What do you like best about the product?
This product is incredibly easy to use and offers significant value to all types of users.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, I haven't come across anything noteworthy that stands out to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The efficiency of creating visuals directly, as opposed to the extra step of exporting data from a system into Excel or another platform, stands out to me. This streamlined process saves time and effort compared to managing data transfers before visualizing information.

Brings all data processes under one platform and simplifies collaboration across teams

  • October 10, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Domo mostly for ETL purposes and dashboarding purposes. Data engineering, data analytics, data science, everything related to data. It's an integrated business intelligence tool. You can connect your data from various sources, transform them into the tool, display it on the dashboard to get meaningful insights.

Effectively, we have done some projects for different customers on the platform and the effectiveness is in the sense of automation of different kinds of reports that the customers want to see. Frequently updating data sources and the data should be updated on a frequent basis. It can be on a daily basis, hourly basis, the data can be refreshed and accessed by the teams in the sense that they want to use it for their business processes. They want to have the latest insights, KPIs delivered to them.

Decision making, for example, there can be some warehouse data that needs to be updated and some decisions need to be taken based on what kind of stock replenishment a particular customer wants to do in their warehouse. The decisions can be taken by looking at the refreshed data, the calculations that are done. What is the expected forecast of the stock that might need to be stocked up inside the platform, in the warehouse. This was one of the use cases. Related to this, there can be multiple other things which can be made use of. A customer can look at a particular KPI and make a business decision which can benefit their company in terms of reducing costs and maximizing profits.

Domo analyzer has multiple charts. There are hundreds of charts we can choose from to display our data. It depends on what the customer wants to see and how the interpretation of the KPI needs to be made.

We can create our own automotive agents inside the platform as well. AI agents for automating some tasks. We can make use of that.

It's pretty much useful in cases where we want to forecast a time series kind of data where the future forecast depends on some time value. The capabilities of Domo to predict for future forecast is pretty good and we can make use of it.

Mobile accessibility allows us to give different alerts and notifications to the end users about changes happening in their data, if there are any threshold values that are changing and need the attention of the end user. We can alert them on their mobile phones. They can also view the dashboards or the reports that we have created on their mobile apps.

What is most valuable?

The one thing that stands out in case of Domo is that you have everything under the same tool. You don't have to log in into any particular cloud services to have access to that platform. It's just a web-hosted platform. Everything related to data engineering, data science, ETL, everything comes under the same umbrella. You can do it on the same platform. We have different connectors to connect with different data sources, and these connectors are pretty much available for each and every data source in the industry.

It's pretty much understandable for any non-technical user to make use of the dashboards that are prepared. As the end goal of most of the end goals or end products of any use case in Domo leads to creation of any report or a dashboard that can be understood by any non-business, non-technical person.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes the tool tends to be a little laggy, but it depends on what kind of volume of data that we are working in. If it's large, then it can be a little bit laggy in the sense it can take a little time to load and do some transformations on the data.

I don't think Domo is lacking any capability as far as the industry trends or requirements are concerned. But as we move towards the adoption of AI and LLMs, I think creation of LLMs and vector embedding, these sorts of stuff can be included inside the platform. I'm sure it has already been implemented as I speak of it. But that's what is something that I haven't noticed till now.

In terms of pricing, it depends on what kind of model you're going for. There are two kinds of pricing systems. One is credit-based and one is consumption-based. If the Domo instance is on credit-based, we have to be careful about the transformations and the number of rows that we are working for. In terms of cost comparison to other BI platforms or data engineering analytics or data science platforms, it comes on a little costlier side. But given the kind of functionalities that it offers under one umbrella, it is pretty much worth it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Domo for around two and a half years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Domo can be a little costlier if the data volume is high as compared to other Azure or GCP solutions. It can come on a little costlier side, but given the kind of advantages that Domo offers, it's really worth it. Everything comes under the same umbrella and it's pretty user-friendly. A non-technical person, completely business person would be able to understand the technicalities of it pretty easily.

How are customer service and support?

I have raised a few tickets in the tech support and the tech support is pretty brilliant when it comes to solving technical problems. The problems are taken care of in a very prompt manner. They are solved pretty decently as far as the complexity is concerned. No matter how complex the problem is, it can be taken care of by the support team. The support team is pretty brilliant.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have worked on some platforms ranging from Databricks. I have worked with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, it's a data engineering tool that we can make use of. I have worked with ClickHouse as well. I'm a certified ClickHouse developer, so we make use of that.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of the setup, you just need to have a login ID and password. Or there can be a single SSO sign-on process. It's pretty easy. Setup from a technical perspective, we have to pull data from different sources and make changes on it, but it is not something that a non-technical person needs to look at. It can be handled by some data engineers or data analysts.

What was our ROI?

I haven't personally looked at the ROI point of view as I am a technical user of it. I do technical stuff. I analyze data, transform it, do data engineering stuff. In terms of ROI, the company that I'm working for, the business users or the business head takes care of it, so I won't be able to answer that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Domo is a completely integrated tool. We don't have to have any access to a particular cloud to log into their services. They have their own instances that are allocated to different clients. We can make use of it directly. That is one advantage that I can think of. Apart from that, in terms of functionalities, it is pretty much the same that is available in each and every tool.

What other advice do I have?

If you want everything inside one hood, you don't have to think about a lot of services as far as cloud is concerned. You don't have to think about the storage, you don't have to think about buying different cloud services, then you should go for Domo as everything comes under the same umbrella. You just have to think about the cost part.

I would rate Domo 9.5 out of 10.

Training and support have been necessary while transitioning from other tools

  • October 08, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My job is to build dashboards from scratch to end, from data integration and data modeling, using Magic ETL for data transformations, and creating cards by using data analyzer, and building cards using multiple cards such as charts, line charts, multi-line charts, and bar charts. My job combines everything from scratch to end for implementing securities such as row-level securities, PDP (Personalized Data Permissions), and giving access to end users, managers, or stakeholders. This is the end-to-end process which I have done for my clients.

I have worked on multiple BI tools, including Domo, Power BI, and Smartsheet. When it comes to Domo, we have one platform for data integration as well as for data modeling, transformations, and creating visualizations such as charts, graphs, and cards, which is beneficial because in Power BI we have multiple modules for these functions. Inside Domo, we don't have too many modules for creating visualizations, which I have noticed while using it. When it comes to sharing reports or dashboards, with Domo, we can customize dashboards as per the requirement and share them with other stakeholders.

What is most valuable?

These are the advantages because it saves our time. In Power BI, if we want to build a dashboard, we have to go to another site, log in, and create the dashboard. In Domo itself, we can build the dashboard, and if someone wants to change something on the dashboard, they can simply log into Domo, make changes, and pass the information to the required person. In Power BI, it takes more time because we need to log in, change information on the report, and share it again.

I have mostly used data table, bar chart, and line chart features, as these are the ones I have used in most cases.

When using a data table, if I want to visualize or get more data onto the dashboard with a large number of columns, using a bar chart or line chart can make the dashboard look clumsy. I have used a data table because it gives the complete information of required columns, such as sales or expenses.

What needs improvement?

To optimize the report or dashboard, I have used methods to limit the cards and data sets. If we have unwanted data in our data set as raw data, we need to cleanse and structure it first. I have limited the data as per the requirement because having excessive data in Domo will increase loading time and occupy large amounts of space. By limiting the data and cards on the dashboard, it optimizes the dashboard and improves performance.

Since I haven't used AI in Domo while using it, I need to improve my skills in AI and integrate AI knowledge into Domo, which I think will save time and give accurate data.

AI as a feature can be improved or enhanced in Domo.

For how long have I used the solution?

Currently I'm not working with Domo, but I have two years of experience using it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have faced some challenges because previously I was working on Power BI. When I switched companies and started using Domo, transforming knowledge from Power BI to Domo came with difficulties. I overcame these hurdles and gained knowledge through my colleagues, Domo University, and Domo Palooza by learning from articles.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation part involves logging in with credentials into Domo.

What about the implementation team?

For other organizations, they have to get trained. If someone is working on another tool, they need to learn how Domo works, what Magic ETL is, how to drag the data onto the integration part, and learn about the data sources. Training is essential because without it, they might face issues that could lead to escalations. Getting training and support from colleagues is important to gain experience on Domo.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The admin team and manager take care of licensing, but I do not have any information about the prices of the license.

What other advice do I have?

I have used Domo University and Domo Palooza for learning. I don't have access to the mobile version as only managers have access. I am currently working as a Power BI developer with Aregano Technologies. I have four years of experience in BI and would categorize myself as a freelancer or consultant. My review rating for Domo is 9 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
