Arena PLM Makes Document Control (and Stressful Deadlines) A Breeze
What do you like best about the product?
Arena PLM is the most straightforward document management system I've used in 10+ years of regulated industry experience. The interfaces are seamless, and multi-level BOM assemblies and part numbers are easily configured. In my role, the least stressful part of product releases is the Arena PLM portion.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much about Arena PLM that I don't like. It's the most streamlined document control system I've used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Arena PLM makes dynamic activities surrounding deadlines and releases less stressful. While I may not get what I need until the eleventh hour from my teams, at least I know the configuration, routing, review, approval and release of QMS records will be a breeze.
Users friendly and cloud based
What do you like best about the product?
Quality process templates can be created per your company's needs and show the status bar.
What do you dislike about the product?
While creating templates it isn't easy to translate a paper-based company's process into Arena template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Limited users on Arena is limited to fully utilizing all the available applications of Arena because of the licences price.
Easy to Navigate
What do you like best about the product?
It is fairly easy to search for things, once you learn how to navigate the platform. The user interface is pretty clear, without too much or too little to be distracting or confusing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes difficult to pull reports. I think the reports feature could be improved to make it easier to download specific reports, or to pull very specific criteria.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A huge part of my job is data extrapolation, so I use arena to review several different facets of the Quality Department. I am able to find all the information that I need, download the reports to Excel, and have all my data at my fingertips within minutes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have someone who is able to teach you how to use it, then once you learn, it's very easy.
It can seem cumbersome to go through all of the approvals and steps.
What do you like best about the product?
It keeps all my records stored well. I can also share those with others in a very secure space. This keeps my QMS compliant with the ISO standards and allows me to operate successfully.
What do you dislike about the product?
All of the checks and steps you have to go through can feel really cumbersome and someone just learning how to do it can be a challenge. I would like to see the functionality be a bit less bulky and more simple.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is resolving the fact that we need secure document control that individuals cannot just go in and change a document without proper approvals and oversight by a control team.

Overall Good System
What do you like best about the product?
The system has a lot of versatility and applications that are already built into Arena, so you don't have to start from scratch on every single process. The Arena staff are also very helpful with any questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a lot of information to digest at one time, and it is not always intuitive where things are stored or how to access them. It's also not intuitive how the processes or templates work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have some internal quality processes that we want to move to Arena templates for record-keeping and better organization intra-department and inter-department.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Provide tutorials for processes already available through Arena
Excellent system. Easy to use and very versatile.
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, and how approvals are set up within the system. I also like the cloud-based setup which allows me to easily work from home, whereas our homegrown system requires me to be at work or use a VPN.
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit of a learning curve, better help and or resources within the page would be great. We also had some issues with integration tools for XPLM and Solidworks that need some help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Were able to better control our documents and revisions, easily set up approvers and automate most of the documentation practices. Our ability to release products and supporting documentation is much faster.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a system to manage your business needs for quality control, this system is by far one of the best.
Very manual process.
What do you like best about the product?
it's reliable. Service is never down. Nothing else really.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very manual. Software should auto-create a Placeholder, and auto-create Change Orders when a new PT or DD is created.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Electronic signatures/approvals
Friendly user platform but...
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is the most attractive thing about Arena. The diagram flow is also very helpful, and reviewing the elements is simple, making it easier for me to explain things to my colleagues.
What do you dislike about the product?
having a desktop app would make the experience even smoother.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Until now I used to review all parts, documents, files, and engineering change orders. I'm the new guy in the company so Arena help me a lot to understand the product we manage
