Simplified Avatar Creation, Needs Better Moderation
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate how easy Synthesia makes it to create a true-to-life avatar. The feature of being able to input various types of text and having those expressions translated by the avatar is incredibly valuable. Once I got the hang of it, I could give my avatars the full range of expressions, making them very lifelike. This ease of creating realistic avatars not only saves time by eliminating the need for studio shoots or memorizing lines but also allows me to focus on scripting the avatar, which is a huge timesaver. The initial setup with Synthesia was straightforward, making the experience smooth right from the start.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Synthesia's algorithm for monitoring content overly aggressive, which is frustrating. Although I understand the need to prevent deep fakes and misinformation, the moderation often feels unjustified. When I challenge their decisions, they don't explain the reasons for rejecting my content. This has resulted in some of my videos—none of which violated the terms of service—not being approved for creation, which is very frustrating. Additionally, I would like more control over avatar expressions. The current setup overly focuses on emphasizing text rather than allowing directorial control over animations. I'd appreciate the ability to add cues like 'smile' or 'look serious' or 'blink' to enhance realism.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Synthesia to save time compared to traditional video shoots and scripting. It allows me to easily type what I want to say, creating lifelike avatars and videos without the need for a studio.

What do you like best about the product?
You can create a project using AI, which makes the process straightforward. The platform offers clear communication and is easy to learn. I also appreciate that it is constantly improving and actively listens to user feedback.

The main issue I have is with the limitations that come with the base subscription.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Synthesia is so easy to use and makes creating training content straightforward. It has templates that allow me to simply insert my scripts and utilize high-quality images without having to search for them myself. One of the standout features for me is the AI avatar that reads the scripts, eliminating the need for me to record my voice or appear on camera when creating training materials. Everything necessary to build our internal HR digital library is included in the package. I also appreciate how everything I create shows up on the home screen when I log in, which makes it incredibly convenient to see all my work without having to search through tabs or different spaces. Moreover, the initial setup was super easy and hassle-free, which was a huge plus. These aspects have greatly simplified the video creation process for our HR department and made the transition from using Everfi and Canva to Synthesia a seamless one.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it challenging to browse background videos by their length. Currently, there is no option to sort videos by time, which creates difficulty in finding a video long enough to match the voiceover length. This forces me to scroll through all the available videos until I find one that fits my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Synthesia solves the need for purchasing educational videos, allowing me to create tailored HR training videos easily with AI avatars, templates, and high-quality images.
Mixed Experience with AI Capabilities and Censorship in Synthesia
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the ability of Synthesia to operate without the need for hiring real humans, which is a significant advantage in terms of cost-saving and efficiency. This feature stands out as it potentially reduces dependency on live actors or voiceovers, streamlining video generation processes and making it more accessible to create content at scale.
What do you dislike about the product?
Synthesia has an excessive and extreme censorship process that results in a long manual review line, which is unlike how other AI tools operate. Additionally, the AI capabilities in Synthesia are not the best, requiring me to use it alongside other AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT.

I use Synthesia to reduce the need for hiring humans, which is beneficial.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Synthesia significantly enhances our video production capabilities, allowing us to create educational videos efficiently. The ease of use is remarkable, making it accessible for trainers with limited video creation experience to produce content that previously required hiring a cameraman and editor. Moreover, the quality of the output is impressive, meeting our professional standards. The initial setup of Synthesia proved to be fantastic, contributing to a smooth integration into our workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think the advertised 360 minutes on the professional license are an honest estimate. We were able to generate at most 100 minutes counting various edits and maybe 40 minutes of final footage.

The integration of GenAI, the ability to rewrite and rework the script quickly based on feedback, ability to produce professional quality content, the professional voices and appearance of avatars. Democratisation of content creation, given that it makes it accessible to someone who has no video editing creation skills!
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficulty of creating own avatar - it was unnatural; selfie avatar would zoom in and out; no easy way of pasting script and getting the content generated. Quite the steep learning curve.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use from the beginning. You start easily making simple videos and then carry on making more detailed and even more professional files. I found it very easy to implement the videos into our social media and general workflow. Synthesia has so many features, from simple and easy to more technical for those that require it. It is superb for training purposes.

There is little to dislike, sometimes I need to change wording a little to make sure the avatar I'm using sounds good.

Quick video creation with beginner challenges
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Synthesia for about six weeks, mainly for creating small videos for our training program. I found Synthesia through a Google search as I was looking for a simple tool to create small promotional clips. I was quickly impressed during testing, and the wide range of avatars and the ease of use convinced me. I particularly appreciate the variety of provided templates, as I am not a media designer and they help me with the arrangement and color variation of the videos. The ability to modify the templates and control the avatar's gestures, such as raising eyebrows or nodding and shaking the head, contributes to the improvement of the videos. Being able to take on the role of director, deciding when the voice becomes loud or soft, I find very useful. Additionally, Synthesia offers a professional and unique result that is excellent for advertising on social media platforms like Instagram. The option to work with the basic tool and later upgrade to a larger package with custom voices and avatars is also appealing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it challenging that not every avatar is equally well synchronized when I change something in the template. The problem is known, and so far it only works well with one avatar that I am working with. This limitation in synchronization with other avatars is disappointing and should definitely be improved. Additionally, the interface was not familiar at first, which made the setup somewhat difficult. There is a learning curve in understanding the video formats and adapting them to different channels. It is problematic to create a video and later find out that it is not suitable for the respective channel, which can lead to visual inconsistencies.

Synthesia allows me to easily create videos without prior knowledge in the video field, ideal for promotional clips. The pre-made templates and avatars facilitate the production of creative and professional content.
