Deceptive advertising

  • September 15, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
great UX/UI - great design, clear to read, good use of white space.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deceptive advertising. Essentially useless as free version. Hidden minimum of 5 users, must purchase in groups of 5. Customer service tried to convince me that paying for users who don't exist was a *GOOD* thing.

They advertise a per-user price, but they don't sell a per-user product. Which makes the entire price a lie. they advertise $9.99/user/month. BUT!! if you have 2 users, and you need collaboration, and custom fields and saved searches (which you do, because otherwise there's no "all tasks" view, so there's no way to get an overview of what you need to do that day), then the price is a LIE.

Since the minimum is 5 users ($50/month, paid annually), the real price is $25/user/month, because they force you to waste money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No benefits realized, I didn't sign up after I realized they were a deception-based company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be aware that their price is deceptive. Since you're forced to buy in multiples of 5, the advertised price will almost never be accurate (unless you have the correct number of employees in your company so it works out).

Good for some, but not for everyone

What do you like best about the product?
Asana works really well as a small project management tool. I like that tasks and calendars are easily integrated and that conversations, notes and documents are easily stored and shared between team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the way the software lists the projects as it feels a bit clunky and cluttered when populated with multiple projects. I also wish that sub-tasks were indicated at the highest level because my team members often overlook them unless each task is manually assigned, which can be tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a small nonprofit film production company using asana to track our progress toward goals and activities as realized from our strategic plan.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the format you will use with Asana and think strategically about how to design your initial setup to control for bulkiness and tedious entries.

Clean, easy and streamlined

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to assign tasks to team members, create subtasks, and share comments.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could edit and organize tags. I also would like to see the board layout get more workflow friendly, meaning I need to be able to mark a task as complete and have it not be visible anymore.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on small and frequent tasks with a small team. I am able to connect jotform to Asana with Zapier, so incoming tasks and information is streamlined and easy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You really can't beat the price of free. You can upgrade for more features, but honestly there are loads of great features on the free version. There are also a lot of really useful integrations including Harvest, and a huge variety of integrations you can connect with Zapier.

Team collaboration that beats emails and independent task lists

  • September 13, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Team Conversation - Centralized Tasks
Seems like a lot of features to help collaboration and move away from email for info sharing
Sharing Task lists
What do you dislike about the product?
Can not paste images inline (this is infuriating for information sharing!)!!!
Projects can seem hard to manage, sometimes too much barrier to keeping straight what/where things are organized as per project vs just using as general task list management
wish for easier consolidation of information that is generated outside of the tool (text messages, email importing and cataloging would be very helpful to transition people to the tool)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central organization of information posts to the team
Some usage of task lists and assigning tasks to other members
remove reliance on sending out group emails or texts....
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would seriously try others including Hive ($) but be careful in evaluating. there is an element of feeling locked in once you start sharing....

Asana will streamline your project management

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to use Asana, no coding knowledge needed. It is incredibly easy to navigate the site and add team members. Organizing your notes, project milestones, and team member chats are very easy. I use Asana for client onboarding and it is a great use of the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I truly haven't found a feature I do not like, I wish there was a search feature that made it easier to find comment threads but if I can remember the topic or day it is easy to find the conversation with my team in the notes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to use Asana as a project managemenet tool. It is easy to lay out step-by-step, day-by-day the exact progression of a project my team and I are working on. We can easily upload files for sharing, schedule meetings, leave comments about particular elements of the project without sending a million emails back and forth. I love the chat feature that enables me to work with my team in different time zones without having to make a late night or early morning phone calls and still stay on track to meet deadlines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I love how easy Asana is to navigate and use. There are wonderful features like the "like" button to comment on threads, the chat feature to host discussions with members of your team, the calendar is a wonderful way to lay out day-by-day the progression of the project you are working on. You can easily upload documents you need to share with your team and you can assign tasks to the entire team or specific individuals.

Asana is something I utilize often

What do you like best about the product?
I love the "trello board" functionality, it allows me to put timelines and block off different tasks for different products that I work on since I'm in the UX field. Also, whenever I accomplish something, the unicorn whale is PERFECTION. it makes me feel like I've accomplished so much! The list functionality is wonderful for other personal tasks that I have. I have multiple different lists of things from things I want to accomplish with my portfolio to my yoga resume to start teaching, this allows me to dig deep into what I want to get done and when.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure if I missed this, but I would love to set deadlines for myself in ASANA. Also, put a calendar up and be able to transfer it to my personal calendar. Or have my email calendar from outlook and google integrate with asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business problems, honestly, just the fact that this keeps my thoughts organized and my tasks organized is purpose enough. It's a huge benefit to my lifestyle due to the amount that I think during the day. It's easy to just think of something and type it in to come back to later.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely try it out! It keeps all thoughts (personal and business) organized. I haven't tried working with teams with ASANA due to the fact that my company doesn't use it. But I've recommended it to my company multiple times! :)

Valuable project management tool whether solo or coordinating a team or VA

  • September 07, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's aesthetically pleasing and customisable, making it easy to manage all the tasks and subtasks within a project easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
no problems I've encountered as yet so can't say.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was recommended to me by an online business manager as a way to delegate tasks to virtual team members which I had no idea would be possible as a self-employed person working from home.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it and see - I am delighted with it, no complaints at all.

Manager of Client Success

  • September 05, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is intuitive, easy to use, and helps keep our growing team organized with multiple tasks and projects for our clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, the tool is great and with the improvements Asana is already making, I don't have anything I can put my finger on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problem we are solving by using Asana is overall project management support - when a client has an issue, sends in an email, mentions an item they want us to look into on a call, we need some place to note the item, estimate the level or effort, breakdown the tasks, and then share it with the team and people doing the work. Asana is an excellent place for this shared project management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend Asana for a project management software. We have some clients who use it, and we integrate with their projects, as well.

Quick and Easy Task Manager

  • September 05, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an out of the box solution that you can use individually or as a team. I personally think you get a lot more value out of the product when you use it as a collaborative task manager to divide out different pieces of a project. It's clean UI transfers well to mobile app and makes it easy to always see how much you have due at a given time. You can assign items to yourself or others, tag tasks to projects, have chats within the task or project, etc. There is a slack integration too but I haven't used it.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of desired features are hidden in the paid version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking tasks, recording projects, splitting out team responsibilities. It's great that it's shareable with my manager too so she always knows how much is on my plate. We can have chats in Asana too so that communication about a project stays within that project
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a shot, but it's best for a team.

    E-Learning

Great, but can be a bit too complex

  • September 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is great for project management as it allows you to properly track any task along with who did what, when and how. It is also a very good collaboration tool for such purporses.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a steep learning curve apart from its basic features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana allowed each of our internal teams to have a board to track all of their current issues and how they have been handled, watch over open issues and collaborate on them. It has forced the entire mentality of the team to change from spoken word to trackable actions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While we are still using Asana for some purposes, we have now moved a large portion of our projects' management to daPulse. While daPulse itself suffers from a few - different - issues, it also has several distinguishing features, and ultimately, it is worth a look before making the decision.
