Sharing documents has been easier, especially with remote work.

What is most valuable?

Office 365's most valuable features include its cloud storage and the ability to have the same document accessible on multiple devices. Sharing documents has been easier, especially with remote work.

What needs improvement?

It's sometimes challenging to find a file within a team as it's not always intuitive where it might be stored.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Office 365 for approximately ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable for the most part.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate its scalability as a five, indicating it does what it is designed to do, but there isn’t much room for expansion.

How was the initial setup?

On a scale of one to ten, I would say it is an eight, indicating fairly simple initial setup.

What was our ROI?

There is not a significant return on investment for personal use. However, it might provide some efficiency with time for team use.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Synchronized work across locations with room for improved user-friendliness

  • April 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use Office 365 for business generally. We deal with e-fax, and I was looking at the reviews because I am looking for something similar to Business Central. In my opinion, Business Central is the best that I've seen so far. However, it's not available in the Caribbean, and Business Central is not formatted for this region just yet, so we can't use it here.

What is most valuable?

Mainly, the ability to sync apps seamlessly around our team is valuable. It is a major advantage to work from anywhere, and the ability to sync is crucial for us. We can be anywhere, including home or work, and we can accomplish tasks with everything done in real time. All the apps are accessible. We use Office 365 for business generally, and we deal with e-fax. I was looking at the reviews because I am looking for something similar to Business Central. In my opinion, Business Central is the best that I've seen so far. However, it's not available in the Caribbean, and Business Central is not formatted for this region just yet, so we can't use it here.

What needs improvement?

They can improve on the ease of use for each product. There is always a learning curve, and for apps like Excel, users have to go into training for optimal use. All of the apps should be more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Office 365 for probably about seven or eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The app is pretty slow on Android devices, even on Apple devices, so it is not very fast. It moves slowly, and when contacting support, they attribute it to a system problem, but everyone in the area has the same issue. Thus, it seems to be a Microsoft problem.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is definitely scalable. I would probably give it a ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I would probably rate their customer service a seven out of ten. They do get back to you quite quickly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not straightforward at all. It is complex. I would place it about a four on a scale, with one being the most difficult.

What was our ROI?

In terms of efficiency, Office 365 has definitely improved operations. However, we now have to devote time to learning the product to get the best out of it, which sort of eats into our time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Office 365 is not bad, it's okay. While Business Central is quite expensive, the standard fees are pretty reasonable. I would probably give it an eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Office 365 to others as a productivity tool, though I have reservations due to the lack of user-friendliness. Overall, I would rate Office 365 about a seven out of ten.

Collaborative capabilities improve productivity and secure document sharing

  • April 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We utilize all the business features like sending emails with Outlook, receiving documents, and providing information with Word. We also handle smaller databases and export and calculate spreadsheets in Excel. Additionally, we use Microsoft Forms for surveys and Power Automate, Power Workflow, and Power Apps on the Microsoft 365 cloud.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features of Office 365 is the collaboration capability. Multiple employees can work on the same document at the same time, which enhances productivity. This collaboration definitely impacts our efficiency positively and helps in secure document sharing and communication between companies.

What needs improvement?

I think it would be better if Office 365 enhanced communication about update policies. Providing the possibility to delay or skip updates would also be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Office 365 since 2015, considering our history before migrating to Inario. Our company itself has used it since May 2021. Overall, we have been using it for about nine years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The deployment time varies depending on company size. For smaller companies, it takes a few hours, but with larger, multi-location companies, it can take two weeks or more due to the need for more configurations and security compliance.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Office 365 is quite satisfactory. Occasionally, there are minor issues, but nothing very noticeable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is straightforward. Licenses are purchased and allocated via Entra, and users are ready to go. Scaling is quite easy, and I would rate it a nine out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite easy for normal business use, which I would rate as a nine. However, on the administrative side, more time is needed to configure and check compliance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Office 365 is reasonable, though slightly reducing the cost by ten percent would be welcome.

What other advice do I have?

The collaboration with other companies through Office 365 allows for secure document sharing and access to another company’s data once compliance is met and access is approved. The overall rating for Office 365 is nine out of ten.

Integration and security features enhance functionality, but issues with updates and customer service persist

  • April 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Office 365 primarily for emails. Additionally, I work with Windows and Office Suite, both local and online.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 has great possibilities for integration, such as single sign-on and the Azure part of it. From a security perspective, there are valuable features such as always-on VPN and Endpoint protection. Defender is included for free, and there are options to upgrade Windows with certain plans, like E3 and E5.

What needs improvement?

There are many issues with Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange, making it difficult to identify positive aspects. Exchange has issues such as malfunctioning in specific regions and some features not working for certain users. There are also problems with Windows updates occasionally being faulty. Although it's possible to work around mailbox limitations with an archive or shared mailbox, larger mailboxes would be preferable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows has issues with faulty updates, affecting stability. There are often availability issues with Office products.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Certain Office plans are limited based on the number of users. For instance, a plan that suited my needs could not be used because I have more than one thousand or two thousand users.

How are customer service and support?

I was not happy with the technical support, especially when my issue with DMARC was routed to the Indian support team, who could not resolve it after two and a half months. I requested it to be routed to German support, but it was not. I had happier experiences with the German support previously.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I mentioned potential pricing and tax changes due to political actions like Donald Trump's ideas impacting the EU, which may result in price changes.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Other than Office 365, I have worked with Linux. I have not worked directly with Google but have tried the free version of their similar product.

What other advice do I have?

It's essential to consider the user's knowledge when recommending an Office 365 plan. For example, recommending an E5 license to someone without administrative knowledge doesn't make sense. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Office 365 as a seven.

Collaboration and productivity have improved through effective use of standard tools

  • April 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We are using Office 365 for collaboration, their mail services for communication, and the Office 365 suite for fulfilling all client requirements.

What is most valuable?

The effective collaboration within our management through Teams is beneficial. Even though email is standard, Teams has significantly helped with collaboration. The tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel assist in documentation and presentations. Office 365 improves productivity and collaboration.

What needs improvement?

PowerPoint could have more features to assist users in design. AI features within Word and Excel could be improved as well. Enhancements to AI-based summarization in Teams would be beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been dealing with Office 365 for a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Office 365 is stable. We do not have any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is scalable. We started with fewer numbers and have scaled up as needed.

How are customer service and support?

Our Technology Services team coordinates with Microsoft for ticket resolutions. Personally, I haven't dealt with tech support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What was our ROI?

We see value for money in improving productivity and collaboration.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not part of the cost management. The cost is handled by the admin team, and I do not have insights into it.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate my overall experience with Office 365 as 8 out of 10. I would recommend Office 365 for its capabilities in handling collaboration, secure document sharing, and using standard tools like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for documentation and presentations.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Collaboration and communication thrive with exceptional integrated tools

  • April 14, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Office 365 is mainly used for communication in meetings and utilizing collaborative tools within my organization.

What is most valuable?

Office 365 is a good tool for daily tasks and collaborative activities. We mainly use Microsoft SharePoint, which integrates with other tools to facilitate collaboration such as file sharing among colleagues. Additionally, we use Teams and the email solutions provided within the Office 365 environment. The tool enhances productivity if the team is collaborative, helping us speed up work.

What needs improvement?

There should be RAM optimization related to Teams and desktop applications since they are very RAM hungry. Performance optimization should be prioritized to improve efficiency. Additionally, cost optimization should be considered due to the recent price hikes.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Office 365 from 2014 to 2023.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't faced any challenges with the stability of Office 365. I would rate its stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Office 365 is good in terms of scalability. I would rate it between eight and nine.

How are customer service and support?

For customer support, I rate it nine out of ten. I have no complaints about the support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Office 365 is very easy. I would rate it nine out of ten for ease of setup. The deployment process depends on the internet connection.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost of Office 365 has become a bit costlier in the last few years. We manage expenses based on user requirements, but cost optimization should be considered.

What other advice do I have?

Office 365 is user-friendly, especially when working with Windows as it collaborates well with tools. I would highly recommend Office 365 to everyone. I rate the overall solution a ten out of ten.

  • Review from a verified AWS customer

I tried to use this subscription to create an EC2 machine with office installed. But although I reviewed the documentation and made sure to complete all the pre-requisites still the machine did not create. If anyone can comment some suggestion which could assist it will be very helpful.
Thanks

Office 365 Enterprise

  • June 22, 2017
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

Office 365 is one of my most used applications. I love the way that I can leverage the Cloud capabilities of my Office applications to access from anywhere. I have access from my phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc., and it is always easy. Outlook is nice when I do not have access to a laptop or phone (rare), and One Drive is my file collaboration solution. Although I like the functionality of One Drive, it can be frustrating if your IT team goes overboard on security. :) The single-sign-on we utilize at work keeps me signed in to all apps, and the applications load quickly and efficiently. Office 365 plus the 64-bit 2016 versions of the Office desktop applications is a great combination that I could not function without. I use Outlook, One Drive, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Yammer, and Skype for Business every day, so without them, I would be "dead in the water.

What do you like best?

I like how collaborative Office 365 allows me to be on my projects. Currently, a co-author and I are working in real-time on a project. I could see her typing and commentary while I was making corrections to the APA at the bottom of the page. We can also work asynchronously on projects, store them, and return to them. The ability to work in a browser ensures that I can review, make slight edits to the document, print, and then save. As a person who is moving from a campus computer to my computer, to my printer at home, to my office printer at work, this is about as fast as having a flash chip with me at all times, but I never forget it. It also integrates well with Citation software, similar to Word 10. We have a lot of files we share, and I like how easy it is to access from any location I'm at, as long as I'm logged into my university account.

What do you dislike?

One of the things I struggle with regarding Office 365 is what is the real difference between Office 365 and Google Docs/Sheets other than the price and privacy. At my university, Office 365 is free as long as you are a student or a researcher. As soon as I leave the school though, I'll lose access to Office 365, most of the work I've saved on the system. And while it's... nice? to have so much technology (meaning Access and the other programs that come in the suite) I never use Access but I "have to" have it. I wish it integrated better with my Google Calendar so I could have an app on my phone but if that feature is available I don't have it.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are going to be a full-time single user of Office 365, this might make sense if it automatically updates to the latest Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Publisher. It would make sense to pay a yearly/monthly fee to continuously have Word rather than having to buy the expensive office suite every few years or so. But, if you don't need to update to the latest software, if you aren't someone who needs Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Publisher to be at their most flexible, and if you get around on Google just fine, I don't know if it makes sense to buy it as a single user. However, for large universities or companies that need flexibility, and collaboration for their employees, then Office 365 might be right for you.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I work on a lot of collaborative research projects and Office 365 lets me share files and reading and work with others. However, I really don't like their "calendar" system integration with Outlook, but I've never liked the Outlook calendar. I always use my Google calendar and I wish there was a way to sync those two, but as far as I know there isn't.
