Great remote cloud based storage

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Remote access to your files from anywhere with different levels of access. I find this really useful for allowing access levels to different people in my team, ie. client access vs artist access.
It's responsive and fast and works well from both PC/Mac access.
Sales advisor offered good follow up support and the tech intros were great too. Online documentation means I can send how to videos to my team without having to explain access myself.
What do you dislike about the product?
Installing the platform on my mac was a bit of a pain. Whilst I had no issue installing it, I worry that this isn't suitable for time strapped clients, and they end up requesting a weTransfer link instead. I have mentioned this to my lucidlank sales advisor and was advised that this is something Lucid are looking at.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our data is now stored on the cloud as compared to a physical location. It's really quick to access and this benefits us as we often work from different locations, our office location is never fixed.

LucidLink is the only cloud based workflow that truly works like external disk

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Before we started using LucidLink our team was working from a Google Drive. Not only did we run into many relinking issues, but we were also unable to properly stream files.

LucidLink allows you to work straight out of the cloud, with no manual downloads needed. This creates a single source of truth, in stead of multiple different versions of a project. It is as easy as working on an external disk, without the drawbacks of having different versions.

When you are on a stable speedy connection even high res files work flawlessly. We incorporated a Proxy workflow that allows us to work directly from the cloud even with a less stable connection. And for those times where the connection is flaky, or you need to work offline, LucidLink allows you to easily pin the needed files locally via the Premiere Pro and After Effects Panel.

We're constantly working happily on LucidLink and for those times where we do have an issue, the LucidLink slack group is just a click away and usually solves all our problems. If not, it is easy to create a log and send it to customer support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there seem to be some streaming issues, especially with MXF files, but it is highly likely that this is an issue with Premiere Pro more than with LucidLink

It would be nice if there was an easy way to create a cloud backup. Currently we make local backups using external software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can easily work alongside our freelance partners, where they can open a project mere seconds after we closed it and continue straight from where we left off.

Aside from that it allows our editors to work from any place needed and access the needed material in an easy way.

Cloud storage for Film made easy

  • August 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, folder structure looks/acts exactly like a traditional folder making it easier to connect/search/store, Support is GREAT, super quick to respond and accurate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up users to access was a little tricky to begin with. Support pointing me in the right direction though and was easy to refer back to. Speeds were hit and miss sometimes i.e. I'd log in and have full-bars only to notice 10mins later I'm down to the lowest connection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working remotely and connecting remote teams.

What do you like best about the product?
Speed, reliability and ease of use. The "not needing to download entire files"
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to have some more nuanced role permissions, power users and content creators for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Remote Workflow for a large number of global users, without the hassle of the download it - work on it- upload it pipeline

Best option for remote working Mexico-USA

  • August 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that I can work remotly with my editors in Mexico (I'm in Los Angeles) with out wasting time because I have to reconnect files every single time is worth every dollar! Before LucidLnk I used to have two hard drives one in. Mexico and one in LA (I still do) but now we only upload the footage recorden 1 time and we work with the same virtual/cloud drive with any hasles. The platform is really straight forward to use for me and my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didnt undestand the copy/snapshots but that doesnt mean it doesnt work or I dislike that function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it resolves my mayor problem of working with remote editors, now I can upload the footage with my folder structure and add an assign an editor to a specific project with out a probem.

Very easy to use

  • August 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to share documents and data and the large storage comes in very handy when dealing with projects that have very large files.
What do you dislike about the product?
When working on a word document or excel document, only one person can open it at a time. Maybe its not a lucid problem but a microsoft problem
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration and having all documents stored under one place.

Seamless user experience

  • August 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
From a high level the client/users experience a network-like experience with no need to perform manual syncs or pull data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The disadvantage really is in the fact that internet access is required for this to work. There seems to be no 'offline' mode except if internet is down for a short period during use.

It would be nice to prioritise files to upload/download when there is a bottlneck.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows a flexibile way for computer artists to work on the same media via cloud as if the files were located on a company server.

Lucid Helped centralize our files ecosystem.

  • August 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
All within the organization can access files over lucid and can pretty much do version update with a number, That's great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only if we could add something like file version where we can use same file and have sequencing like older reference files within the same file without having the user to create them manually in the folder.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we all can use and access same file without having to download/Re-upload saving us a lot of time there.

It's a good tool depending on what you plan to do with it.

  • August 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It allows us to work from almost anywhere with little to no issues. It was relatively easy to set up and use. For a new user to start using the tool it does not take much training or knowledge of how the tool works to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Previous file versions are difficult to get to, but still available.
- If the LucidLink Service goes down, you will be dead in the water.
- Taking local backups can be difficult.
- I have experienced several weird little bug with the system, but they are resolved easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is allowing us to more easily work remotely in different states or countries.
