Reliable and secure backup solutions, offering a well-packaged and reasonably priced service with a significant positive return on investment
What is our primary use case?
Our common use case is to offer backup solutions and disaster recovery services to customers.
How has it helped my organization?
A key benefit is the constant security of data. It enables us to assure customers that their data is consistently accessible, even in the face of server issues or potential disruptions.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable aspect is its reliability in recovering any replaceable data in the event of server issues in a production environment. It proves to be a dependable solution for ensuring business continuity in case of a disaster occurring at the current production site.
What needs improvement?
It would be beneficial if it could expand its coverage to support Frostbox and provide greater flexibility for service providers to recommend backup solutions based on customer preferences in prospective environments.

What about the implementation team?
In the initial stages of deployment, it's essential to understand the customer's backup infrastructure needs. VEEAM for backups your way!
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility in fitting the software to an environment. Lots of ability to customize jobs to the specifics of the environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The flexibility also makes it feel like it takes longer to setup and ensure that everything is configured properly. Some customers might want a solution that covers you more quickly "out of the box".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Went from an aging backup product to Veeam. Veeam integrates with HPE storage and provides a mechism for backing up our VMware environment.
Useful for workstation and infrastructure backups
What do you like best about the product?
It integrates well with vCenter and allows for full VM replication
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few Linux OS's that have an outdated client
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replicating large VM's to a remote backup site.
Veam Backup and Restore
What do you like best about the product?
The ease and simplicity of Veam is much better than other software we have used.
What do you dislike about the product?
The configuration could be simpler. Also some of the plugin updates are lacking functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows a fast restore of our Virtual environment. Either a whole VM or just file level.
Improved our backups as a small company
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to setup and while veeam is expensive, backing up to an S3 container ended up making it cheaper than our previous solution. Customer support was great, even when we were trailing the software they treated us as if we owned it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's complicated (but only because it can do so much) and there's a sticker shock for a small business upfront.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backing up our entire HyperV server. Before we were only making a copy of our file share and sending it to a remote server via ftp.
Veeam Data Platform
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Veeam for many years and we have never had an issue. The installation and integratikon with our systems was easy. The recovery process is easy. For us, it is truly a set it and forget it solution. We use it for onsite VMs and local file & App data. We run multiple sessions - some hourly, some daily, and some archival monthly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not have any complaints with Veeam.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam provides a good mechanism for us to back up local VM's, files, and app data. It integrates with a third party program to send our data offsite backup location.
Great tool for backup and DR
What do you like best about the product?
The compression and speed of backups with Veeam are unmatched in my experience. I've used multiple other backup products and have constantly been let down due to failures. Veeam has been very easy to implement and connect to backup environments. The documentation is very clear about port usage for secure environments so I was able to connect on the first try after a firewall config. I have used Veeam for over a decade and NEVER had a failure with restores or corruption of failed data. I've only needed support a few times and every time it's always a quick response and simple instructions to resolve. I also use the replication for a DR scenario and when testing it powers on the replica, re-IPs it and configures everything with a single click!
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get pricey but you do get what you pay for. The licensing is more complicated than it needs to be in my opinion. It may be because i'm grandfathered into the old way of licensing and they're trying to convert me to the new way but the new way is much more expensive for what I'm using it for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company implemented Veritas NetBackup and it does not consistently backup our domain controllers to my liking and thus I don't trust it. I use Veeam for my DCs and have always had consistent, reliable backups.
I also have a remote DR site that Veeam replicates VMs to.
Veeam Gets the Job Done - but upgrades could leave you in the lurch.
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is very easy to use. Point it at your virtual data-center, configure a few items and you are backing up your entire enviroment. They have a wide range of supported enviroments, some of which you may use. Once you have your protection plans built it is fire and forget.
What do you dislike about the product?
When there are issues Veeam support can sometimes not be the best at finding the root cause. Upgrades can leave you out in the cold - especially when they depricate a feature you may use in your enviroment or when they change back-end arcitecture and do not have an easy path the change the method. They provide FAQs related to this; however this can make you feel very uncomfortable moving forward with it. And when it comes to a feature you may rely on, such as Enterprise Manger, it does not support a mixed enviroment. Lastly, licenseing is really only 3 tiers, Base, Premium, and Premium Plus. All the features you need are spread across all the leves and you may need only 1 in Premium Plus, but need to pay for the rest.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam is addressing the backup and recovery needs of out VmWare enviroment. When our systems were small, it was easy. It helps move machines from one place to another, quickly and easily.
