Great for small business with multiple teams/departments

  • October 19, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
The status updates and the ability to hold conversations outside of the project dashboard is great. Keeps our team extremely organized and on task.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I wish Asana had was integration with to-do apps like Todoist. I know Asana has a separate widget but for people with existing todo programs for their personal use, the integration would make using the app way more enjoyable. I also wished you could post events like meetings on the calendar without having to create a card/task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We specialize in multimedia, so we're using this as our primary source of organization when creating video games, filming, and making music. We definitely intend on upgrading to the full suite.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great tool for project management and team communication

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is awesome for managing projects that have concrete deadlines. I love that the interface is very intuitive. The options that are provided for the ways you can build projects, and assign and track tasks, really give us a lot of flexibility. We cut out so many emails by being able to assign tasks, let someone know that we are waiting on them, or add comments and files to tasks in progress!
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like there are features of Asana that I still haven't discovered yet, which means I'm not making the best use of it! One little feature that would be nice to have is a way to boost a task in someone else's workflow, by adding a poke, star, or flag for urgency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No more losing track of who got what done on which project! We save time because we don't have to check in with each other by email or in meetings to find out the status of our projects. One extremely useful thing is tracking contact with vendors - we can maintain on ongoing task and just note the last time we were in communication, then set a new due date to follow up a few days, weeks, or months later, depending on what is appropriate!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your organization regularly works on projects that require input from multiple teams, and have concrete deadlines to completion, this is the right tool for you.

Excellent app to manage and track sprints and tasks.

What do you like best about the product?
The UX and the intuitiveness of the application is great. Love the way everything works and the easy with which everything flows. It is so easy adding tasks to projects and creating sub tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have been using Asana for a month now, and have not found anything to dislike yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Asana to track the progress of my user stories and create tasks and sub tasks which helps me better estimate effort.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Personally I feel Asana is a great application to manage projects. The dashboard is lively and intuitive. It feels great to be able to manage everything so easily and the color coding feature helps segregate and categorize tasks a breeze.

Awesome Productivity Tool

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Layout is easy to understand and works for my brain. I just signed up this week and already I am getting far more done than I was before! My staff and I get on the phone for meetings and can take notes in the app, rather than have notes in strange places. The projects feature has helped me improve my focus and get clear on goals and the pathways to achieve those goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not encountered anything that I don't like yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Productivity and getting things done better and faster! I am a great organizer, but this has increased my organizational skills in ways that I wasn't aware.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend this product!

Very Useful

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that I can organize my weeks, all with using one helpful tool. Whether I think of something I need to complete or any of my co-workers, we can just add a quick task. The fact that in each task you can put the description and add other sub tasks that relate to what you are trying to do is awesome.

It really allows me to stay on top of things without trying to remember every little detail.

I also like putting my updates about the project in the comment sections, so my teammates can take a look to see where I am with something. The email reminders everyday is pretty cool too, just in case I forget to login and check.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can honestly say I haven't found something I don't like. Overall this app/website is very useful and user friendly!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whether my company has a project we or I need to work on, we automatically go to Asana.

So I am able to come up with a solution to any issues by corresponding with my colleagues about the topic/issue via this website without it disrupting the work day.

My boss also assigned all my onboarding things I needed to get accomplished to get more familiar with the company, when I first started. It was hands down unlike any other thing I have seen at previous jobs. It really allowed me to know which direction I was heading and how to get there.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
DO IT! It will seriously keep you organized and on top of all your tasks. I have already recommended this website/app to others. I love it and don't know where I would right now without it.

Keeps my professional and personal life organized!

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can have it up on my computer screen or phone and add new tasks at a moments notice. Working at a start-up, I have last minute tasks that come up all the time and it's too easy to have things fall through the cracks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, really. It works just like I need it to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For projects and tasks that need to go to others, I need to make sure that they are assigned in an organized way and not just lost in emails. I am easily able to assign tasks, add notes and resources, and check on progress in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a user-friendly way to organize day to day tasks as well as long-term projects, this is the tool for you! I never miss a deadline because I forgot...as long as it's in Asana, it gets completed. I use it for both professional tasks and to keep my busy personal life organized.

Love Asana

What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to use, change, and alter for me and my workplace's needs. We stay organized, and can keep up with ourselves, clients, projects, and each others tasks and see where we are in the progression of each client's task.
I like how there is a mobile app that I can use, for when I want to work on the road, or remotely.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of the good features are premium only, and we're a small company with a very strict budget. Even the follow-up and 'can't do this until this task is done' type features – small – are on premium. I also wish I could sort my tasks by due date, but still have "Today", "Upcoming", etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
More organized and I enjoy knowing what everyone is up to that day, week, month...etc. I know deadlines and when to expect the work to be in my hands' or the clients. It allows us to be transparent with each other, as well as keeping each other updated.
Some people don't use Asana in our company, and some do. Those who do stay up to date, and meet more deadlines that those who don't. Those who don't use Asana continually ask the status of projects, even though they have access and have an asana account. They just choose not to use it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it. You can create your own templates, and customize each task for those 'special cases', or certain specifics to each project. Keeps me updated and on track.

Time-saving. Life-saving.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and is always a pleasure to work with. The calendar is great, and if I could I would make it my Asana homepage! The project split is awesome, and creating a task is really simple to do. On the odd occasion I need to expand on a task, the additional notes, attachments and comments are great for making sure I know what I need to do when arriving at my next task on Asana. Also, being a graphic designer, the UX is beautiful and means I can find all features easily and quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Task deleting is a bit complex and can be a longer process than it should be. I live on the calendar, so I think there needs to be more colours for projects to split them off, perhaps a hex colour picker? I would love to just have the calendar as my hub, i don't really use other pages in Asana. As a sole trader, I only need to see an outline of tasks in a week and from there I can access everything else I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I manage every task I have through Asana. Being self employed means I cover everything in my business, and it can all be managed day by day in Asana. Nothing gets missed, and my week is scheduled before Monday's cup of coffee has gone down!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. The software is great, easy to use and can be used by a single entity or a big team.

Organize and Prioritize!

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like best for Asana is the board system and how I can drag images easily into each task. Since I work with a graphics team, it is important to know all of our tasks and what images and layouts are needed. The simple interface allows us to easily navigate and we never miss any messages or deadlines.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I dislike about Asana as of right now (: Although we are only using the Free program, we found that all the included tools offered is all we need for our team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I brought in Asana to our small team (Digital Content Team) for easier communication when I, as a project manager is really bombarded with meetings and other obligations. It really shortened the amount of e-mails we got and also other parts of our company has found ways to utilize it for better transparency on information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a small company that has many separate teams that would like to reduce the amount of transparency and work together, Asana is a great option to really hone in on delivering great output. You can focus on the task at hand rather than scrambling through 10+ e-mails just to get that one sliver of information you might have missed. With Asana, my team was able to not miss any deadlines and communication was so streamlined that we all knew what we were doing and most importantly, why.

Asana helps manage all the things

  • October 19, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature for me is subtasks. The ability to create checklists, with associated tasks, is exactly how my brain works. The chance to see this in a digital format is the best!
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a small thing but I wish that I didn't have to click out of a task to stop editing it. Often I press enter/return and create another task that I don't need. Then I have to take the time to delete it. Assigning tasks to an individual is also difficult to do strictly from the keyboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Asana as a project managment tool. I'm able to list all of the tasks that need to be completed in the same way my brain functions, allowing for more efficient work. I'm also able to share tasks with my contract team.

This allows allows all of us to work toward completing the project together. We can see who did what, when they completed it, and what else needs to be done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jump in and use the system!
