Pioneer in Cloud Storage still going strong

  • July 24, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox has been around for quite a while now and it has always been an amazing cloud storage service. I personally haven't used dropbox as much in the earlier years but the usage has increased substantially as I realized how secure and efficient it was compared to other cloud storage services available to me. The feature to send files securely without having to worry about the file sizes has been a key feature that I have personally used a lot. The mobile app is similarly efficient and gives easy access to all the features required. I would suggest this as the best cloud storage solution for someone who collaborates and shares documents on a regular basis, especially large project files like videos or 3D models.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of an office suite is the major thing that is lacking for dropbox, which is not a major drawback but is an important aspect to consider if you are looking to integrate the whole workflow through dropbox. The office suite seems like the only edge Google Drive has over Dropbox.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of transferring files or large size has been a major use of my dropbox. Collaboration has also been a key use of Dropbox as its easy-to-use and access interface has made collaboration through the cloud a pleasant experience rather than a very irritating one.

Dropbox is best designed for data storage

  • July 23, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The one thing I appreciate most about Dropbox certainly is the simplicity of access that you have when working with it. I really like that I'm able to use either the site or the application in order to save as well as gain access to my data. There are several occasions which I have realized it useful to be able to gain access to the files which I got stored on my pc through my cell phone.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I don't like most regarding Dropbox will be the restriction of 2 GB of storage space within the trial edition. We need to upgrade the dropbox plan to get more space
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The issue I'm resolving with Dropbox is being in a position to gain access to my data files from any place at work. Whenever I have to go to a different pc or workplace, I'm able to save my data files to Dropbox and gain access to these in different places. This really is excellent simply because I no more need to carry around any kind of date in physical form
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dropbox is my suggested cloud-based application to save your important data to gain access to those from any other location.

reliable and fast, but limited automation/controllability limits flexibility

What do you like best about the product?
Sync seems very reliable and is able to take full advantage of available bandwidth, at least on my connection (about 20Mb/s up). This is much better than other services I've tried. The speed of analyzing files to determine what needs to be uploaded is very good, as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
On Windows, there is basically no control possible from the command line. You can't start or stop the service in a programmatic way -- you need to hard kill the processes and then restart them, because there is no service interface. You can't change things like bandwidth allocations without using the GUI. The Dropbox folder also needs to be on an NTFS volume (e.g., can't use a ReFS volume) and only 1 folder can be selected, and symlinks are not recognized. So if you have files to sync that reside in multiple locations, they need to be consolidated to a single location, which is inconvenient at best and impossible at worst (e.g., if they don't all fit on a single volume).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am trying to use it to automatically upload Veeam backups to offsite cloud storage. After a few days of experimentation, I seem to have a workable, albeit imperfect, system. Assuming all goes well, I will have efficient movement of my backup files offsite.

Dropbox is useful for Business

What do you like best about the product?
access to large files wherever I am at without worry of losing a usb or forgetting it at home. Also, the ability to share a link to the handbook and just change the file without needing to change the link or QR code to it in all our locations.
What do you dislike about the product?
you need internet access to access your files or pictures etc so you need to make sure where you are you always have internet access
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
large file sending, access to delicate documents, and the ability to always access my computer wherever I am. Allowing employees access to updated key documents that I only need to upload to Dropbox as changes are made.

Best Cloud Storage Hands Down. Personal or Business!

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Dropbox for over a decade. It wasn't until recently when the company hired my younger brother that I discovered the platform's full potential. I utilize Dropbox to store, archive, and remotely access all of my youtube video recordings. The desktop app makes it very user-friendly, and there are so many tools to utilize once you dive in deeper.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to the application is that when attempting to download huge files or folders, a timeout error occurs. You must either download them file by file or send them to another protocol they have in the software for large downloads.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have solved the issue of bogging down my computer's local storage, which causes it to run slower. The cloud app has benefited me by allowing me to access files on the go anytime, anywhere from any device.

Dropbox is convenient for data storage

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like most about Dropbox is the ease of access that you have when using it. I like that I can use either the website or the app to save and access my information. There are many times that I have found it helpful to be able to access the documents that I had saved on my computer from my phone.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing I dislike most about Dropbox is the limit of 2 GB of storage without paying for the entire plan. The times that I need to save and access Dropbox vary depending on the month and the type of work I am currently doing, so having the whole plan at all times is sometimes more than I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem I am solving with Dropbox is being able to access my files from anywhere in the office. When I need to go to another computer or office space, I can save my files to Dropbox and access them in other places. This is great because I no longer have to carry around any form of an external hard drive.

Eight years user, never switching!

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like best that I can access it from anywhere -- all of my devices, or any web browser -- and that I can so easily choose which folders I need to see on which device.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like a simpler "one-click download" link option for sharing files with others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a professional photographer and we photographers deal in a LOT of files. While I use web-based gallery hosting for delivering image to clients, I still like to keep all files myself in an organized way and for years. Dropbox has been a total solution for my photography business. I use it to store and archive client files, I use it to store and easily access select portfolio images for social media and web use, and I use it for all the other administrative file storage needs for my business. I have two computers (an iMac desktop and PC laptop) and two mobile devices (a phone and a tablet) and I love that I am able to work from Dropbox seamlessly from all these devices via the Dropbox apps for the various operating systems, and that I have the option to access certain folders while offline.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is so worth the low-investment to have the peace of mind that Dropbox has all my files and I can access them easily any time.

Good, but it's no Google Drive

  • July 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can upload new versions of files and have the links stay the same, and that Dropbox is known widely as the default so that there is usually less to explain to clients. Its a useful tool for sending files, especially bigger work files, to people you are working with.
What do you dislike about the product?
The desktop client is really not good and makes things incredibly complicated. I wish there was a way where it didnt completely integrate into your system and you could just use it separately for uploading and downloading. Different levels of integration would be helpful. I also don't like that you can't put normal symbols in folder names. File names I understand, but folder names it makes no sense. Also, I wish that I could move a folder somewhere else from within the folder, rather than having to go to the folder its contained in to do so.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm able to get files to other people easily, and able to organize in a helpful way.For a company that works mostly remotely, this is a helpful way to have a mutual server of files.
