What do you like best about the product?
Ease to make connections between different data sources

Connection between different data sources. We could do it with fivetran without using any code

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to get started and also offers the ability to connect with custom API scripts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Only wish there were more native connectors for low-code apps like Airtable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it to push QuickBooks Online data to a Google BigQuery data warehouse because you actually can't export all the QBO data there is with the CSV exports they expose in the web application. Because we're able to move QBO data into a data warehouse, we're now able to do incredible business intelligence platform visualizations.
Good service - terrible pricing model
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Good and growing selection of connectors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing model. FiveTran recently switched to a 'consumption' model from a flat fee. Of course, their costs are not really affected by consumption. The switch is pricing model meant our cost to use FiveTran tripled. The pricing change has caused us to choose another provider.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Primary use was to get Magento data into our BI suite.

What do you like best about the product?
good list of connectors to work with. Each connector comes with schema of the source so makes it easy to work with.
What do you dislike about the product?
SF connector does not have good cloud solution for syncing formula columns and lookup columns

Centralizing all our ETL logic in one location
Using Fivetran to connect to source systems that normally we would have to write a script to connect to the source API

Intuitive, user-friendly tool but with limitations to the more tech-savvy at a high price point

The ability to set and forget with Fivetran.
What do you dislike about the product?
Fivetran is too costly. Pricing can balloon very quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved some of our data access and integration problems. Benefits realized were making data accessible, standardized, and removing the need to hard-code pipelines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be weary of the cost of Fivetran, it can balloon quickly. However, it is one of, if not the most user-friendly tool on the market for ELT.

For their specific functionality, the documentation is excellent. Once the setup is completed, it simply works.

So far, I haven't had any issues. Our only concern was about sending our data through a third party, but their security standards seemed ok

Don't be afraid to contact technical support. They're friendly and very knowledgeable.

We have been using fivetran for a few months now, as of now things are smooth.

We are solving the problem of capturing change data from application DBs, google spreadsheets etc this has reduced a lot of development effort for critical pipelines

Very easy connectivity to cloud systems!

Better overall reporting of all ELT jobs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is no need for Integration engineers to do APIs between our many cloud systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have many cloud databases to connect the FiveTran tool is amazing. Setup connections in under 30 minutes and start ingesting data. In the old days this took a month and a team!! This tool has made my small BI team really look great as we can ingest new data and get it into Looker FAST and accurately!

Disperse data from AWS RDS to Snowflake, its super smooth and easy, and it just works
Great options for syncing databases
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use overall and to set up new connections. The layout makes it clear what the schedule is and where errors have happened.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing for flat files is not what we expected going into it. Because flat files do not have primary keys, every row in a flat file counts as a MAR every month, meaning you continue to pay for historical data throughout the year. This means the cost of some of our syncs are ~10x more than we expected going into it.
The advertised connections by Fivetran may be limited to either being a source or destination, but you do not know that until signing up and getting into the system. For example, Google Cloud Storage is currently a source but cannot be a destination.

Combining data from many different sources (flat files in SFTP, databases, etc.) into both a data lake and warehouse.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider a comprehensive list of required connections, both sources and destinations, current and future, before finding a suitable iPaaS solution.
