Robust collaboration features improve document sharing and enhance productivity but integrating live collaboration could enhance efficiency

  • May 21, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 to make PowerPoint presentations, Microsoft Word to put together memos, and Excel for building financial models.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features with Office 365 are Excel's robustness around financial modeling, which is super helpful for my job.

Office 365 brings a very strong return on investment through time savings and different efficiencies. We would never cut it as it is table stakes - it is necessary to operate in our world. The biggest KPI is functionality, specifically the ability to execute the work that needs to be done.

What needs improvement?

Office 365 could be improved in areas such as their collaboration functionality. I have used it before, but being able to work on documents in a cloud-connected manner with co-workers simultaneously would be super helpful. This feature is not available in the version we have.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have approximately 15 years of experience with Office 365.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We haven't used a different collaboration tool before this; we've always had Microsoft. We currently have both Microsoft and Google Suite.

Some main differences between Microsoft and Google Suite are that Google is cloud native, enabling collaboration with people working on documents simultaneously. Google Sheets, compared to Excel, is not as robust. You sacrifice some robustness for sharing functionality. The same applies to PowerPoint versus Google Slides, where PowerPoint is much more powerful. The ability to work with others in a cloud native product is the selling point for Google Suite and represents a real benefit.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to other businesses due to its robustness and functionality.

We haven't been using AI in Office 365 for document management or data analysis because we don't have Copilot, which is their AI feature. It hasn't been integrated into our work.

Reliability and seamless collaboration elevate team productivity

  • May 20, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Some of the use cases I focus on include collaboration, communication, and information sharing as well as project management.

In terms of industries, I focus on health care and manufacturing.

What is most valuable?

Some of the most valuable features I found with Office 365 include Teams integration with various applications, allowing for the addition of various Teams apps into Teams channels for managing teams and collaboration.

The SharePoint integration has proven beneficial.

SharePoint impacts my project management by providing shared collaborative information where people can refer back to it without having to move the information around; you can just send links instead of needing to download documents all the time.

What needs improvement?

Currently, Microsoft can improve Office 365 by enhancing the persistence of the user experience from platform to platform and screen to screen, ensuring that wherever you log in, whatever you're doing, everything is still readily accessible and intuitive, as you left it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've had experience with Office 365 since it's been released, since its existence.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Office 365 as reliable and stable. I haven't had any significant outages or application errors or failures, so once you put it in service in your enterprise, there's not a whole lot of product issues, mostly user issues.

How are customer service and support?

I really don't go to technical support very often, as we usually handle our own in-house support, but when I've escalated to Microsoft on occasion, they've been very responsive, so I would say they're adequate.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am familiar with other types of collaboration tools, such as Google platforms, although I haven't used them in a while, so it's come a long way since my last experience.

The main difference between Office 365 and perhaps Google is that Microsoft products are much better integrated across all those platform products.

How was the initial setup?

Setting it up is fairly well thought out for the end-user experience at the moment, especially for the initial engagement. They've developed a lot of on-demand help and training resources for new and casual users, so I believe they've done a good job with it.

What was our ROI?

The return on investment is always an improvement. If they don't have it, it's a huge improvement going from no collaboration to a collaborative platform, and I think it's a significant improvement due to the many integration options available.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

As for the pricing for Microsoft Office 365, it can always be cheaper.

The cost is probably at least in the upper two-thirds range.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to others.

Office 365 utilizes AI, and while it's just getting started, I think the integration is still in its beginning stages; there's likely to be a whole lot more integration across all the application stack within the next year or so.

Using AI has proven to be a good resource for creating a first draft when we start getting stuff started.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate Office 365 a 10.

Efficient team collaboration with room for improved setup experience

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 in various environments including Teams.

What is most valuable?

The features of Office 365 are very beneficial. The Teams integration and SharePoint functionality have helped with project management in work and school environments.

What needs improvement?

There are features that could be enhanced or added to Office 365.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have had experience with Office 365 for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Office 365 demonstrates excellent stability overall.

How are customer service and support?

Their support deserves a rating of 10 out of 10 for customer service. I have utilized their online forums to resolve various issues.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not had experience with other platforms such as Google or different collaboration tools such as Adobe. I am interested in learning the main differences between Microsoft and Google for these applications.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most easy, Office 365 could potentially be made easier to use.

I am familiar with the security framework of Office 365, particularly regarding Teams meetings. Special logins are required even when accessing personal accounts, which influences our data protection strategy and benefits the company.

AI is utilized in Word through the editor feature, though I am not aware of other AI features integrated with Teams.

I would recommend Office 365 to other businesses and educational institutions as it serves these purposes effectively.

My advice for potential users is that the solution is very beneficial.

Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Office 365 as very good.

Efficient data analysis and seamless integration improve productivity

  • May 16, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Office 365, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Forms. These tools are used for pivot tables, data analysis, and data maintenance. Our team of 15 members all uses Office 365 to maintain and analyze data.

What is most valuable?

The pivot table feature is most valuable because it helps me understand large volumes of data in a very short time.

The integration with AI will help explore new features of Office 365. Currently, the AI integration is not good and not user-friendly.

Time savings is another valuable feature. Cost savings depend upon the scalability of the business.

What needs improvement?

The regression modules which help with regression analysis are the most difficult to use.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for three to four years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

We did not find any difficulties integrating Office 365.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have experienced stability issues.

How are customer service and support?

We have utilized customer service.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Office 365 from day one, including for personal use.

How was the initial setup?

The setup took a few hours, not just 30 minutes to complete.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have not considered different solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to my colleagues and friends who work in this field.

The solution is particularly useful for pivot tables, data analysis, and maintaining data.

On a scale of one to ten, I rate this solution a ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Integration with various platforms and ease of printing enhance productivity

  • May 15, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The use cases for Office 365 include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and it's primarily for professional work rather than personal usage.

What is most valuable?

The valuable features of Office 365 include easy integration with different platforms, and it's the standard solution because almost all people use this Microsoft Office solution. It's more compliant with different formats.

One feature I use frequently is the ability to print information and papers to continue work or review offline without having the laptop. Printing is something I do frequently.

What needs improvement?

Regarding areas that could be improved in Office 365, they currently have an integration with Copilot, which I haven't used yet. It's not a new feature, but it's something I want to start exploring later. Additionally, more integration with AI could be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Office 365 for three to four years.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't called support for Office 365, so I cannot rate their support on a scale of one to ten.

When I encounter problems with Office 365, I search on Google for solutions, but I don't use the official support at all. My only support resource is using Google.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used a different solution before Office 365, which was with the Google platform. I switched to Microsoft because it's more compatible.

Microsoft Office is more compatible with the formats I work with.

How was the initial setup?

The setup for Office 365 is very easy. It involves downloading and following simple installation steps. There were no issues during the setup process.

What about the implementation team?

I am not involved in deployment for Office 365, so I cannot speak to how complex the project can be. I only work with the installation.

What other advice do I have?

I have experience with Microsoft tools including Office 365 and Windows Server, and Office tools because they are universally used.

I would recommend Office 365 to others, though recommendations are rarely necessary as almost all people I know already use the tool.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate Office 365 a 10.

Needs technical support refinement while offering familiar and accessible facilities

  • May 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The bank gave us Office 365 to work with. I used Google for personal use, but in the bank, I exclusively used Office 365.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 has excellent facilities, it's familiar, and it's easy to comprehend when sending messages.

I recommend it for the facilities as it's familiar to users when they see it and makes it easy to find items and features that we can use.

The scalability of Office 365 is good.

What needs improvement?

I would rate Microsoft technical support as 3 or 4 out of 10. This rating is mainly because I didn't need much support since it works efficiently, though sometimes internet connectivity affects the experience.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have approximately 4 years of experience with Office 365.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The setup process for Office 365 is easy.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

For stability, I would rate it 10 out of 10.

Enabling seamless work on the go and easy access to files with strong productivity features

  • May 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My use case for Office 365 is because it is most suited to our environment. Most companies in Singapore use Office 365 because it is easier to use, and most people have grown with Microsoft solutions from the start. The solution has evolved to Office 365 because it is easier to use and seamless. Especially now with Office 365, you can access your files always on the go. You do not have to use your laptop or connect to the company network. As long as you have a device, even a mobile device, you can actually use it and access your emails.

What is most valuable?

I am currently focusing on productivity and have started using Microsoft Planner. I have had issues with time management because we are dealing with end user support, meetings, projects, and ad hoc activities. Sometimes, it is difficult to track via email and using tasks. I researched online for the easiest way to manage this without paying, which led me to discover Microsoft Planner.

Teams is quite effective because it has tremendously improved in terms of video conferencing and integration. You can use it to call an outside number, making it easier to interact within your company and call mobile phones via Teams. With the implementation of online federation, you can contact or add contacts that are not within the same tenant, making communication easier.

What needs improvement?

What I would suggest Microsoft improve is creating a one-stop shop where you can see everything in a single pane of glass. For example, in Microsoft Intune, you have to access the Entra ID separately, and you have to access Microsoft Intune separately. Although these features are available on one website, if they could create a seamless integration to see everything in a single pane of glass, it would be more efficient. I believe they are working on this already or have plans to implement it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of Office 365 as nine. I have been working in IT for about 15 years and we have experienced crashes on the solution, especially with Outlook and the Office 365 suite. Overall, it is quite stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of this solution as eight out of ten. Now many applications are using SaaS, and when Microsoft developed Office 365, it was a huge step for SaaS solutions, especially during COVID. If we were using on-premise solutions, it would have been difficult for users to work from home, as they would need to install desktop applications to access Outlook and other Office applications. With the integration of Office 365, when you access your files, you do not need to log into your laptop. If you are outside, you can simply access your phone, open your email, and open PowerPoint easily.

How are customer service and support?

I seldom contact Microsoft regarding technical issues, but when I have, they have been quite helpful. Sometimes you have to wait for a while. If they could improve their response time, it would be better. Normally in IT infrastructure, you can have 24/7 ticket prioritization. Perhaps to them our issue may not be P1. However, as a customer, they need to understand it is very important for us to resolve issues, especially if it involves our VIP users. I would rate their technical support as seven, based on my experience.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used another solution before Office 365 a very long time ago. We used Lotus Notes in our previous company.

What other advice do I have?

Based on my experience, I would recommend Office 365 to other people, even to my family. During the COVID period, my sisters and their children had to do schooling at home because they could not go out. At that time, I purchased the family Office 365 so I could share with them, which made things easier. I give Office 365 a rating of 10 out of 10.

Extensive experience fosters seamless user management and efficient compliance backup

  • May 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The common use case for Office 365 exists because everything in today's world is on the cloud. When a user logs in anywhere, they have access to their data. In Office 365, there are different types of licenses, such as Business Basic and Business Premium. Every license has different storage capacities. In Business Basic, users get 5 GBs of storage, 50 GBs of primary mailbox, and 50 GBs of archive mailbox.

In Business Standard, users have access to web and desktop applications, with the same storage allocations. OneDrive storage is 1 TB. Business Premium is a more expensive license that covers all the features of Business Basic and Business Standard. Additional licenses include Entra P1, which is used for Entra Admin Center regarding login, MFA, and conditional access policies. Entra P2 is available for advanced settings for tenants. Other licenses include Microsoft Intune, EMS E3, and various add-on licenses.

Real-time co-authoring in Office 365 is beneficial because users with a Business Basic plan can log in on any platform through portal.office.com and access all applications. However, without a license, mail IDs are not functional.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is the best business platform for startups or small companies. Within the M365 tenant, administrators can create users, track all user mailboxes, check licenses, and reset passwords. Administrators can create PST files if someone leaves the organization, obtaining backups from the Compliance Admin Center. Mail IDs can be converted into shared mailboxes for future use. Shared mailboxes allow multiple members to use the same ID configured in their Outlook simultaneously.

What needs improvement?

I want to improve my knowledge of Microsoft Intune.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have 1 year and 8 months of experience with Office 365.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of Office 365 as perfect because I am familiar with it and it is the best product platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of Office 365 as excellent.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate technical support from Microsoft as excellent.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I find the initial setup of Office 365 easy because I am very familiar with it.

What other advice do I have?

The price of Office 365 is high, though improvements in pricing might occur in the future. The integration capabilities of Office 365 include co-pilot. It is very compatible with Microsoft products, though it may have limitations with third-party tools. Both AI-enhanced features, such as the editor and designer in Office 365, are useful and beneficial. I recommend Office 365 to other people. My clients are usually enterprise-size businesses. I would rate this solution overall as excellent.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Supports seamless integration and process automation while improved mail synchronization is needed

  • May 09, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Currently, I use the Office 365 environment with Microsoft products, specifically the 365. Currently, where I work, that's our business process, and I use Office 365 mainly for everything. If we want to raise and store acquisition, purchase order, purchase request, approval, or apply for a label, we use that. It's used for the full process where I work.

What is most valuable?

I appreciate the features in Office 365, especially the PowerApps and the AI, the Copilot linked to the AI. Lost the permission. I am able to populate the document. I just link it and say populate this in Word. It does that for me. Download this for me. I have it handy. More importantly, I appreciate the PowerApps. Very handy.

The integration capabilities of Office 365 are well integrated. Everything is linked. Everything is well linked. You're able to flow from your processes. Once I populate something on the process side of things, I get notification. I created about ten kappa that they need to do polykappa. We got action plan, and it notified all the possible persons that they have a copper to close and they need to go and close it. It's well integrated. It makes my work easy. It does the tracking for me.

What needs improvement?

Based on my experience, the star feature on the Outlook in Office 365 is not so good. It doesn't give first of all on the mobile app, it functions better. If you use Gmail or Yahoo Mail, you will see all of the attachments in the previous mail on the mobile app. On the laptop or PC, you won't see it. If there's a way it can be synchronized where you can see it just as it is on the mobile app, then it would make it work much better.

Improvements for Office 365 have to do with the fact that although they respond as soon as possible, we have a very large size here. We have almost twenty thousand workers here, so maybe they can attempt to use it a little bit quicker.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 for about a year now.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The initial setup process for Office 365 is simple. It's simple to be honest.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability for the product is important. At the moment, they are still giving us full support for scalability. We just transitioned fully from EX twenty twelve to Office 365. Before, everyone was just using basic features, that's Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Now they have transitioned all of the processes based on the integration fully from EX to 365. They are still giving us full support, and the stability is actually very fine. Once we make a complaint, they resolve it within few hours or days, depending on the risk or if the fixed issues are not possible.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For the company size, we have a very large company with about almost twenty thousand staff, so Office 365 is recommended for mid-year, for large companies, and for small companies.

How are customer service and support?

Tech support for Microsoft Office 365 deserves a rating of seven.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used the Google one, and in Nigeria, we have Zoho too in comparison with Office 365. I've never used Amazon. Based on the ones I've used, I think Microsoft is not actually the best.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process for Office 365 is simple. It's simple to be honest.

What about the implementation team?

In terms of additional functionality, there is nothing much.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price for Microsoft Office 365 is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I am working with Microsoft for Office 365, but I don't know what it's called. From one to ten, my final rating for Office 365 is ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Accountants have transformed report creation with seamless financial processes integration

  • May 07, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

For the Infor product that I am working with, which is a financial application system, all of the accountants love to make their reports and calculations on Microsoft Excel. They use it daily for operations and reports like Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Profit and Loss. My primary use is mainly for financial processes and reports.

What is most valuable?

The key features for me in Office 365 are the formulas that I can create and design my own formulas. This includes functions like addition, submission, IF conditions, and concatenate conditions. These formulas allow me to handle any kind of report I need. It's also highly recommended for accountants and financials to use it for presentation or reviewing tables. Excel is integrated with our solution for Infor SunSystems, enabling a seamless workflow.

What needs improvement?

Enabling macros could greatly improve Office 365. I was making a tool related to Infor called Query and Analysis or Vision, which is inherited in Excel. Through it, I can create a macro, essentially a button executing several formulas in order. Having such a function inside Office 365 would be beneficial for non-technical users to easily create buttons for specific actions, bypassing the need for Visual Basic.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office and Office 365 since 2011.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The deployment of Office 365 is very fast and does not pose any issues.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any stability issues. The product is stable for me.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For me, Office 365 is very good in terms of scalability for my environment.

How are customer service and support?

I have not needed to contact Microsoft support because the product is very stable. I have a technical background, making it easy for me to use. Therefore, I have not needed technical support from Microsoft.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Office 365 is very easy. It's a next, next setup process that poses no problems.

What other advice do I have?

Office 365 is a highly recommended tool, especially for financial processes and reports. However, it also suits users who need to make presentations or review tables. My rating for Office 365 is ten out of ten, as it’s a very good solution.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
