How FiveTran helped me achieve data automation
What do you like best about the product?
FiveTran has quite a number of connectors that will allow you to get data where you need them.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing to dislike about FiveTran because it always finds a way to provide what you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Right now, I a m still waiting for the availability of Google Ads connector: SEARCH_TERM_KEYWORD_STATS
With this connector I will be able to help our Marketing Team manage their expense on advertisements and campaigns.

Easy to use - plug and play ETL tool
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use - it gives us the benefits of a custom data pipe line in configuring the fields we need without having to have an internal data engineering team
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some additional requirements we need to have met on some sources, which prevent us to switch to Fivetran completely
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to access the data we need for more advanced analytics without needing to build a data engineering team
Production Grade Connector Service
What do you like best about the product?
The reliability of data quality in it's connectors
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost structure. Not great for connectors that are lower MAR. Lack of customization in cost structure
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to build and maintain connectors
This is an expression of admiration for an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solution that is easy to use and requires minimal setup, similar to a "plug and play" device.
What do you like best about the product?
What do you dislike about the product?
Customer support could be faster and more proactive. There have been cases where connectors have stopped working or not syncing and there is no update on the status page or in incident reports. These are jobs that are critical to our operation and we received no news about incidents. We had to reactively reach out to support to ask why the syncs were not working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Extract and load data from multiple sources and replicate it to our data warehouse.
Seamlessly integrates diverse data sources and deploys effortlessly
What is our primary use case?
The primary use case for Fivetran is integrating with multiple data sources. We explored this use case when considering Fivetran.
What is most valuable?
The ability to seamlessly integrate with a large variety of data sources is valuable. Fivetran is an easy-to-deploy solution for organizations looking at integrating a wide variety of data sources. We used Fivetran as a proof of concept and found it very stable during the short duration of our use.
What needs improvement?
In our case, we ultimately did not end up using Fivetran because we were able to do custom connects at a lower cost compared to Fivetran. From a cost perspective, if the number of connectors is lesser, then Fivetran is not the most cost-efficient option.
For how long have I used the solution?
We used Fivetran for less than six months, not more than that.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
We did not encounter any issues with deployment. The initial setup was straightforward.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
During the duration of the time that we used Fivetran, it was highly stable. I would ideally rate it nine or ten out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate the scalability of Fivetran at close to nine or ten.
How are customer service and support?
We did not require any technical support because we have our own core set of developers. Therefore, we did not have experience contacting their technical support.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Negative
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did not end up using Fivetran permanently because we were able to perform custom connects at a lower cost.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Fivetran was straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
We did not require external assistance because we have a technical team internally.
What was our ROI?
We evaluated Fivetran but ultimately did not use it due to cost concerns.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
As an organization, we looked at Fivetran and Verscape during our evaluation process.
What other advice do I have?
For organizations looking at integrating a very large variety of data sources, Fivetran is an easy-to-deploy solution. I would rate the overall solution eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Reliable and Effortless Data Integration Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Fivetran truly simplifies the process of connecting and syncing data across systems. Its out-of-the-box connectors are very robust, requiring minimal setup and almost no ongoing maintenance. I especially appreciate the automated schema management and the reliability of the pipelines — once configured, they just work without needing babysitting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing model can become expensive at scale, especially when dealing with large volumes of data or many connectors. Also, while the platform supports a wide variety of connectors, customization beyond standard transformations sometimes feels limited without moving into external tools like dbt.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fivetran helps eliminate the complexity and manual effort typically involved in building and maintaining data pipelines. Instead of dedicating engineering resources to create custom connectors and manage sync issues, we rely on Fivetran’s pre-built, fully managed pipelines to automatically extract and load data into our data warehouse.
This enables our data teams to focus on analysis, modeling, and delivering business value, rather than on pipeline maintenance. It has significantly improved data reliability, reduced engineering overhead, accelerated time-to-insight, and made it easier to scale as we integrate more data sources.

Gets the job done with our legacy environment
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it supports moving data from a legacy environment. It easily connects to our mainframe database and moves incremental data. When we needed support, we are able to get on a call and solve the issue. I like the number of available connectors, should we decide to utilize more data sources. The recent change in licensing has allowed us to increase our data and reduce our spend. Overall I like this tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our challenge is that we have a cloud hosted mainframe database, we had an issue using the proxy version of the sync tool, and had to switch to a reverse SSH tunnel that requires a bit more work to set up an maintain. After a few months of figuring it out, we are now stable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an easy tool to move our data from mainframe to Snowflake. I like that it does incremental change for the database, which makes the sync time less.
Built-in connectors offer extensive data source integration and time savings
What is our primary use case?
Fivetran is our main ETL tool. We use it primarily to extract data from different data sources and load it to our data warehouse. We don't do any transformations using Fivetran, as it is primarily used just for data extraction.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of Fivetran is its built-in connectors for a wide range of data sources. This covers about ninety-five percent of our needs. It also includes monitoring features which are essential for managing data connections from a couple of dozen different data sources through one tool. We don't need to worry about upgrades as Fivetran manages them. It's crucial for us to have everything managed through one tool.
What needs improvement?
Fivetran could improve by adapting more for technical users and by providing more options for such users. There should be more adaptability in terms of new features. If a specific feature is required, it should be integrated promptly. Improvement in existing connectors with new features is desirable. Enhancements around customer-focused product adaptation are also suggested.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Fivetran for at least four years.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support provided by Fivetran has generally been good, with a response time and competence that I would rate as good. However, sometimes I feel they do not fully adapt their product to the needs of customers.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used some other similar tools in the past that also provided automatic schema migrations.
What about the implementation team?
We have internal people that manage Fivetran, implying that the implementation was handled internally.
What was our ROI?
Primarily, Fivetran brings time savings. It saves us the effort of having one to two data engineers managing the tasks that Fivetran handles. However, since they upgraded their pricing every year and despite discounts, I would not consider pricing to be an advantage.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Our current yearly contract for Fivetran is approximately $70,000. Their pricing has increased over the years, so it's not seen as an advantage anymore. However, we do receive discounts with each contract.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I would rate Fivetran nine out of ten. In the future, I hope Fivetran addresses pricing and features more promptly to improve adaptability.

Expensive but valuable
What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of use and wide-ranging number of "pre-baked" sources. It is very impressive, and the catalogue is always growing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing model, specially the new "MARs per connector" pricing model.
We would use it for more sources, specially, event sources, but it is impractical.
We would use it for more sources, specially, event sources, but it is impractical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is our primary ingestion method from SaaS providers and 3rd party solutions. The way schema changes are managed is very solid, creates consistency on our approach, and saves engineering time.
Low code, low management for data pipeline
What do you like best about the product?
HVR, HVA, many connectors with easy management
What do you dislike about the product?
There is few items to be improved, especially in UI side
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
High frequent near real time replication from on-prem SQL to Data Lake (ADLS gen2) through Snowflake with HVA hybrid,
