matured partnership are great for the enterprise
What do you like best about the product?
So much interoperability with Microsoft, Okta, and ServiceNow
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface still needs some work, but it looks like modernization is coming soon
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to manage our Mac fleet more effectively, and Jamf makes bringing new services easier. Often the Macs are ready before the Windows machines are - even with Microsoft products like Azure and Office 365
