Game changing for knowledge management
What do you like best about the product?
Re-use of data - you can instantly find answers to questions, summaries of topics and curated lists of tags and insights from past research, making research faster and cheaper as yu don't have to re-run studies to find answers you already have. Dovetail are always innovating and updating the product and listening to customer requests.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's very expensive. The learning curve (whilst easy for basic tasks) is fairly steep to really get it set up for long term cross project sharing of insights and finding insights in a sea of data. The product frequently changes with new updates, sometimes for the better, but sometimes without notice moving things around so they become harder to find or use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ANswering research questions. Analysing qualitative interviews. Correlating similar topics together.
Great tool that helps researchers analyse qualitative data and create insights
What do you like best about the product?
When we started using them 2 years ago they were the best available platform for scaling user research and analyzing qualitative data. Their trascription capabilities, ability to tag the trascripts by theme, create insights and highlight reels is what they do best on the market.
What do you dislike about the product?
They are overinvesting in AI features and as a result of that costs of their serivces have increased dramatically and to be honest the AI features they have are not worth the price increase because they are making us only maginally more efficient in our work.
What is more, their packaging is created in a way that they are making their enterprise users pay for their AI investment by charging a very high price to be able to have features like SSO but at the same time offering the same AI features which are actually driving the price of their services up to all the users on the their free plans.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping us be quicker when conducting user research projects. I also serves as a repository of all insights we collect from interviewing users through our continuous discovery interviews.
Dovetail has made a huge impact to Design Research for our team
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail saves our teams so much time on synthesising user insights. Mainly with their transcription and AI insights powered by Antropic. Being able to create insights for research means we can segment and single out special interest research that we can then present rapidly to the client and thus accelerating our product design process. Having the ability to live-collaborate with the design members on a single client means we can build out tags and insights much faster than sticky-notes on a screen. We also hand over the repo to the client who can continue to build out the insights as more product testing happens in the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's careful to be mindful of the AI insights, make sure you check it thoughoughly. This is on the human-in-the-loops responsibility, not so much Dovetail though. I'd like to see more in-app quick tutorials and embedded help but i'm sure Dovetail have this planned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail saves us time with user research and insight collation. Less time is spent synthesising research and more time spent on improving product flows from the insights. This has drammatically increased our workflow and clients have noticed how much deeper our user insights have become.
Great Platform for Research Collaboration and Basic Knowledge Management
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail gives me the ability to organize and present research reports in a graphically appealing way.
What do you dislike about the product?
Uploading files is more onerous than it should be. I have to hand-select each file I want to upload and then tag it myself. There is a good opportunity for Dovetail to streamline this process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail has allowed me and other research and insights professionals at my company to store our files in one place - a repository that is searchable and graphically appealing. Before Dovetail, most of our files resided on Google Drive and were not easy to find. This has allowed us to get more users to "self serve" as they can now find relevant research without making a request.
No more excel for data management and analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Very clear and easy way to manage data and analyze. I like the summary insights it gives too which get me started in my thinking. Intregrations for recordings and transcriptions are great as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the AI is yet to develop and give me more accurate insights
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data management and analysis. I no longer need to use Excel. I use it for imaoct measurment and reaerch projects
Great software for UX research
What do you like best about the product?
Simple interface to use and actually fosters collaboration (vs others who just say it).
We conducted UX and buyer journey research and Dovetail played a big role

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes seems cumbersome to use but gets better over time. Overall a good experience
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're constantly engaging in UX research and buyer/user journeies across multiple systems. Dovetail is great for gathering and centralizing all those insights and provides a foundation for our team's decisions
A seamless experience for organizing, analyzing, and sharing user research insights at scale
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful aspect of Dovetail is how it simplifies organizing and analyzing qualitative research data in one place. Its tagging system and ability to link insights across projects make it incredibly easy to spot patterns and share findings with stakeholders. One big upside is the collaboration—it’s straightforward for teams to comment, tag, and build on each other’s work, which speeds up the research process and ensures nothing gets lost. For example I use it a lot for thematic analysis. It's much faster than with any other tool I know.
Dovetail is a tool that really keeps research focused on what matters: uncovering and communicating insights.

What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful aspect of Dovetail is its limited support for quantitative data, making it less ideal for mixed-method research or projects that rely heavily on numerical analysis. Additionally, while the platform is excellent for small to medium teams, the cost can add up quickly for larger organizations or those needing advanced features across multiple teams. These downsides can be mitigated, but they’re worth considering when deciding if Dovetail is the right fit for your team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dovetail solves the challenge of managing and making sense of large volumes of qualitative research data. It centralizes interview transcripts, notes, and other artifacts in one place, eliminating the chaos of scattered documents and emails. By offering tools to tag, group, and visualize themes, it streamlines the process of turning raw data into actionable insights.
it helps me to scale and industrialize user research in my organization.

The Best Research Tool for Product Design Teams
What do you like best about the product?
I remember a time before Dovetail. We typed up insights/verbatim comments on post-it notes in Miro. It was chaotic, disorganised and we missed important insights.
With Dovetail, my team can effectively review interviews and other data all in one place and move through the research process. It's clever features like searching for specific data, or it's simple UX like highlighting - all make up for an efficient and easy research experience.
Dovetail are constantly striving for improving the tool, and when I think it can't get much better than this, they come out with a small yet thoughtful quality-of-life improvement that I can't help but feel delight over. It's a tool I can't live without, and a tool I will continue to advocate the use for in my small team.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. Even when I discover a bug, I report it and it gets rapidly fixed. No complaints

Reviewing feedback in an effective way to gain insights. An all in one place for storing and archiving user feedback data. A powerful tool for uncovering user problems and needs
An essential tool for internal and external research
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to organize raw research input and get to the findings
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. It is a great tool. The feature set and the UI is exactly on point
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding what the business needs are and eliminating bias when looking for solutions
Great product if you're willing to commit to the user research discipline
What do you like best about the product?
Dovetail is a great tool to centralize, analyze and leverage customer insights. It helps us be intentional with the information we're trying to collect from our customers and share insights to colleagues. I use it monthly basis and even though I didnt have any formal training on it, I can easily find my way around in most cases. They just released a bunch of new features, such as Channel, which I am really excited to experiment with and integrate with our various customer insights sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tagging system can become a bit complex to leverage in an optimal way. The folder/project/tag relation could be made simpler as we find ourselves often ending up with multiple tags that are very similar but act independent. This skews the weight of insights when running analysis.
