D2L has been great to work with
What do you like best about the product?
D2L continues to update the LMS consistently implementing new features based on customer feedback. The LMS provides a lot of flexibility and the permissions system allows us to manage roles in a way that's not often seen.
What do you dislike about the product?
Early on we had some issues where products were removed before the replacement was fully developed. This was a big pain point when reports we used consistently were removed. The reports have been fixed since and we haven't seen this same issue with recent feature enhancements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L is the primary way our instructors communicate with students online. Course content and links are distributed through the system and assessments are completed in D2L. Data sets allow us to pull metrics and link to our other systems for better reporting.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's been a great LMS. Get involved in the community and use the PIE item system.
A good experience
What do you like best about the product?
support, interaction with the support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unnecessary tools and system limitations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
solutions in the area of education.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you wish to implement an education system, you can consider D2L as a partner in this construction.
Highly recommend as I consider it a great platform, stable and full of features.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the practicality of the platform, working with already offered Course models. And with a wide range of available integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it a bit difficult to configure certain parameters through configuration variables.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L Brightspace is supporting us in serving the entire Unimed system in the corporate sphere, offering the system quality learning.
very intuitive and easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
system support is the big difference. Whenever I had doubts I was able to solve them in a short time. That was the best of the platform
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform has incredible tools, but as there are many, there are times when it is difficult to use them all when the work team is small. A way to simplify this would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
preparatory courses
The brightspace is excellent!
What do you like best about the product?
The possibility of customizing the platform layout, the many integration possibilities, the intelligent agents, the html editor...
What do you dislike about the product?
the forum is very difficult to use and generates a lot of clicks. It doesn't have a wiki or voting tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The platform is used by all students of the institution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
go forward!
Complete and reliable platform
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very comprehensive, featuring many functions that adapt to the institution's reality through configurations and connections to other tools. The platform is constantly being updated for compliance with new browsers, and the hosting is very stable, with the system's uptime being remarkable.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have difficulties in giving the student who participates in a course with many subjects the feeling of the course as a whole. The integrations for loading students and classes are a bit complex to link to an external system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have students from online or in-person courses, synchronous or asynchronous... the platform adapts very well to what the institution needs to deliver. We can also extract data for our own reports and we do not have performance or availability issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend caution in terms of integration. It is generally possible to launch the solution very quickly, but when it comes to integration with the institution's legacy systems, be very conservative in terms of time and resources to create the integration, it is more complicated than it seems. In any case, once it is working, it goes very well. The platform is also very extensible, I recommend having a JavaScript programmer accessible once there is maturity in the use of the platform, to be able to take even more advantage of this customization capability.
Availability and support for customers in a very efficient manner by the D2L Brazil team.
What do you like best about the product?
Certainly with the support provided by the team, because I am a person who is always seeking improvements and therefore I end up having some questions, and with the support provided I can achieve the best within the reality of my company. They are very attentive, even if I don't have questions, they reach out to check if everything is in order. They are always looking to help clients, scheduling meetings to present the system's new features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because the system contains many functions, I can't use the entire system very effectively, as my team is not very large. However, in this case, I believe it's not a problem with the system; it's more on my part, wanting to always do my best and ending up not being able to utilize all the tools offered by the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A preparatory school for the most well-known university entrance exam in Brazil, the ENEM, and now with the new launch of the preparatory course from Unit, a private college in the northeast, and D2L is doing this very well. One fact that I find very important is the connection that can be established with Unit thanks to D2L and its team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a business partner with wide availability and an efficient support team, I highly recommend D2L. It is a very extensive system with configurations and elements, and I am able to provide all the support to students through the D2L platform. I believe that for this purpose of virtual teaching, it is the best.
Excellent Customer Support
What do you like best about the product?
We have felt very supported by D2L with the move to Brightspace. We met regularly with support personnel during our transition to Brightspace and have had regular check-in meetings ever since.
I like that D2L is continuously improving Brightspace. Each month our system has continuous delivery updates that do not require downtime.
Our users find Brightspace easy to use. Brightspace’s responsive design allows users to easily access their courses on a computer or a mobile device.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that our faculty were using in our previous LMS that are not available in Brightspace. However, we have submitted suggestions for improvements to the Product Idea Exchange in the Brightspace Community. So, there is hope that someday these features will be implemented in Brightspace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In addition to using Brightspace for online learning, Brightspace is beneficial for instructional continuity. Our in-person classes need to be able to shift to remote if the need arises. Brightspace allows for this shift to happen. Our faculty can create well-designed and engaging courses for in-person, online, hybrid, and remote learning.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk to other users of Brightspace to get first-hand information about how the LMS is working or not working for them. A great place to start is by visiting the Brightspace Community. There you can find out what users of Brightspace are saying about the LMS.
A Great Improvement over Other LMSes
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to create content pages that are functional as learning tools means I can create engaging and well-organized content for my students. They don't need to get lost looking for information or links. The system makes it very easy to create attractive and adaptive course content. My students routinely comment on how effectively organized my courses are in Brightspace. They talk about feeling like appreciated because the course is something attractive, rather than just a collection of blue links. Brightspace's design and interface make this possible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it is better than other systems, there is still a good deal of "clickiness" throughout Brightspace, meaning in order to accomplish a specific action, you need to click more than once. Some of this has been addressed through the redesign of the Assignment and Quiz creation tools; however, the issue persists. For example, when grading submitted assignments. At a minimum, five clicks to process a single submission, assuming you aren't leaving any comments or using a multidimensional rubric.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to create classes that can function just as well when we meet in person or when we meet online or even when students need to work through the course materials on their own. We have had multiple disruptions just in the past few months that have required faculty to quickly pivot from in-person instruction to remote instruction. Brightspace has allowed me to develop my classes in a way that requires no changes when making this pivot.
User Friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The layout of D2L is straightforward to navigate. It is user-friendly and relatively self-explanatory. It is easy to find information and upload documents, attachments, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were an option to edit Discussion posts on the student end. I believe it may be possible to do so, but perhaps it has been disabled by the instructor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
D2L makes it easier than ever to take classes online without feeling like there is a disconnect between students and instructors. It's an immersive environment that does a good job of replicating the experience of an on-ground course.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend D2L Brightspace. It is easy to use and helps to give online students an authentic on-ground class experience.
