A great option for those who need more PLM & QMS together
What do you like best about the product?
Arena allows the business to control the software configuration instead of IT.
Item control of information and associations to other items (BoM/Where Used), association to other objects (Quality Processes, Training, Changes, Projects, Requirements, Tickets, Files, etc.) make it easy to follow along to see what is really happening with your product.
Ease of use, training was simple to provide to all the users and in many cases they could train themselves. The buy in took a little more effort than actual training to use the system. Easy access to online help. Normally quick response to issues. Supportive group from day one and continues throughout to ensure you are able to develop more useful ways to utilize the system to support your business.
Continually improving the system to provide more functionality.
It is a cloud SaaS that ensures that no matter the location of the users or systems in use they can all access and continue to use it with just a basic internet connection making in house infrastructure changes/upgrades unnecessary.

What do you dislike about the product?
If you do not have an understanding up front about the system and most of the capabilities it makes the initial development more difficult. It is best to really layout how it works and how you want things to work within the context of the system before finalizing the configuration for process validation.
The system has a few quirks that do not always make sense. Deviations do not actually change the items yet it triggers training to the item document without connection to the deviated document. On Changes you cannot have people perform different functions and appear in different stages of the review and be allowed to approve multiple times, if you approve once you approve for everywhere you are listed.
Some data you would expect to be in reporting is not there.
You need to be careful on the selections made during search as you may think something does not exist, yet it does. More training oriented.
In Quality: If the final step is "Complete" it does not mean that the process is complete, that is an extra step. Also, connecting quality processes to one another can only be done if at least one step is open to allow for the connection. The consideration of bi-directional reference is there, but not always properly displayed, knowing how to connect the data is important.
Would love to see attributes show where it is actually used within the given world, would assist with further development.
This is not per se really a dislike, just I think it needs more development. The help section shows how to enter data step by step, but does not really explain "how" it is expected to work to gain understanding of the "Functionality" of the system rather than from just a general user.
Workflow is not exactly what you would expect with respect to Requests and Changes, this could be better, but it is manageable if defined properly and the process managed appropriately.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility!
Bill of Material visibility, Where used visibility. Clear indication that items are under deviation. Tracking of basic training.
Overall it is the Visibility to what is going on with the multiple products from top down and bottom up view through knowing what is pending changes and what has pending quality processes.
Ensuring compliance to regulations.
Search and filtering of search
Increased efficiency, usability, access to information, visibility to information, extraction of data, increased communications.
Expectations to further develop and increase efficiencies of other processes and areas of the business.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a great system, when you understand how it works and you spend the time to develop the features ahead of implementing the system. If you set it up right from the beginning, then you will spend time creating more usage within the system than in trying to correct issues and reconfiguration of attributes and processes.
Don't try to implement everything all at once, take a phased approach so that users have a chance to utilize the system. You will find that subsequent phases will need slight adjustment as users become more familiar with the functionality and what it can really do for them.
If you can get someone in that has worked with the system before, then you will find that the development of the system and associated processes will go much smoother as they understand how the system will / can work under different circumstances and how it can be aligned to work with your business.
The support that Arena provides, is great, but each business must really understand how the system works and how their business functions to reap the benefits of the functionality.
If you need to convince the business the value of using an electronic system or a system in the cloud, then this is the system to define that with. ROI is months, not years.

What do you dislike about the product?
- Revision Management - The fact that an Item new revision get automatically pushed on current BOMs (and not in the working revision)
- Integration with ERP - Integration sometimes fails and data does not get pushed to our ERP system all the time

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Interface pretty easy to use.
effective PLM system
What do you like best about the product?
clear and legible organization tools. Easy for anyone to learn, as long as they understand the functions
What do you dislike about the product?
inability to go back sometimes, slow processing at times
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easier product implementation, and revisions to existing assemblies
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Suggestions built in for certain commands
Good Experience. Simple easy usage.
What do you like best about the product?
The amount of data and parts accessible with multiple levels of check points. The custom search functions and parameters are useful tools when searching for specific "traits" of parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface 1st and second the loading times. The first can be addressed with UX designers and Graphic designers to make the program more user friendly and look better in general. The loading times are terrible having to click drop downs to see files that then need to reload a page with a 30s -1min delay. Thumbnails on drops downs would be useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inventory management and organizationof in house stock for multiple levels of the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
none
Arena is BOM and part management simplified
What do you like best about the product?
I have used a few PLM software, and find Arena to be very friendly to use. BOM management, ECOS, file management are all very easy to use and easy to set up in a way that best meets your specific needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, it can be a little slow. And some features of adjusting BOMs can be clunky. But once you are used to the proper order of operations, it is very straightforward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product revision management. We used to always have a poor way of keeping track of updated parts etc. and would end up making mistakes and losing the history of why something was updated. With proper ECO management in Arena, it is easy to keep track.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a very effective tool for maintaining BOMs, parts, ECOS. It has a very wide scope of possibilities and allows you to adapt it to your needs.
Overall, well-built system that meets all of our industry's needs
What do you like best about the product?
Especially with the update, the slick new design makes the usage experience much more satisfying. Arena has a lots of efficiency tricks. I can add multiple items to a BOM at the same time, or add an item to multiple BOMs at the same time. By sending communications directly from Arena, I can point the administrator directly to a change request with a direct link.
What do you dislike about the product?
The file editions and item editions are a bit confusing to distinguish. I personally do not use file editions to track updates to items, so it's unnecessary for me to input edition numbers every time I make an intermittent update to an item. Furthermore, I can't track the past file editions to a single revision of an item. There is also no good way to track multiple submissions of a change request. I have no context on whether something has been updated between the last withdrawal and the new submission of a request if the user doesn't put any comments in the summary or personally communicates the change. The submission is also not tied to automatic routing, and evaluations have to be manually requested.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arena helps us meet FDA design controls easily and keep us accounted for to have an updated, official record of everything rather than having uncontrolled updates to files.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask for help, the support is always there. Stick with the software through the learning curve, and don't stop learning because there are always new tricks and features you might not have known before.
Mostly User Friendly
What do you like best about the product?
What's most helpful about Arena is the ability to search easily, through many categories, for documents. The filters allow for narrow searches allowing me to find what I need quickly. Additionally, the workflows for making changes, creating items, and quality tasks are fairly simply once trained.
What do you dislike about the product?
What is least helpful is about Arena is often the disorganization it sometimes allows. I would Ike if certain aspects of the program were more strict in a sense of only allowing specific inputs and outputs, and requiring connection to all affected aspects of the item. This would streamline things like the BOM or changes to documents referencing other documents. It would also make searching easier if you know there are more specific rules.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arena allows specific employees of the company to only see the necessary aspects of the program, which reduces confusion. Additionally, the fairly simple user interface makes changes go more smoothly, which I believe is helping.
Arena for a Systems Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
Arena PLM is great for doc control and easy tracking of rev histroy
What do you dislike about the product?
This may be nit-picky but I don't like that I can't search for items if i'm currently in a different world like changes or parts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the many benefits is the Reference BOM - change to a referenced document no longer requires update of multiple other documents referencing it
Difficult to find files
What do you like best about the product?
You can save location of files you need on the dashboard
What do you dislike about the product?
Within a project/item it takes long/there is no quick access to the source files
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to update docs easier
Highly versatile and comprehensive solution
