The market leader but not necessarily the most affordable

What do you like best about the product?
It's a software I and most people are already familiar with and we know how to do everything. I also like that it can be integrated with many other softwares and made into a location directly on your desktop. Aside from that, it's popularity has lead to the creation of a lot of third party tools that make it even more useful
What do you dislike about the product?
Early on, it was noticeably slow to upload files, but that has since improved. Price might be the only real negative for me since there are competitors who offer many of the same features at better prices. My company still uses Dropbox but has switched to an alternative as well due to the price
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, just having the ability to find a document without always asking someone if they have it and can send it to you is worth a lot. But in general, we have many different departments where I work, and each has countless files they've accumulated over the years. Dropbox allows us to sav those files somewhere that we can all access them, while still allowing us to keep files private if we wish.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I really don't think you'd go wong with choosing Dropbox. If you have trouble deciding between cloud storage services, I would take a look at the 3rd party tools available for Dropbox and factor that into your decision as those tools may not be available for the alternative services.

Great for quickly downloading or sharing large documents

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to access my data on any device and the ease of sharing my documents with anyone anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it takes a few tries to figure out how to download something or figure out how something works. It is not intuitive as other applications and software
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not many problems but occasional download issues or figuring out how to open certain documents at first. But once I figure it out it gets easier and I'm pretty productive due to saving me time for downloading large files
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really great for download and storing large files and sharing them with others easily

Dropbox is a pretty great tool for moving files!

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Dropbox is the ability to transfer huge files without compressing them and emailing them. You aren't limited to any type of file, and you can even set up a folder to automatically share files.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside to dropbox is the number of emails they send you about either upgrading or changing your service. The free version has plenty of functionality, and I feel that if you need more, you will get it; you don't need so many emails.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use dropbox to ensure our advertising and marketing partners on the other side of the planet have access to any and all files they need from us without having to wait for emails to be sent.

Dropbox vs Box -- the choice depends on what you use it for

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For me, Dropbox storage is free and has been since a free permanent 50GB Dropbox account was included with the HP Touchpad tablet I bought in 2011. Not a bad deal, really. Each time I log into my Dropbox, they advertise an offer for a paid upgrade and each time I decline the offer. For what I use it for, the 50GB storage I have at Dropbox is fine and probably will be for the foreseeable future.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have both Dropbox and Box for online file storage and syncing. I use my Box account far more often than I use Dropbox. I tend to prefer the way Box syncs files between devices over the way Dropbox does it. I typically use Dropbox as an online bucket for data I don't look at very often but don't want to delete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox works for me as an online catch all storage solution. It's also pretty good as a place to store a large file or set of files then send a link for someone outside my company to download. I've probably used that feature of Dropbox more than any other over the years.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dropbox is a very workable online storage solution. I use it as an online bucket of data that I can use to send out links to my customers when I need them to access larger files. Very easy to use.

Digital Storage for growing content team

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With the increase of content on the internet, it is becoming more and more difficult to keep up with all of your deadlines. You don't have time to download or upload anything anymore; you're too busy writing. This is where Dropbox comes in for us. With Dropbox, you can access your files from any device including your PC or Mac or even mobile device. It's super handy for our team with a lot of moving parts and different quality control checks that are required.
What do you dislike about the product?
The requirement for Dropbox to work well for us is a predetermined folder organization formula. Without that, it would be difficult to keep track of who is working on what and when. Another thing that occurred was when Amazon was down, all our dropbox links broke during that time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For the most part, if you have an issue with keeping the most up to date files available for your team to access, then Dropbox can help solve that issue. It keeps everyone organized and on the same page so you can accomplish more in less time.

You can upload content of any volume and it get it uploaded easily, we also store all of our company content in dropbox, and the best part is you can access the files from any where and on any device just you must have a link.
What do you dislike about the product?
some time finding large files in URLs is difficult when you don't remember the folder you have uploaded the file and the file name.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Can access the files easily anywhere and on any device.

A great solution for small business

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and access for clients is one of the best things about Dropbox; we require specific staff to have access to a 'Secure Vault'. We use dropbox for this as it needs to be accessed by different companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes syncing can break, but nothing a simple restart of the application doesn't fix. The only other issue I can think of was when moving the storage over to another drive, you're better off just having a fresh install.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having multiple companies within our group access one shared secure folder without the need for VPN access. This has saved us both money and time, as opposed to deploying a full VPN solution.

Convenient, but not handy

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easier than google to share from. Access from all platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to understand how drop box plays the game. It has its own quirks. So there is more of a learning curve than it appears. If you are not careful it can fill up your hard drive! Finding things is a challenge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it instead of an external drive. Storing social media Assests, so they are available from any device. No longer dependent on Carbonite to back up that drive.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
1. Understand how it works.
2. Spend some time learning it.
3. Careful with your set up, or you could fill up your hard drive!

Dropbox is a platform that client as well as my company like to use when sharing files.

  • December 14, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how it is easily accessible to both the client and my company. You are able to make folders within Dropbox that coincide with the files you are putting in.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing that become a setback when we first started using it as a company was for certain clients, we had to use a Dropbox business manager login to access the files. At first, it was difficult but now we are able to use it freely.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem we are solving with Dropbox is being able to share files in one easy place other than just email, where files can easily get mixed up with the day-to-day items.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My recommendation would be to make sure that your company has a Dropbox business profile just in case you need it.

Enjoyable experiance

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can go anywhere and have my files right there no matter what computer I'm on. As a writer, this makes keeping my manuscripts accessible, and it doesn't matter that I'm not on my original PC.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not too fond that it has such a low storage cap for the website. The only way to get more is if you have the primium. It isn't too expensive; it's just not ideal for some.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem I'm solving with dropbox is that I don't have to remember to take my thumb drives with me when I go out of town. It makes writing on the go a lot easier, and I don't have to remember the hardware all the time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's perfect for those on the go. Your files are right there, no matter what you are currently using.
