Very flexible and adaptable
What do you like best about the product?
There are a lot of features available for administrators to control what users can see, along with flexible UI forms and permission settings. The platform is also highly adaptable for developers, making it easy to implement and extend feature sets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance can occasionally be problematic, and there are times when SOLR issues arise unexpectedly. Additionally, users have mentioned that completing simple tasks often requires too many clicks, which can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Headless CMS for NPR and flexible for less tech savvy station users.
Brightspot is a powerful CMS
What do you like best about the product?
I love how straight forward it is to build models in Brightspot and how those models connect to the database making it much easier to implement what is needed for our websites. The Brightspot people who work with us are super knowledgable and helpful when I have questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The current UI feels a little clunky and confusing when you are new to Brightspot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspot is making it a lot easier to build a complete end-to-end system all the way from storing data to rendering a webpage or mobile app.
Dynamic and Informative
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspot is a great CMS tool for the Economist Intelligence Unit. Our prior content management system had so many limitations that the BSP CMS is incredibly refreshing and allows so much more leniency. It's allowed our analysts a lot more freedom to create articles while at the same time offering easy features. This has helped our analysts and subedit team to process and publish so much quicker but still quite efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm on the Operations side of the house and am an Admin on the tool. I've sometimes found it a bit difficult to create and set limited roles. Other than that, the tool is great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of content creation, collaboration and publishing for our analysts.
Great capability and flexibility within BrightSpot
What do you like best about the product?
As an administrator and designer, I love using the existing tools and options to come up with new ways to present the content to the users. I love the capability of having machine translation. We translate our site into 40+ languages and the batch translation and easy selection area helps to quickly get this done. I love the batch archive option and being able to archive quickly. I love that we can have a nested hierarchy for the 45+ websites that I manage and being able to lock down pages and through workflow, having those editors edit only what they need to. It helps me and my intern stay organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think one thing that I would like is an option to batch delete permanently in the menu bar. Currently we have to archive first and then delete on an individual item. The extra step can be a hinderance, especially if you are trying to archive and delete 10+ items.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The great problem BrightSpot is solving for me is a way to provide a template across multiple sites. Being able to have a workflow to give the editors of said sites access and help me to manage it better.
Brightspot makes it easy to build and maintain our website
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspot is easy to use and their team sets you up for success.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there is less flexibility than we'd like in design/layout.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need an easy to manage platform to host our paid and free content and a system that will grow with us and we have found that in Brightspot. We have already recommended it to colleagues!
Great team backing an exciting product
What do you like best about the product?
It was easy to connect to our pre-existing headless setup when we switched from one of our old CMS platforms to BrightSpot. We were also able to create new content types in the GUI using ECTS.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the ease of using ECTs was a definite advantage, we discovered a significant drawback as we neared the end of our migration. We found that we had less integration with many of the features that the documentation claimed were available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enabled us to move away from our internal system, which had certain limitations that were restricting our progress.
Brightspot streamlines our editorial process
What do you like best about the product?
Brightspot is a powerful CMS with a clean editor interface. It has helped streamline our editorial process and made content management much more efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a learning curve for both developers and editors. Some admin tasks take more steps than expected and small changes often need developer help. Documentation could be stronger in a few areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspot solves the challenge of managing a large amount of content across multiple sites. It gives us a single, consistent platform to create, edit, and publish stories quickly while keeping everything organized.
Brightspot empowers team to do more without relying on Dev
What do you like best about the product?
After our instance was set up, both our editorial and product teams found they could achieve a great deal independently, without having to depend on our Dev team for every minor task.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our editors would appreciate it if the editing tool menu offered more options, making its editing capabilities more comparable to those found in MS Word.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Publishing multi-media news content across multiple websites.
Click-heavy, but feature packed
What do you like best about the product?
BrightSpot offers a wide range of unique features, such as the capability to collaborate with team members across different areas, as well as numerous AI-driven innovations.
What do you dislike about the product?
It DOES take a large amount of clicks to do even small changes, which is an annoying obstacle when you’re in a hurry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It’s allowing us to collaborate much more easily on content and elevate our work with AI without having to switch platforms.
Helping out where ever they can
What do you like best about the product?
We do a conference every year that is hosted on Brightspot and they have help us out so we could get it going. Now that we have been doing this conference for 5 years it is still working great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Brightspot can be slow at times that makes our calls slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a way to give non tech people a way to create content for our website, also we use it as a db to host our conference.
