Good for cloud storage and file management

  • September 12, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
I like how straightforward Dropbox is. I can upload any file regardless of its size to the cloud storage and create folders. Folders can be made only accessible to me or shared, where I can invite users to grant them access to the files. Dropbox is available for use on web browsers, desktops, and mobile phones. You can download the application on any device and transfer files between your devices whenever you wish. Dropbox accounts have no expiry date due to inactivity, so you need not worry about losing your files if you leave your cloud storage untouched. The servers have 24/7 uptime, so you'll be able to access your files at any time without any issue. Dropbox's file recovery features are fantastic, and you can retrieve any file you have deleted within 30 days. For content collaboration, Dropbox is very helpful, and there are a plethora of tools to support it.

In addition to cloud storage, file sharing is also quite convenient. Although all your files are private after you upload them, you can make them viewable publically using the URL, which you can share with any user. You can also send email invites to them to grant them permission to view and download any specific file or folder.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dropbox comes with limited storage, and the features you get from upgrading don't justify the cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox is my go-to software for storing essential work files that I want to share with my colleagues. It is much safer and convenient than any other means of file sharing, and I can rest assured knowing that only the person I give access to will be able to download our confidential files. I use Dropbox to store weekly imported database information, collaborated documents, reports, presentation files, and source codes that require further editing. Dropbox allows us to edit files with other users simultaneously, making it easier for us to work together over the cloud. It's been an excellent solution for all my storage needs, and it allows me to create backups, which I can use to restore if there are any unwanted changes or issues that I run into. Dropbox also keeps track of version histories, so we can revert to any prior version of the file when necessary if we want to revert the editions. We also use Dropbox Paper, a feature of Dropbox which allows us to manage our work and collaborate efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend Dropbox because it is free to use, and it can be conducive to you and your work.

Very effective for working on Campus.

What do you like best about the product?
It is a simple storage tool to include information for those who work remotely and outside the office. You only need to have a valid and active email to create an account. I can share the files and folders I have added quickly and easily. Managing the application through a web page viewer (for example, I use Google Chrome) is intuitive and does not consume considerable resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite being a free tool in its introductory presentation, its 2 GB storage is limiting, and you must know how to use the space offered efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned before, sharing files and folders is an excellent help for our team, who find themselves daily configuring switches from different manufacturers and models. We also record information of interest, such as lessons learned about exceptional experiences in the field that facilitate new equipment troubleshooting and its configurations to operate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an easy-to-use tool and only requires an active email. It is excellent for sharing documents and files to complete remote or out-of-office (campus) jobs where up-to-date information is needed.

My experience of using dropbox

  • September 06, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is the simplest of the cloud storage device where we can save our files and easily access them via our mobile devices as well as desktop. Plus you can create a folder for your team and no need to individually share files or provide people access later
What do you dislike about the product?
Only 2GB of storage for non-premium users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I keep my documents personal credentials there as a backup. Some critical office files are also useful to me which I store with my colleagues after creating a shared folder in dropbox
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy cloud storage platform. You don't need to create a separate account with the company like for Google cloud or OneDrive but you can register with an existing email. They don't inundate you with promotional emails for 'checking' their other irrelevant stuff. It's very safe secured and the mobile app is convenient so that you can actually fetch your documents on the go and share them with whoever is required.

One Stop to keep your data stored securely

  • September 01, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One can upload files, and the security of the dropbox cloud is very high. Without a password, no one can access the files stored in the cloud. Dropbox allows its users to have access to the files even without downloading it, which makes me keep things organized and go through my excel sheet saved up there without downloading it.
What do you dislike about the product?
First of its a little on the expensive side when it comes to the storage plans. Downloading documents are a little on the tougher side as the user interface is a little complicated and when too many files are downloaded they are not zipped while other cloud services does it by default in case too many files are downloaded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me keeping crucial data at my finger tips. Transferring photos from iPhone to Android is so easy as everything is under one account. It supports .heic files which is supported on ios and not on android. Also uploading files to the cloud is so easy and you can enable photo auto sync on dropbox just like you have it on google photoes.

Dropbox Professional a near perfect asset storage solution.

  • August 23, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox Professional allows me to store gigs of data and easily share links with my team and our clients. We're a game development firm, so we need to upload builds of our game for review. Dropbox Professional gives our team the advantage of version control, which means we're never concerned about uploading a game build with bugs. We can always step back into time and restore a previously working version. Alternatively, we can update the download link in real-time with a fresh copy of the game. We don't need to provide a new link after updating our game package.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dropbox can sometimes be incredibly slow to upload. I switched interact access providers from Optimum to Verizon, and ever since that point, the upload speed has been excellent. It would have been nice to get some kind of warning that my upload speeds appear to be very slow, with perhaps a suggested method to improve it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My game development studio needed a way to upload large files (10GB+) to our publisher for review, and Dropbox is an outstanding solution. For testing purposes being able to restore older builds of our game was an unexpected benefit that leads to being able to track down some bugs.

Fantastic synchronization and collaboration software

  • August 17, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Dropbox for the last seven years. It has always been a great experience when trying to synchronize my files through all my devices; it makes it even easier to transition from an old computer to a new computer. I like the most recent features, making it possible to keep all my files on the cloud and use them on my device as I need them, On Demand.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say I like Dropbox deciding the name of my folder on my local drive. I use a personal and a business account, so the software automatically creates two folders with long names. As a programmer using Dropbox to synchronize my code and projects, I would instead prefer to have control over the folder name to have an easier way to type de the location of the files on a programming environment. Perhaps it is possible, but I have not had access to the setting to do this change. I would still recommend Dropbox 100%.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Synchronizing my projects through all my devices allows me to use whichever is close or more convenient to me, depending on my location: office, home, travel, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dropbox is a cloud storage tool that is definitely needed as part of a toolset for a better and more productive work environment.

Can't even remember what a DVD or Memory Stick is...

What do you like best about the product?
Having all our content in the cloud is just amazing. The smart update system that removes content you are not using from your device and only stores it in the cloud is awesome. We have over 7 terabytes of stuff that I have access to with a click of a mouse. I love the way it integrates with finder on my Mac so everything is at my fingertips. I also use the auto-upload function on my phone all the time. I shoot videos on my phone, it automatically uploads to Dropbox, edit it on my iMac - just so seamless. Also, use the collaboration function - We publish books on Innovation and we share layouts and designs on Dropbox for comments and collaboration.

Altogether one of the best business apps out there.
What do you dislike about the product?
If your settings aren't right and you have a bunch of devices you can get into an upload loop where a lot of data and bandwidth can be wasted...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration is key - easy to share and move huge files. Our team is distributed around the globe and we used to have to mail portable hard drives with big files. This is so much easier...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I suggest you take a bit of time going through the help files to understand how to use the product. The biggest issue we had was staff members that didn't understand how to use the product and they complained until I showed them the correct way to use it. The best way is to not use it in a browser window but use it in your native finder or file system.

Cloud file storage and content creation

  • August 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is easy to understand and intuitive in usage. You can use it on your web browser, mobile phone or download its application for your Windows computer. Uploading files to your Dropbox account can be done by the drag-and-drop method or browsing through your hard disk. Files are uploaded relatively fast, and you can see their progress and the time remaining for the upload. Dropbox uploads per file aren't restricted by size, so each file can be as big as you want them to be as long as they don't cross the maximum storage capacity on your account. You can organize and structure your storage with folders that you can create. Dropbox can be used for transferring files seamlessly as you can link your account to multiple devices. File sharing on Dropbox is very simple, and you can do so by giving them the link from which they can download. While Dropbox is completely free to use, you can upgrade your account for more features and facilities that aren't available from the get-go. You can easily create backups of your Windows so that if there's an issue with your computer, you can retrieve important data any time or restore your Windows to its previous state. The Trash folder in Dropbox allows up to 30 days of deletion recovery and up to 180 days if you upgrade your account. Dropbox is excellent for collaboration as well, as you can connect several applications for conferencing, task management, customer relationship management, data entry, and manage all your most used applications in a convenient way. Dropbox also supports cloud content creation, where you can work on papers and slides with your colleagues at the same time. You can also set timelines and create notes for better communication.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm happy with Dropbox and don't dislike anything.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been an avid user of Dropbox for a long time as it has been a viable way of sharing files. It's fast, and I can send my files to my colleagues quicker than any other medium. Dropbox is relatively safe, and it ensures that only the people I want to share my files with can download them. We have created some shared folders through which we can conveniently upload files without needing to make them only available through links manually. This makes all the files in the shared folders available for download to all of the invited users. Aside from storage and sharing, we also use Dropbox for creating content such as papers, reports, and presentation slides. Not only can we write and dit, but also attach images and videos to them. Much like a Word document, we can seamlessly format texts with HTML fonts, colors, and styles. This has been an integral feature in allowing us to create monthly reports, brochures, documentation for webinars, etc. Dropbox's connections with other software allows us to multitask seamlessly in a uniform window, saving us time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dropbox is free to use, and I recommend it to anyone who works remotely.

The best service to store your digital files and always have them in "your pocket"

  • August 12, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Before subscribing to a paid subscription, I was already a Dropbox user since the early days — I used it to store my university files and I had some extra storage provided by the university. Since then I have used and tested many other providers like Google Drive, OneDrive, Apple iCloud or Box, both personally and professionally and I never found any other that works better and as easily as Dropbox.
It's really easy to set up in mobile devices as well as in desktops/laptops, both Windows and Mac, the plans have reasonable pricing and storage in comparison to competitors and the overall the service is more reliable and well designed than others — for example, almost every image file can be previewed within Dropbox without the need of downloading them, even Raw files or large PSD files from Photoshop, something really important for me given that I'm a designer.
What do you dislike about the product?
For a long period of time, there was a problem with Dropbox on Mac laptops were "ghost files" were occupying large amounts of space. This problem was happening to a large number of customers but Dropbox wasn't really doing anything to solve it nor providing an ETA. This is solved now, at least for me but the thread is still very active in the Dropbox forums, so I'm not sure if this problem is still happening to some customers or not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Store backups of my digital files (mostly Raw photos and large images)
- Access that from any device connected to the internet
- Easly share files with clients and friends
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just make sure to follow the initial instructions of the setup and decide whether or not you want/need to have the option to "save hard drive space" turned on .
