Integration and cost effectiveness drive value and efficiency

  • May 13, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I can do Office 365 and Teams as tools that I've worked with.We use all of Office 365, not just the Windows apps, and we use all security tools, including Skype and Gmail. I happen to have my own business copy of it because it works better for me, so I'm not actually aware of all features.

What is most valuable?

Having everything in one place in Office 365, and all the apps integrate together with OneDrive, and the email management is pretty decent. It's a very well-packed platform, and it all works together. We use Power Automate in Office 365 as an example; we have a spreadsheet of all our software renewals, and Power Automate goes through and notifies us 90, 60, or 30 days before the contracts run out that we need to renew the contract.Office 365 overall is cost-effective for us. We use the Enterprise E5 version of it, which gives us our Office license, all Windows licenses, and a whole bunch of tools, including Power BI, the whole lot. It's really good value.

What needs improvement?

I think when discussing the Word, Excel, PowerPoint apps in Office 365 specifically, they possibly do not have benefits in money savings or time savings. They could bundle in Copilot as part of the Office 365 subscription. I've been hands-on testing for a month, so that will definitely make a difference.Office 365 does not already provide me with some sort of AI features or integration capabilities; you have to have a separate account for that, as it just uses a separate license to work with all the different Office versions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 more or less since it first came out, as far as when I started, but not since rolling out.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't have any sort of complaints regarding stability issues with Office 365; it's pretty stable. We occasionally get odd little things, but it's very rare.

How are customer service and support?

When I contact Microsoft regarding Office 365, they are usually pretty good in terms of support and very responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Deployment of Office 365 is very easy to set up and configure for my needs.Rolling out Office 365 and setting up the users is pretty straightforward. If you're doing a complicated group policy or some sort of group scenarios, then it takes a little bit longer, but you can roll out for small businesses in literally days, and it's not going to take very long.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I haven't tried working with Copilot within Office 365; it's good, but native ChatGPT and Google Gemini are better. They give slightly better results, so even though Copilot's based on ChatGPT, it's not as good.Office 365 doesn't support other AIs such as Gemini; you have to take your document and upload it to the web, as it doesn't have native integration.

What other advice do I have?

I mean Microsoft Office 365.I'd give Microsoft an eight out of ten regarding support for Office 365.Overall, I would rate Office 365 a nine out of ten. I think it's essential for any business.

User-friendly interface and strong security enhance business collaboration

What is our primary use case?

Splunk is very popular and many enterprises are using Splunk, and even some of our customers are using Splunk. Splunk is also very good, but we only integrated with ServiceNow so we don't know the internals of ServiceNow and pros and cons of Splunk.

SolarWinds is also very powerful. I have integrated SolarWinds with the ServiceNow infrastructure.

I know what SolarWinds does, but I am not a dedicated infrastructure resource. I'm a pure ServiceNow consultant.

SolarWinds is a very powerful tool that can scan the client network or any network and get appropriate results on whether which server is down, which component is down, or which network component is not working. In the past, we integrated SolarWinds and whenever any network component went down, our integration created an incident in ServiceNow immediately.

SolarWinds is much more than a monitoring tool. They have database offerings also, but I know it as a monitoring tool and it was very powerful.

Device monitoring and server monitoring are what we work with. That's what I know about it.

What is most valuable?

Collaboration and Teams channels are the most powerful tools that help us organize our day-to-day activities and really help us improve our business and add business value.

Collaboration is the key to address any gap either in enterprise processes or technological innovation. Microsoft Teams helps us to effectively collaborate and communicate, which helps us achieve our objectives.

We can trust Microsoft for security. All our business documents are parked on the Office 365 cloud network. We can be secure and should not worry much about security because we trust Microsoft for the security of our data.

In the context of security of our data, the first point is collaboration and coordination to optimize our business, the second is security, and the third thing is that it's a wonderful user-friendly experience.

What needs improvement?

It is already a very matured product, but there is always scope for improvement. Effective use of all products can be improvised with the use of AI, machine learning, and deep learning.

Microsoft is in the AI arena, so products can be improved in the coming time, and we can expect that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I did that integration four or five years back and there have been already a lot of new features added. Currently, I can only talk about the older implementation.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rarely get any issues, but occasionally when issues occurred, they were resolved early by the Office 365 internal team. We never had to reach Microsoft, but I believe they have a very powerful support team, and I don't have any doubt or concern over that.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Right now, I cannot comment on scalability issues.

How are customer service and support?

The cost is justified because the product is wonderful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Price may be a factor, but our organization is too big. I am not involved in any costing because my level is just senior architect. As our organization is big, we can afford it easily. For big organizations, cost is not an issue, but for smaller organizations or mid-size organizations, cost may be an issue. It may be costly.

What other advice do I have?

Office 365 is the main tool we are using for our day-to-day operations. Office 365 provides a very good experience.

We are using many tools and apps of Office 365, primarily Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Microsoft is in the AI arena, so products can be improved in the coming time.

I rate this solution nine to nine and a half out of ten.

Valuable features and seamless integration enhance project management

  • May 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use it for document collaboration and team communications.

For example, we work with mid-sized companies in the tech sector.

What is most valuable?

The cloud storage and real-time collaboration features are incredibly valuable. The integration has definitely been beneficial to our project management.

It is beneficial that we also use Teams and SharePoint alongside Office 365 for better team collaboration.

What needs improvement?

The integration with third-party apps could be enhanced.

Streamlining the user interface would help.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have about five years of experience with it.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The initial setup is generally straightforward.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate Microsoft's technical support an eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is generally straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

Usually, it involves a team of three to five people.

We usually require IT specialists and project managers during the deployment phase.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Office 365 provides a more integrated experience with a variety of productivity tools.

The seamless integration with tools such as Word and Excel sets it apart from other content collaboration platforms.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend that they take advantage of the trial period to see if it fits their needs.

I would give Office 365 an eight overall.

Cloud platform enhances collaboration and security with user-friendly interface

  • May 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Office 365 and have more than 10 users. We have migrated to Office 365 and already used that product.

We're using Office 365 for five years now since the beginning of the company, and this is five years that we are experiencing Office 365.

We have more than 10 customers using Office 365 now.

We have both SMBs and large enterprises as customers.

What is most valuable?

The most beneficial feature of Office 365 for collaboration within my team is MS Teams for communication. We also have a mailbox with 50 GB for one user and 1 TB for another. There are benefits we can use, and it is easy to manage because if there is an issue with the mail, it is handled by Microsoft.

Mail security is top-notch. They provide some of the best security in the world. We have to do a lot of things if we implement on-prem, but in the cloud, they manage everything. All we do is manage creating users and giving the permissions. That's how I see the cloud part.

They are using more security for the mail services and data security with Office 365. They are strict with the security side because mails are used for data transfer anywhere, so I think they are strictly engaged in data security for the mail services.

Office 365 has AI capability, but I'm not using that product yet. I think there's some room for improvement in the system if you utilize AI.

What needs improvement?

The support team needs to improve on the Microsoft side. That's the main issue I see.

There's a need for threat analysis from Microsoft. If those services are enabled for the customer, that would be good. Then we can monitor which users are using bad spam emails and everything from there. So, I think the threat analysis part is very needed for customers.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There's no issue with the installation of Office 365, as it is on the cloud, and that service is everything in the cloud. What we have to do is create the email account and give permission to that MX record and DNS records that we configure correctly that these are there, that MX record goes through without any issue.

It was very fast installation; it didn't require much time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

It is limited to the number of mail accounts. You can scale as much as you pay; for example, if you pay for 50 mailbox accounts, that is the limitation. But if you want to add 10 more, you can pay for the 10 and easily scale.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the technical support for Office 365 as nine.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Integration with Office 365 is easy, and there's no need for any expert knowledge to configure.

For the tenant, when we pay the money for Microsoft, they create the tenant within a day. That is for the transaction period. They are creating the tenant and give us the permission.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The benefit in terms of cost with Office 365 is the same, but the integration is easy, which provides a benefit for the customer.

What other advice do I have?

It is a good product. If we compare it to competitor products out there, Office 365 stands out for the end customer side. Microsoft focuses on the customer GUI side, which makes it easy for customers to understand the product. I recommend it because of the GUI and human interface, which allows customers to set it up without needing technical people. That is the benefit from Microsoft's side.

We are a partner with Microsoft.

We don't interfere with the maintenance of Office 365 because Microsoft handles the maintenance side. We can see updates and maintenance messages from the portal, but when they perform updates and patches, we cannot see the services go down. So, that's the benefit.

I rate Office 365 nine out of ten.

Integration of tools in a single platform streamlines my workflow and saves time

  • May 07, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I work on a project connected to Ministry of Mining and Energetics in Serbia, primarily using Excel and Teams. I use Excel to prepare documents for data input from our associates in the field. This includes consolidation for reports but minimal analytics, using basic Excel functions like average. I also use Outlook as my email client.

What is most valuable?

The biggest benefit of Office 365 is having everything in one place with well-integrated tools. This integration leads to time savings as everything is housed in a single environment, facilitating communication, data processing, data input, and data saving. The existing functionality of Office 365 has evolved to meet increasingly complex requirements, making tasks easier and less time-consuming.

What needs improvement?

Office 365 should improve data synchronization, especially when data is accessed through the web interface and SharePoint portal. Sometimes there is a discrepancy between data accessed via the web interface and through Excel, especially with linked files. It is also essential to ensure that users know exactly where their data is and that they are working with the latest version. Also, the interface should not change too frequently, as it can be frustrating for customers who are used to a particular layout.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 in an enterprise environment for fourteen months. As a personal edition user, I have been using it for several years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no significant deployment issues. Setting up Office 365 on a MacBook was straightforward. However, on Windows, it was slightly more complicated, especially concerning updates, but not overly so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Office 365 has generally been stable for me. There have been no significant issues with stability. There was an instance related to writing Visual Basic for Applications code, which was not related to Office 365's performance but rather my coding skills.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

As an end user, I have not encountered any issues with scalability. The Office 365 environment always worked well, even in a setting with hundreds of users.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Office 365 is easy. You can start working immediately and adjust necessary settings later. However, changes in the interface over time can be frustrating.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Office 365 is reasonably priced. For personal use, it's €10 per month for up to five users and devices, which is acceptable. For enterprise use, the costs can increase, especially with additional tools like Copilot or Power Automation.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Office 365 for personal and small business use because of its acceptable price, performance, capability, and functionality. I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

We manage Windows platforms and experiment with AI-driven task automation effectively since using this solution

  • May 07, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Intune to have control over all our Windows units, to enroll packages, update software, and manage all Windows platforms in Denmark and Norway.

What is most valuable?

I use Outlook, Excel, and Word as the primary tools within Office 365. I have used automation and flow to enable a few simple tasks to learn how it works, but I have not enabled them at a high level yet. I am also experimenting with CoPilot in collaboration with AI solutions like ChatGPT.

What needs improvement?

It is difficult for me to access actual experts quickly as Microsoft support is slow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Mobile Control platform from Soti since 2016.

How are customer service and support?

Microsoft's technical support is slow when addressing issues directly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using Soti, I was not working with any other Enterprise Mobility Management tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I was initially using Soti based on a perpetual license, but now I must move to a cloud solution due to changes in the licensing model. Pricing for Intune as an MDM solution is over budget.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I am considering 42Gears as a potential option because our local vendor, who understands our business well, has it available on their shelf.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Office 365 a nine out of ten. It is comprehensive with its functionalities, and I am not currently missing anything. I do intend to integrate its automation features at a higher level when possible. Overall, I would give Office 365 a nine out of ten.

Facilitates collaboration and efficient workflows for data presentation

  • May 06, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I work in IT and I use Office 365 primarily for collecting and presenting information, but it is not the main tool for my job.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is a stable product, and I find it very useful for collaboration, especially when I use Excel to elaborate data that I later use with Power BI. I extensively use SharePoint for workflows such as document approvals between departments and internal approvals.

What needs improvement?

It would be beneficial to have integrated analytics with SharePoint, allowing insight into workflow timelines and efficiency, such as identifying delays or fast completions for day-to-day operations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Office 365 for thirty years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

I have not faced significant issues with deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not faced any stability issues, such as downtimes, with Office 365.

How are customer service and support?

I have had limited experience contacting Microsoft support, but when I encountered an issue connecting to SharePoint, it took more than a day to resolve.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very quick. I recently changed laptops, and it was a matter of minutes to set up Office 365.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not really involved in the pricing, but I perceive a good ratio between value and cost.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Office 365 eight out of ten. I suggest considering its benefits for collaboration and the potential value it provides compared to its cost.

What was our ROI?

Office 365 is costly, but there aren't many alternatives. It is considered cost-effective as it brings some benefits such as collaboration and time savings.

What other advice do I have?

What is most valuable?

Office 365 fulfills our basic requirements for developing documents and basic forms. It provides a lot of facilities and options, which are very helpful. I use it for document creation which saves a lot of time compared to other document creation tools.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see improvements in the Excel forms. The backend I wrote in Visual Basic could be improved.

Collaborative document editing and seamless online file sharing elevate productivity

  • May 05, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 for standard office tasks such as word processing, Excel, presentation, and email productivity. Additionally, I manage the system as an administrator for my company.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Office 365 for me include online file sharing and real-time document editing where multiple collaborators can work on the same document and see changes in real-time. These features were integrated, likely inspired by Google Docs' success in implementing similar functions.

What needs improvement?

Office 365 could improve by providing better integration with Azure Active Directory to streamline user management. It would also be beneficial if they could offer additional support for non-ABC characters like the Malay Arabic script, known locally as Jawi.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 for more than two years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There were no significant issues during migration, but users initially had some complaints about file accessibility. After several iterations of the OneDrive client, the process became smoother with fewer requests or complaints.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Office 365 is very stable with no network downtime experienced in my region in the last couple of years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is a scalable tool. The scalability is straightforward as it works as soon as I pay for additional licenses.

How are customer service and support?

We use a third-party managed service provider (MSP) for support, who are generally okay but are not well-versed in newer technical details like Azure Active Directory.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Google solutions such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Meet before switching to Office 365.

How was the initial setup?

The setup process is generally easy, especially on newer devices with Office already installed. However, older devices can take up to two hours for downloading and installing updates.

What was our ROI?

There is no direct return on investment as IT is a cost center. The alternative is using free open-source solutions, which makes quantifying the ROI in terms of support man-hours difficult.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to the services provided and the multi-device capabilities, the price of Office 365 is reasonable. A loyalty program offering discounts or additional features for long-term users would be a beneficial addition.

What other advice do I have?

For those considering Office 365, it is advisable to implement Active Directory services for better user management. For students or family users, it is a good subscription due to the variety of available productivity suites. Overall, I rate Office 365 a nine out of ten as there is room for improvement.
