Pleasant to use, great for task managing with few drawbacks
What do you like best about the product?
Clean, understandable interface, tasks are arranged in a logical order. Project collaboration is a beautiful thing to witness
What do you dislike about the product?
Projects can disappear with a few wrong clicks, mistakenly completed tasks can get separated from the parent project topic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeps everyone on the same page to say the least. I dont know what we'd do without it
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of the templates they will save your life!

Asana provides great assistance for our team to help project manage.
What do you like best about the product?
What helps our team the best, is how easy it is to create, schedule, and assign tasks without having an in-person meeting. Half of our team is remote, so this is extremely important to us. Templates are extremely important to us since a lot of our projects repeat. We can create a master task list and we copy it over every week! I think we would get very frustrated with the product if it didn't have that.
What do you dislike about the product?
My team has a hard time getting on board with asana 100%. The biggest factor for them, is they don't like how you can "complete" and check off a task, but then it goes away from your task list. I have explained the calendar view and how to add tags to make the search functionality better, but it isn't sticking. Possibly having a "completed tasks" bank on the right or something might help them?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Asana for project management to keep track of deadlines and who is working on what. I personally benefit the calendar view, for when I am away from the office, I can see what the whole team is working on this week so I can jump in on any project if my tasks list is light.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The newest HUGE features I have seen in Asana that I have seen are team communication tab and the dashboard. Both of those features we don't even touch.
Project Management that can function for a wide range of industries
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to assign tasks to my teammates without having to write out separate emails. I can make note within the task and assign it in a flash!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing right now! If it could just complete the tasks for me :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We lost an employee and added asana. We are down a person, but increasing productivity. It's an amazing tool for scheduling and managing tasks//projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the modules and learn all of the functions that you wouldn't automatically go to! Taking the time to watch the videos and read through the help blogs allowed us to fully maximize our use of the software. And work with someone on the support team to help brainstorm how to structure your asana as well as you can. It's a versatile software.
I Can't Get Through My Day to Day without Asana
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is simple, easy to use, and great for collaboration or just getting your own projects organized. If you're a small team, it has the power to do everything you need it to do for a really great price.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at this point. We've used other task management software before and this has definitely met all our needs, was easy to implement, and is user-friendly even for those that aren't super tech savvy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company is all remote workers, sometimes it hard to know where everyone is in the phase of a project. We needed a better way to not only get organized but see what our team members were working on. This solved all of that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not sure it's the perfect choice for full project management. The subtasks and conversations can be a bit clunky, however for independent employees that collaborate infrequently, it's the perfect task management tool.
Asana Made Doing My Job Easier
What do you like best about the product?
I love that my entire team is on Asana in the different projects that they need to be involved in, and nothing else. Keeps everyone focused on their tasks, not everyone else's. It's also helped me keep track of where all projects are and how we can improve.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like a time tracking element. Would be very helpful for me to know how long people are spending on each project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly, I'm keeping my company organized. I have 26 associates all working on different projects and I need to see their status in real time and not have to reach out to them and ask them. My assistant puts all their tasks in and they update as they go. It's very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd highly recommend you do the free training sessions with Asana and watch all the videos before you start the process of setting up your teams and projects. Once you have a full understanding of the product you're able to get the most out of it. I'd also recommend having one person on your team involved in implementation and management that is not YOU, the administrator who needs the status updates. Having a project manager has saved me tons of time and money.
Effective project management platform with areas to improve
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to customize teams so that only certain people within an organization have access - only see what they need to see. I like being able to assign the tasks & give deadlines. I like that they added a start date feature recently.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was an option to turn on a chat notification pop-up for some of the team chats - not all of them but it would be a feature you could toggle on or off. for example, we have a team we created in asana just for our team members to instant message. we like that we are able to monitor the conversation so they aren't discussing no work matters (unlike our experience with Skype messaging). However, Skype allowed a pop-up to appear in the bottom right of their screen when they received a message so they didn't have to keep it maximized at all times in order to know when they had a message. i have suggested this numerous times on the message boards & never received a single response from the Asana moderators.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Drastically cuts down on emails (when people use it properly). I like being able to go back & see what things people have completed & deadlines that they have missed. I do think the Dashboard tab for Admins should be better organized to give a company-wide summary of people's pending tasks, overdue tasks, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider Slack instead if you're looking for something more geared towards messaging. If Asana could improve this feature, they would be able to really compete with Slack in that field because the project management aspect is so much stronger with Asana.
Amazing for Team Productivity!
What do you like best about the product?
Attachments! So huge! No more need for Gmail and drive, keeps everything in one app! I love subtasks, they are amazing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the comment system. It's great but I wish it would just be organized a bit better in the sense that two people can have a conversation and then the thread is completely buried. I think individual tasks chats are the way to go.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have increased efficiency in our company tenfold. Communication is up and team morale is up. Feels great to tick things off the list.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Even if you use it to keep track of one project at a time, it's amazing. The ability to share attachments is one of my favourite parts.
I can't complain much! The best for personal and profesional task organization.
What do you like best about the product?
I like to have all of my task in just one place, no matter the project. Besides, it allows me to see it in calendar and also my progress wich really helps me so I know everything that I have accomplished. My favorite feature is that you can create checklists inside the already created ones, so you can organize the steps you need to accomplish to get something done. And! It has many funny features as well: the little creatures that fly on the screen when you get something done are a plus.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the mobile version-I'm talking about the Android app itself- were much more complete. I can only see and check the things that I get done but I can see the calendar view or my inbox, wich are my favorite things. Also, I would like to see in the calendar the things that I get done when I don't necessarily add a deadline to it, so the date that it takes is the day that I got it done. Besides that, the only thing that I might complain about is how slow it might be sometimes, but thats just because of my internet conection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was working with a client that used to pay me by finished task, so the progress bar really helped in see how many had it finished and calculate how much I needed to charge. Also, as I use it for personal projects as well, it helps me to organize my task per client, per project, and keep all listed and have it right there for anytime that I need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore it! It has many features.
Intuitive & Robust
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is slick and easy to use--tasks, projects, and groups all make intuitive sense and can be customized in a snap. Learning the ins and outs only takes a half hour or so, and Asana provides some awesome instructional videos.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it was was easier to delete tasks, because you do accidentally make new ones quite often by mistakenly hitting Enter. The hotkey for deleting tasks is a little awkward (Tab + Delete)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helped our small team manage multiple projects without having important tasks fall through the cracks. It's made us all far more productive.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it. Spend 30 minutes learning how it all works, and you'll quickly see how much you need it.
Works wonders for keeping our list of service calls organized
What do you like best about the product?
I use Asana for various personal tasks, but my favourite part is the new boards functionality. I use this to organize our various service calls (equipment maintenance), moving them through various stages from quoting to invoiced/followup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The boards features are still very new, so looking forward to additional filtering capabilities (e.g. filter by tag).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helps us to know what the most important jobs are at any given moment, what stage they are in, and how to move them forward.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it. You'll (probably) love it.
