Well developed LMS
What do you like best about the product?
they do seem to truly care about their customer's comfort with the system
What do you dislike about the product?
Requests for certain technology, updates, etc. are not a priority
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
gradebook is much better with this system when compared with other LMSs, student help is more readily available
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great LMS, highly recommend!
Pretty good LMS
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to navigate and explain to others, lots of functionality in tools and integration. The grading and feedback system is excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some restrictions on different roles and permissions, inability to download quizzes has been an issue for quite some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to transition from in person to online learning with minimal interruption has been a benefit during the pandemic.
PRognrud D2L Review
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface, great support, responsive interface, data, updates and enhancements driven by customer input.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very little. So far, I have been happy with using and managing our Brightspace environment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use D2L Brightspace for our LMS to deliver in-person and online content to our students. We also use it for campus communities to improve communication.
Collaboration Central
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to easily integrate components.
What do you dislike about the product?
We need a better setup between D2L and our program reporting ability for various stakeholders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brightspace provides an LMS to collaborate together.
Change for an enhanced user experience
What do you like best about the product?
Student performance tools for both staff and students
What do you dislike about the product?
My lack of knowledge to use PowerBI for enhanced analytic exposure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are defining learning, teaching, and assessment standards in the university. The templates and structure ensure that all teaching components are aviaable
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Brightspace is innovative and supports the learning and teaching experience. An enhanced user experience is created with easy integration of other third-party software. Performance management (staff and students) creates an opportunity to identify Students@Risk as part of the management strategy.
Advancing the learning experience with D2L partnership.
What do you like best about the product?
Partnerships are key. Our customer success manager is always quick to respond and partner on faculty development activities. With Brightspace, I can design learning experiences with an eye to UDL and visual learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning content can be limited to linear approach to learning. I look forward to more networked, non-linear design options. I like the changes in the Assignments tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My biggest challenge is driving sustained student engagement in fully online courses. Working with the D2L and Bongo teams have been helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You've used one, you've used them all. Customer support and collaboration makes all the difference. Our D2L reps have earned A+ grades.
Works, But lacks the intuitive features that other LMS provide.
What do you like best about the product?
It has a large user base. Which is helpful when needing to troubleshoot or find information regarding behaviors of recent updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not provide an intuitive or beginner-friendly interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have created shells outside of classroom use: training repositories learning communities. The benefit is providing these needed training's and groups to folks across disciplines or even outside of our institution.
Brightspace trainer and user
What do you like best about the product?
the responsive design, how user-friendly it is for students, how easy it is to grade and create assignments, content, customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
gradebook is rich, but so complicated! first thing we train faculty on and it's intimidating. An OPTION to simplify for those who don't need the depth?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We set up an asynchronous course to teach remote pedagogy and used ALL the Bsp tools. Double benefit--faculty learning pedagogy and Bsp. They can now teach remotely more effectively, so better student learning.
Excellent Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
D2L Brightspace has excellent customer service. The employees work well together to get the answers quickly back to clients. We have dedicated support contacts who assist as needed. D2L Brightspace is easy for faculty to learn and use compared to other systems I've used. While they make changes to the platform, they are often minor and an easy transition for faculty to learn. When a significant change is coming, information and training are provided ahead and admins have the opportunity to select a good time to make the changes available to faculty. Some system changes are guided by the users which is helpful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
With the new visual editor released in 2021, the HTML code button is more hidden which doesn't impact most faculty but is an extra step for instructional designers. There are some other minor quirks like any other tech system but most are minor and manageable. D2L Brightspace does offer consulting for various integrations which usually are easy on the D2L side (usually costs extra). However, on the other software side, there can be some challenges finding consultants familiar with D2L Brightspace to help with the integration. Generally speaking, consultants/tech support staff are needed for both systems so those costs need factoring into any project plans and service upgrades.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My current institution recently partnered with D2L Brightspace DOMO Analytics consulting. We had a great experience working with very knowledgeable staff help to build reports. The new reports will help with monitoring incoming network traffic, campus training initatives and accreditation reports. We will be able to assess and review aspects of our teaching and learning strategies as well as contribute to campus network safety monitoring. These new reports put valuable data information at our fingertips each term and export to Excel easily. We also have the majority of our students taking online courses regularly through D2L Brightspace.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend getting a demo of the D2L Brightspace products and talk to the knowledgeable staff. There are some great features worth seeing for yourself.
Educational Platform: one in all
What do you like best about the product?
Great educational platform with lots of options that fit most of the needs. Very easy to operate and has the ability to integrate external software. Love the flexibility of use. You can create your own page, upload slides, lectures, etc. Create surveys, assignments, exams, quizzes, etc. Many features that you can think of.
What do you dislike about the product?
Designing a web page is not easy as it looks. Also, I do not like the fonts and font size options. I mean you can not the correct content is in which font and what is the size.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teaching, sharing documents, taking quizzes, exams, assigning assignments, collecting assignments, email, announcements, and so on. My teaching mostly relies on this platform. More importantly, my students love this platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great platform for educational need.
