Tool for all of our needs

  • June 08, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion's interface is adaptable for practically anything we need. Their team is super responsive and provide a ton of support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it's so customizable, Notion is hard to start using effectively as a team because you have to design each workflow that it'll be used for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for CRM with customers, investors, and general ecosystem tracking. It's also handy for project management, team management, and knowledge sharing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it.

The most flexible productivity software you'll ever use

  • May 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the modular abilities of Notion. Previously I had to use a particular tool for a particular task, for example, kanbans would be best in Trello, to-do lists in Todoist or Google keep then I would keep my documents in docs and databases in Excel or Google Sheets. What Notion does is replaces all of them and makes me create a very customized layout so if I had to use a kanban + calendar + a few docs I can very easily do it. I can remix and re-create as per my needs so this was the winning feature that made me switch from other tools. A lot of productivity is to do with being in charge and control, this truly helps me take control and streamline my workflow under one roof.
What do you dislike about the product?
The API and data-oriented features are missing. I know these are getting built but how cool would it be if Notion could speak to all my apps maybe and provide zapier like automation. And also being able to pull data out of it so, maybe from my Fitbit daily steps or heart rate automatically gets fed in and then I could see and map it or even take action like emailing the report to my doctor whenever it gets absurdly high
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-Reduction in number of apps related to achieving the same task
-Less stressful workflow management. Generally, after adding so many todos, etc it's really stressful but notions layout actually helps me get work done
-The cost saved that we were paying for many tools that are now inside notion.
- More clarity due to custom layouts: Just a todo list or a kanban would just give a certain level of insights with Notion I can create pages inside pages, different views link different mechanisms like kanban, calendar, to-dolist a database so I can gain any level of insight right in one app. That is powerful earlier I had to open certain things then comment there then text them elsewhere to reply me there. With notion that's a thing of the past.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It might seem hard to setup because there's just so many things you can do but once you figure that part out it's really easy and streamlined. Watch videos on youtube under the "Keep Productive" channel to get a heads up to what you can expect also consider using a template to get started.

Great alternative to Confluence

  • May 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to view, add and edit content. Very visual approach, light and accessible from anywhere since it's browser-based. Useful templates
What do you dislike about the product?
The to-do lists and Kanbans are not as complete as to replace Trello or Jira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create a repository of useful information for employees.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try their templates before taking a decision. They are so well designed, they may already offer what you are looking for.

Use Notion for your Documentation Needs

  • May 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion is my first experience of an advanced documentation tool. I used to work in traditional banking that had legacy systems especially for policies and other things. In this aspect, I like how Notion is, like most other apps, is completely run on the cloud. You will never lose your policies and documents unless you lost your account. Notion also brings a level of collaboration as you can add and tag certain company users into your document for editing or simply reading.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have been struggling with Notion in terms of two things: 1) Version Control and 2) Search. I have collaborators who change and edit things that I write. While it is great that I am notified via email, this online collaboration has seemed to remove real life discussion. The search function can be improved on. I frequently lose documents once people have dumped heaps on me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion helps us with documentation and knowledge management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
None at the moment.

Make your policies with Notion!

  • May 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We are using Notion as our policy and documentation tool. We type and store our policies and processes here. You can also use this for note taking. Moving on to the features I like, it is relatively easy to create a new Notion document and start typing, you can then choose whom to share it to in the organization. Notion also allows you to attach other file types and even pictures which makes this excellent for making documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our company has generated volumes of documents on Notion and it is shockingly hard to find some of them. If you are not using a certain Notion document often, it will get lost in oblivion and is hard to find via Notion's search function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion is a documentation tool. It is all online and enables collaboration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
No recommendations at the moment. I am not aware of other tools in the market.

Notion is a well-layed out system for easily compiling and organizing documents for company use.

  • May 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion is easily organized with plenty of options for creating files to easily and effectively communicate ideas and information. The ability for multiple users to collaborate simultaneously on documents is especially beneficial to productivity. The change logging system is helping in knowing where you last left off on a multiple day project.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have minor annoyances with the interaction process within a note, such as trying to edit a commented upon section usually results in editing the comment instead, but overall, the system is effective and easy to use. There are times would like a potentially more simplified version of inserting object blocks within a document (i.e. inserting an image or placing a video clip)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion provides and excellent means of creating a database of files and logs for company access. A better option for storing information sources than a lumped-together dropbox.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Notion can be a complex and multilevel as you make it or retain a minimalistic simplicity. Explore all of its functions before deciding on a structure to more effectively utilize the tools at your disposal.

Versatile, expansive platform

  • May 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best and worst thing is that there are so many uses, it's hard to know what to prioritize - from Trello-like boards to calendars to document repositories, Notion does so many neat things that it keeps getting more useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the interface is incredibly intuitive, it can be daunting to use keyboard shortcuts for everything or know what you're missing out on. documentation/tutorials may be available for that purpose
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
team collaboration software is often point-solution heavy and requires heavy onboarding time - Notion didn't and has allowed our team to track projects, maintain documentation and keep a comprehensive calendar
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just do it - and spend time exploring the functionality, different types of templates and overall customizability that can best support you and your teams.

Excellent for Large Working Teams

  • May 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you are able to make your own templates on Notion. They have suggestions about how to organize pages, but they also let you create your own templates for a way that you feel most organized. It is a very easy software to use and it is easy for sharing with team members. We keep all of our documentation and schedules in notion for our whole team to see.
What do you dislike about the product?
You pay by the number of team members that are using the software which can be challenging. It can get pricey if your team is too large. I still think it is worth it though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion is helping us to solve our accountability problems. You can set reminders for people and for yourself in the calendar mode. This is making everyone aware of when they are late on a project or deadline. It is very clear and upfront.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think it is an exceptional product for project managers. I am able to make sure that everyone is staying on task. I can also see what updates have been made to certain pages recently. It helps to not to continually bother teammates.

  • May 21, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to create things and is methodological with its organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it were more capable, looking at Coda or Airtable for functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helped me put all my notes and todos in one place.

Google Docs + Google Drive + Sheets + Asana = Notion

  • May 08, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how customizable Notion is. I use it for work and my personal life. Unlike other project management tools, Notion doubles as a really useful note keeper. This is something that I have struggled with while using other apps like Asana which are task oriented. To me, Notion is an all in one. My team uses it for project specific To-do's, storing relevant documents and materials, notes, design system documentation, and questions. I love how in the mobile app you can take a picture and insert it directly into your notes. I found this extremely useful at conferences when I'm taking notes a million miles a minute and taking pics of presentation slides at the same time. I am able to create a page for the conference and a sub-page for each session I attended to keep all of my notes organized and easily accessible. I also use for my personal life as a journal and planner.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is the mobile app is very temperamental. It will randomly log me out and sometimes it is difficult to get logged back in. It also randomly shuts down sometimes. I started using the web app on my phone instead.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storing and organizing every aspect of a project in one place with a team in 2 different countries. A benefit we have realized is that we don't need a super sexy software with all the unnecessary bells and whistles. One of our most used pages in Notion is a super long ever growing page sectioned off with every flowchart, general overview, question, and link we need and we love it. Its so basic but we find everything we need exactly when we need it and that is all that matters. I use Notion and Asana daily for different roles at work and I prefer Notion over Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want asana + google docs + google drive + sheets use Notion
