Best Backup Software for VMs
What do you like best about the product?
The setup for the software is pretty straighforward, and once it is set up it pretty much just works. We've had very little difficulty getting anything to back up, and restores are a breeze as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The retention settings for backups are not completely intuitive, which makes long term recovery requirements a bit difficult to nail down and maintain
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are backing up our entire virtual architecture with this software and have found that recoveries and even the backups themselves are easier to maintain and execute.
Integration with VMWare works very well
What do you like best about the product?
I was able to hook it up with VMware and most of all there is a free version that allows you to use cmdlets for automation purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing can be expensive but its totally worth it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
using the free version for back up and recovery of my virtual infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
start using the free version and if it meets ur needs, proceed with full ver.
Solid backup platform for virtual workloads
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam has been a stable and useful platform for the small and mid-size company. It provides quality backups with good metrics to support data mining around your data protection.
What do you dislike about the product?
No physical backup capability at this point in time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a lower cost more stable platform from what we were using previously. The reduction of cost has helped to increase margins and the stability has made it so that we can provide better service internally.
Original reviewer, purchaser, implementer.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to implement. Software backup and restore works. Restoring critical files does not become a resume generating event.
What do you dislike about the product?
Instructions to create a virtual lab were complicated and unclear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a backup of virtual servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to read and implement ALL the software offers, It does more than just backup and restore.
Effective, easy-to-use backup software
What do you like best about the product?
-VM backup. It runs very stable. Only have to configure once, then leave it alone. Only get back to it when there is more VM to backup, just cloning from existing job, modify schedule, VMs then go
- In most of the cases, the backup jobs can resist against the failures caused by external factors, such as network congestion, system is busy in use. The failed jobs will be automatically retry

What do you dislike about the product?
- The weakness of file backup
- The lack of other virtual environment backup than vmware and hyper-v, e.g virtualbox
- The notification method is not really flexible and sometime is treated as spam by some email systems

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Backup a bunch of project data, majority of them is virtual machines. VEEAM gave me worry-free backup solution. Just set it and forget it
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is definitely a good backup solution for virtual infrastructure environment especially VMWare & Hyper-V
Quality Backups with More Options and Less Hassle
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is extremely easy to use, and introduces some features that were new to our organization. Recovery is simple and allows for single file extraction. We've also had great experiences with customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
We still experience a few file failures using Veeam. The upside is that running the backup again is fast and easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We replaced Symantec due to recent failures and a lack of manufacturer support. Veeam was an obvious choice when comparing features. The backups are quicker, and recovery is much easier and accessible. The ability to easily pull individual files from the backups has also proven useful on occasion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Veeam is a very simple, yet powerful solution to server backups. It's speed and cloud backup make it the best solution out there currently.
