Saves Me Money!

  • October 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I run algorithmic trading apps on AWS EC2 instances. I don't need them running on weekends, but I often forget to shut them down in a timely manner. A conversely, spin them back up Sunday night. This tool takes care of both of these.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no problems with the software. I have had no issues to report.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It shuts down and restarts my servers exactly when I need them.

Simplicity for Automation.

  • June 04, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact we can easily use see the difference of old automation and just looking and seeing a mostly if not perfectly balanced cluster between cpu/memory.
What do you dislike about the product?
The largest dislike I have is that the support bundles are very large. For someone with a slow connection it can take a long time to upload the logs. Not really an issue with Turbo, more an issue with me having stone age internet. :) Turbo has said they are working on fixing things to be maybe ability to target specific support logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation is a big problem. Turbo has better balanced both our Storage and our Hosts.

I also use the storage automation for reclaiming arrays. We can easily setup a rule to evacuate luns that are being lifecycled and let Turbo move the data onto the new storage.

Turbonomics Ability To Scale Up And Down On Demand Allows For Maximum Cost Efficiency

  • May 31, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Turbonomic provides insight and recommendations into our Azure cloud configurations designed to allow optimum efficiency and cost. By analyzing the load on demand, the product can sense when more resources are needed as well as when resources are being wasted.
In the first month, we ran this as a POC. It saved us over 5k a month in costs by implementing its recommendations. The product continues to save us money but constantly updating its pricing files from Azure with current promotions and regional costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
More Azure features are needed. They started with AWS and are now ramping up Azure features.
We would like to see more visibility into reserved instances in Azure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its ability to scale up and down on demand allows for maximum cost efficiency. By dynamically analyzing our loads, the product can sense if resources need to be adjusted. It can also tell if another configuration of the same power would be cheaper in another region.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you do a POC first so you can see the benefits this product will bring.

Great product, its almost set and forget

  • May 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I personally like the fact that once you have your rules defined you really don't have to do any thing else with it, its automation handles the majority of your needs on its own. The fact that it isn't threshold based also adds great flexibility as it guarantees the optimal usage across everything available.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only detractor is the lack of custom reporting that is available in the current version. They are supposed to be adding that feature back in in a future version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Over allocation and continual right sizing needs of virtual machines. We have allowed Turbonomic to handle all sizing using its automation so when we have requests we simply tell folks that its handled objectively will size as appropriate. It has cut our workload in this area by 95%
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just put it in and give it a try in read-only mode and see what it recommends. You would be surprised what feedback you get from it within 30 minutes

ParkmyCloud - Great Tool for Public Cloud Consumption Control

  • March 14, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Parkmycloud is a great product to help control costs in the cloud. Setup is relatively easy, and it is light years ahead of anything Microsoft provides natively in Azure. Everyone has servers they do not use consistently, and Parkmycloud will help you reduce costs by resting resources not in use.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have found the reporting capabilities could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using this to park servers that are not used on the weekends. So far we have saved ~$4,000 a month in Azure costs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about your turn on schedule. Do not turn all servers back on at once, stagger them according to a prerequisite schedule.

Why we love Turbonomic

  • February 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Turbonomic is workload automation. Using this we are able to automate rightsizing of production workloads. This works immediately for on-premise workloads and can be scheduled for out of hour for Cloud and disruptive resizes (resize down on-premise for example).
Additionally, the ability to plan workload migrations between on premise locations or to public cloud is extremely useful to ensure the success of migrations and clearly visualise costs associated with that activity.
What do you dislike about the product?
Scheduling of workloads in public cloud requires additional effort over and above that for on premise workloads and could be made simpler.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Initially we reduced physical on-premise infrastructure with our first deployment with produced an ROI within 3 months of deployment. As we matured with the deployment and invested in a public cloud use cases we were able to make significant savings (more than £200,000 per year) on our cloud running costs using the workload resizing capabilities of Turbonomic.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Run a POC in your environment as the tool will show results within 24-48 hours of setup which will most likely provide all the evidence you need of its value.

Turbonomic

  • February 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The wide range of things this product can do. From reporting on the performance of an environment, to automating the migration of VMs, to planning workload migrations, to planning deployments, the list goes on and on!
What do you dislike about the product?
When they upgraded to a new version, they dropped several built-in dashboards. Although you can still login to the old interface and access them, I'd like the dashboards to be available in the new version as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I keep finding new things that I can gather information for. From finding out when I'm going to need to add resources to an environment, to planning a workload migration from one datacenter to another, or even automating the vMotion of VMs to better balance a cluster. Great tool!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best application to let automation control your critical virtual workload.

Turbonomic is my virtual co-worker

  • February 20, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
The lack of late night outage calls now that all of our systems resources are better allocated.
What do you dislike about the product?
I forget it's there and have not spent enough time with the Web UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The 2,000 VM's spread across our forty Cisco UCS servers now uniformly utilize 70% of available resources. Our two-man administration team no longer receive outage calls in the middle of the night. Our SLA's with our customers are now reasonably attained.

What do you like best about the product?
Great resource management and optimazation for larger vsphere environments. Powerful and it can save you buying additional ESX hosts.
What do you dislike about the product?
rather complex and the html interface is not yet in par with the old flash interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
improved stability, performance and better resource management.
It also helped optimizing the usage of our ESX hosts.

TurboNow and vSphere 6.5

  • January 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One stop shop to see VM performance, recommendations and report creations
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve, mostly with the user interfaces. The descriptions don't always match the tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reducing waste is one of the problems we are using Turbonomic for. Other uses include planning and projections. This is a huge asset to us when planning moves, etc.
