So long, folder purgatory!
What do you like best about the product?
Bynder allows us to skip the frustrations of trying to decipher someone else's folder structure and filename logic by building universal structure and searchability for our digital content. We are still in the initial rollout phase with just super-users on board, but the speed at which I can find files is lightyears ahead of our clunky corporate Google Drive experience. There's no mystery with permissions, and everything is at our fingertips on the desktop version and the app. Relating assets to one another so there's a gallery view of files related to the one I've selected is incredibly helpful. Creating collections to be shared with anyone within or outside of the company is fantastic for our real estate business. Clicking a couple of smartfilters, selecting all assets, and creating a collection is all it takes to send all files related to a particular property to a buyer, property manager, or new employee on site at that location. I'm also excited to use the no-login-required uploader to collect more photos from employees during our many events. The UI is clean and easy to navigate. Another major benefit to Bynder is the implementation process. We were guided, step by step, by Ta'quila, who answered our questions, trained our admins, and set us up for success. There are also tons of articles, webinars, and other resources to help understand and use the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to be able to customize the collections experience for the recipient, similar to the portals offered by Widen (which I used at a previous company). Another Widen feature I miss in Bynder is the hover-over "i" option to provide customized in-app clarifications to users about the intended uses of a particular field (e.g., hover over "location" and it might say "select the state in which the property is located; leave blank for files unrelated to a particular property"). Ultimately, this instruction will have to live in a document that a user may or may not easily find, leading to potentially more cleanup after uploads.
InDesign packaged files are a little clunky. Ultimately, we landed on a practice of uploading them as zip files and adding the PDF as a separate asset for those without InDesign to preview brochures, etc. This limits the usability of the Adobe Connector; essentially offering an in-app image bank vs. a fully integrated tool because of the way InDesign works. There's no way to automate a thumbnail image for a zip file (e.g., If the zip file contains a PDF, show page 1 of the PDF by default). This makes searching more challenging.
We were hoping to relate all of our company logo files to one another to make it easy to find the version needed for a particular use case, but the related assets view doesn't visually display the file extension (unlike files shown while searching the asset bank or in collections), so that's not helpful.
It would be nice to easily, within the Bynder app/platform, create a shareable URL for other Bynder users to view filtered search results. Collections are relatively static, whereas filters reflect the latest updates. Sharing filtered searches on the homepage gives infrequent users a handy shortcut to favorite items, but to do so requires a lot of steps including a URL creator tool built into a Google Sheet. Clunky.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have too many folders with a hodgepodge of permissions in our Google Drive, with some files duplicated in multiple spots and some lost to the abyss of employee inboxes. Bynder allows us to serve up all marketing content, templates, images, etc. in one spot to the right people. It lets permissioned employees share assets as needed with non-permissioned employees and outside vendors/partners/etc. Bynder shortens search time significantly so we can easily find what we need. We've also been relying heavily on Dropbox to share print-ready files, which creates another duplicate, and Bynder will eliminate that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We have a relatively small business and limited intended use of Bynder, so our implementation has been pretty painless. The platform offers a huge upgrade over network or Google Drive folders in its searchability and structure. There is a ton of flexibility and customization to make the system speak your company's language. We opted for the clean and simple UI of Bynder over other DAMs, as it was a huge upgrade over our status quo. There are areas for improvement and things I wish Bynder copied from Widen since I was very comfortable as an admin in that system, but we chose Bynder for its ease of administration and simple user interface. I'm convinced our users will agree we're better off today than we were before Bynder.
Powerful Tool, Great Support
What do you like best about the product?
I believe that Bynder is going to allow us to work more efficiently across the company, as well as help us to more easily utilize assets across programs while maintaining version control.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel that the mass upload feature should be more readily accessible to people. It would help reduce initial onboarding frustration as companies migrate their assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are making it much easier for us to maintain assets across programs, manage version control/history, and improving the searchability of our assets for our customers in our app.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pay attention to cases when you setup your taxonomy and make sure you check the API pulls before signing off on taxonomy.
Bynder Unlocks Asset Visibility, Say Goodbye to Folders!
What do you like best about the product?
The entire process - from initial contact through implementation - was extremely dialed in and couldn't have been smoother. Julian, Bryan, and Connor were all superstars.
What do you dislike about the product?
That we didn't get to keep Connor past onboarding/implementation! We didn't have a single negative experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Illuminating to our entire organization the types of assets we have for the Marketing and Sales enablement process. Previously we had files in a litany of places (i.e. SharePoint, various network drives, desktops, external drives, etc.) and not everyone had the same level of access to these locations. NOW our employees are able to access the entire library of items in a single location and in a few clicks without having to know where something lives or if it exists.
Hearst Television - HTV Design Bynder Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Great experience. I like that the system works and has rules and guidance. If you are deciding to build, buy or partner this is a great Buy out of the box solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Adding users in groups of 500 is tough. It's hard to determine what you need before you build. A simple way to add folks would help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration. Single point of truth. Assets and publishing guidance.
Bynder is a great DAM solution for mid size businesses
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and searchability of assets makes it much faster and easier for all levels of a company to find materials for internal meetings and external content. Love the ability to safely share and manage permissions of collections to agencies without copying and pasting into an external folder. The customer service and onboarding team (Nick Nguyen & Lauren Casnave) were exceptional!
What do you dislike about the product?
I love the ability to have derivatives automatically created for photo assets to minimize cropping for social media platforms. The dislike is that the derivatives are dependent on the original file name of the asset that is uploaded and despite being able to change the file name as you upload it to Bynder, the derivatives dont get created by the new file name.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Bynder, we were using Google Drive and it was time-consuming and impossible to easily find assets (photo, video, etc) needed for creative projects and sales materials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I looked at other options (Brand Folder, Canto, etc) and the big difference in Bynder beyond their great customer service/smooth onboarding (Nick Nguyen & Lauren Casnave were exceptional!) and clear pricing is the ability to move out of a folder based mentality in managing assets and focusing on taxonomy/tags. I wanted to move my company and teams away from folders within folders within more folders like in Google Drive and felt that the other options would continue this trend.
New DAM, New Day
What do you like best about the product?
The simple and easy interface will make it more accessible to employees. Built-in Brand Guidelines will also be very helpful. The previous DAM we used felt a bit more clunky and harder to find the assets you were looking for. Followed a more traditional folder structure interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far I have no complaints about the platform. Everything seems to work as intended, just have to sort out how we're going to use it and get everyone trained up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bynder is going to help us make assets and photos a lot more accessible to employees in multiple departments without needing to do a lot of micromanaging permissions in the backend.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The Onboarding experience should smooth everything out for you.
Best implementation experience
What do you like best about the product?
During the sales period, the Bynder team spent extra time to better understand our needs. Our Bynder onboarding manager, Connor, provided the best customer service experience I've ever had. He was super knowledgeable and willing to help at any time. If I were to do it again, I'd be sure to ask for Connor.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with all cloud DAMs, creating work isn't as nice as it is when working locally but that's the trade-off required for creating greater visibility and access to your company's assets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem Bynder solved was granting greater access to digital assets across our organization, and doing so in a user-friendly manner.
Comprehensive Offering, Positive Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to understand UI. Comprehensive technical walkthrough.
What do you dislike about the product?
Drawn out onboarding process. Could have probably condensed into 4 fewer weeks of regular meetings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized asset storage. Creates easy access for all users.
Great DAM and more!
What do you like best about the product?
Filtering and sorting functions are very intuitive and seem easy for our users. It has been a lot of work to set up and get the system going in our organization, but it is proving to make things so easy for us!
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much that I dislike about Bynder. I have expressed my concerns to Bynder over things like how I'd love an admin impersonation tool, and the complicated set up of the print brand template system / workflow and they have said these are things they are working on. They have been extremely helpful as a company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have had a huge problem with customizable templates in the past. Bynder offers customizable templates with very intuitive UX and we have a lot of internal excitement about our new template launch!
Amazing product, great service!
What do you like best about the product?
The Digital Brand Templates are great—it's basically a personalized Canva which is great for large companies with a lot of little design projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I genuinely don't dislike anything yet. We've only just started setting up, but so far everything seems so great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our teams save files in private drives, desktops, email, etc. Bynder will be a one-stop shop so everyone knows where everything is. On top of that, we won't have to spend as much time searching for specific assets, the filter will do it for us!
