A stable and open-source solution that has a user-friendly interface and provides seamless integrations

  • February 12, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for workflow processes of different sectors.

What is most valuable?

The workflow builder is valuable. The graphical interface is very beneficial. We can build whatever workflow we need. Currently, we are integrating the solution with our document management system. It acts as a repository for the documents. Inbound and outbound integrations are very easy.

The solution fulfills our implementation needs. The interface is user-friendly compared to Oracle. The solution is well-known in Egypt. Even government sectors are switching to Camunda. There are a lot of materials available. The technical team did a lot of self-study. Now, we can integrate the solution with our document management system and implement the processes we need. I rate the documentation a nine out of ten.

What needs improvement?

The product must provide more videos and training materials.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

All our implementations have 50 to 100 users.

How are customer service and support?

We use the forums when we need support. The product has a big community.

How was the initial setup?

We did not encounter any issues during the installation or while building the workflows. We implement the tool for our customers.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The most attractive feature of the product is that it is open source.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are currently promoting the product to our customers. They are using Oracle BPEL, which is a licensed solution. They need an open-source tool. So, we are suggesting Camunda to them. Camunda is comparable with the licensed products. The competitors might provide more features compared to Camunda, but they are not that valuable.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend using the product. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.

A zero-code and no-code platform with exceptional stability

  • January 22, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used in my company, where we deal with insurance.

In our company, we use Camunda to automate our process to reduce the need for human tasks. In short, my company uses the product to reduce the need for manual work. The tool can help automate processes like insurance claims, onboarding, and other areas that are managed manually. Various processes in our company can be converted to automated ones with the help of Camunda.

What is most valuable?

The best feature related to the product is that it offers users a zero-code or no-code platform, so people can use the product without being developers or knowing Java or other microservices.

What needs improvement?

The support offered by the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.

Though Camunda offers one of the best support services in the market, I know that Camunda Platform 8.0 is still in the development phase. The tool can have more guidelines and best practices that can be made available over the internet to help people who are researching the solution as it is a new product in the market.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Camunda for a year. My company currently uses Camunda Platform 8.0. I am just a user of the product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is an absolutely stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

Camunda is a new product in our company, but once we show the abilities of the tool and showcase it by going live with the solution, our company's entire client base will open up.

There are no admins required to take care of Camunda.

My company plans to use more of the product in the future.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Camunda is the first tool that we have used in our company. I believe that Infosys was using IBM, but they also moved to Camunda recently.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was neither an easy nor a difficult process, though my company did receive support from Camunda, considering that I work in a big company with firewall products in place. There were some hurdles during the setup phase, making it a not-so-smooth process, but my company was able to deploy the product successfully in the environment.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises and on the cloud model.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to some of the major players in the market, like IBM, Camunda is a cheaply priced product, making it one of its major USPs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My company chose Camunda since it has two parts, one of which is Camunda Rule Engine, while the other one is Camunda BPMN. When it comes to Camunda Rule Engine, Camunda passes a set of rules through the tool itself, a process that doesn't happen in the system but happens externally through validation checks called the Camunda DMN Decision Engine. After a certain period, my company realized that Camunda's main feature lies in what Camunda BPMN provides to its users. After getting a demo of Camunda, my company was impressed with the solution, and we decided to try it.

What other advice do I have?

Camunda's website is filled with a lot of knowledgeable stuff, so it is important to get in touch with a person from Camunda. By just going through the website Camunda, it is possible to strengthen your understanding of the fundamentals of the product. Camunda also provides free courses to those who want to learn more about the product.

I rate the overall tool a seven and a half out of ten.

A highly stable solution that has an easy process diagram creation and deployment

  • December 19, 2023
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We process credit card applications using Camunda.

What is most valuable?

Camunda's process diagram creation and deployment is very easy. You can model the business processes very easily in Camunda.

What needs improvement?

The solution's pricing and scalability could be improved. It's very difficult to know how to really scale the solution. It would be nice if information is made available about case studies where people have scaled Camunda to a larger set of requests per second and how they did it. We really struggle to scale up the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Camunda for one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Camunda ten out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have a back-end integration. So, no user logs in to Camunda on a day-to-day basis. One or two developers log in to the solution when there is some issue, or some application gets stuck.

I rate Camunda a five or six out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I posted some things on Camunda's community channel, and I found the community helpful and nice.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Apache Activiti. Apache Activiti does not have much community activity, but Camunda's community support is very nice.

What about the implementation team?

It took around a week to deploy Camunda by one or two people.

What other advice do I have?

Camunda is deployed on the cloud in our organization. I would recommend Camunda for low to medium-scale businesses. I would not recommend the solution to high-scale businesses because of the lack of documentation.

Camunda is the right choice for long-running business processes instead of ones that can be finished in a few seconds or minutes.

Overall, I rate Camunda an eight out of ten.

A stable solution for application workloads with Process BPMN

  • December 11, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for various application workloads, including the workflow for account management applications.

What is most valuable?

Process BPMN is an important feature where you can write your code.

What needs improvement?

The latency of API could be decreased.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Camunda for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution does not have high scalability. It can be useful for complex types of projects.

I rate the solution’s scalability a seven out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is difficult to adapt. It takes two to three days to complete.

What was our ROI?

Camunda has saved around 30-40% of developers’ time, increasing their productivity.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Highly-recommended and flexible solution for tech-savvy developers

  • November 27, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is most valuable?

One valuable feature of the solution is its flexibility. Unlike low-code platforms or those with predefined design patterns, Comunda allows for custom changes, providing the freedom to customize.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the solution for the past six months.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have worked with Pegasystems. Primarily, Pega operates on a case-based licensing model, where each workflow incurs charges. Many customers opt for Camunda for basic workflows and case management to save costs. However, for enterprise-level needs, especially those involving CRM functionalities, Pega is retained. Some organizations have transitioned specific workflows to Camunda while keeping Pega for comprehensive CRM solutions.

What other advice do I have?

Camunda primarily functions as a BPM platform. It requires development work for customization. Users accustomed to a local setup may find it less preferable. At the same time, tech-savvy developers who enjoy extensive customization options may favor the solution due to its flexibility in adapting design models based on their preferences. For such developers, this solution would be a perfect ten.

Robust choice for businesses across various sectors offering flexibility, efficient workflow automation and excellent scalability

  • November 20, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We use it in the banking sector for a specific project. The platform aids in optimizing and automating business processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring seamless workflow management

What is most valuable?

Its flexibility stands out as the most valuable feature. I am content with its courses and the support team.

What needs improvement?

When addressing a complex and extensive process, the domain it belongs to, be it banking, healthcare, or HR, requires widespread access.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with it for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate its stability capabilities ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It offers excellent scalability. I would rate it ten out of ten. Our clientele comprises enterprises, medium-sized businesses, and small organizations.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support from Comodo is accessible exclusively with the enterprise version, and it is highly commendable. They offer two support options, including the provision of an individual technical support manager. Our customers benefit from having personal vendors in support, capable of communicating in their native languages. For instance, if operating in Ukraine, clients can expect excellent service with a personal manager fluent in Ukrainian. I would rate it ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. I would rate it ten out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

When it came to deployment, there were readily available options, along with clear instructions tailored for an open environment. We have it deployed on cloud as well as on-premise. The deployment timeframe varies, measured in hours or days, contingent upon specific customer requirements. Frequently, we initiate development, reproduction, and production environments. However, delays may arise as these environments can differ slightly, necessitating additional setup time.

What was our ROI?

ROI is influenced by the quality and usage. While the pricing structure is crucial, making an error in the planning can lead to substantial expenses. However, based on the feedback from our customers, they express satisfaction with Camunda. They assert that it provides extensive coverage and is more cost-effective compared to other business process systems.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

While the license isn't budget-friendly, careful consideration and calculated planning for a significant number of licenses can make it more cost-effective. The pricing structure hinges on three crucial parameters: process instances, how frequently processes are initiated, and the number of users. These latter two factors exert a considerable influence on the overall cost. However, for those looking to explore it, trying the cloud version is a viable option. The cloud variant starts at $200 per month. I would rate it six out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate it ten out of ten.

Fantastic Process Orchestration Tool

  • November 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Camunda is a fantastic process orchestration tool! The product is capable of managing many different types of workflows from simple to complex and from short lived to long lived processes. The product suite that compliments the Camunda engine including Optimize, Modeler, and Cockpit make up a full product that is necessary to running an enterprise workflow. The Customer Support provided with the enterprise edition also give valuable insight to evolving process orchestration in your business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboarding the necessary roles to facilitating the process orchestrator used to be an issue but the addition of Camunda Academy has solved this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Camunda provides the tools necessary to host our process definitions, host thousands of our active processes, able to quickly move tasks across departments, and make changes to our processes as required.

    Ashish K.

One of the best and top rated Orchestrator Platform in Industry

  • November 05, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Camunda is one of the most used and preferred orchestration tool for complex microservice orchestration and long-running asynchronous process execution. It follows BPMN 2.0 standards and provides different notations to perform a wide range of BPMN operations in our existing process. It's Java friendly and you can easily customize it as per your requirement. We used Camunda Cockpit in order to manage the ongoing process and to perform the remediations. Camunda also introduced Camunda 8 version with the latest and enhanced capabilities like connectors and can be configured as self managed/SaaS tool. Easily it can be integrate with AWS, S3, REST protocol and DB's.
What do you dislike about the product?
After the introduction of Camunda 8.0, its now supports worker implementation and migrating the existing C7 projects to C8 will be little complex initially. Also, a lot of features are coming up in C8 which was readily available in C7. Think, still C8 is catching up with all those feature and the process version upgradation becomes more important. Also, more emphasis has been given on the environment setup, as C8 requires Kubernetes and Dockers for working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were creating an end-to-end orchestration tool using Camunda for our service provisioning system which supports long-lived and closed loop automation workflows. We were able to create workflows with simple API integrations and it really helped us to deliver the processes in production in a short period of time. We were able to manage the in-flight traffic and get most of the insights out of it for business consumption.

What do you like best about the product?
It provides us a consistent approach to business workflows in our custom web applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Understanding when to terminate threads, change/migrate workflows for existing processes, is complex and often requires a lot of trial and error.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It speeds our time to market with soultions.
