Dropbox - the faster, securer way to share files

  • January 06, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about dropbox is the efficiency and ease of use to access and download files - no matter how large the file size or quantity. It's also easy for our clients to use, which makes it an excellent alternative for them to upload their sensitive documents, all they do is drag or load their files and I, as the recipient, am able to retrieve and confirm receipt quickly. I also like the time/date stamp indicating when documents were uploaded.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure if it exists, but if there were a way to get automatic notifications every time a document is uploaded to dropbox, it would make information gathering much smoother. As of now, clients have to notify me via e-mail that there is a new document, which, if not done immediately, can get forgotten about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dropbox is helping me exchange and share information with clients in a much more secure and efficient way. Clients are partial to and find great appeal in the platform, making it a terrific tool. Clients can also organize their documents and files in their own way (such as by year/name/entity), and the files don't delete so that I can access older documents according to my needs.

Great file sharing and storing tool

  • January 06, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Even the free version provides plenty of storage space and is very easy to use. I like that I can log from any device and access the files. Many websites now also allow you to upload files straight from Dropbox; this saves storage space on the physical devices I use.
What do you dislike about the product?
One backside is that one needs internet to access information, so if I am at a place where there is no reception or wifi, I cannot access my Dropbox account. And as always: more free storage space would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have applied to many jobs by using Dropbox to upload my CV or other files requested.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a generally recognized tool for storing and sharing files, more and more websites build Dropbox into their file uploading process so it makes easy to access files.

Great cloud-storage option!

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that Dropbox offers browser- and Explorer-based file management. It's super easy to use across OS platforms--I often switch between my work PC and home Mac--and am so grateful for that!

It also offers a lot of different plans, from free/basic to tiered paid plans, so it meets anyone's needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I always wish they (companies in general, in addition to Dropbox) offered more storage in free versions--but I can't complain when I'm not paying for something. :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Dropbox to store files I don't need frequent access to, and that I can sync across multiple operating systems. It takes the tech guesswork out of it all, and that makes me happy! Love that I'm not dependent on any one device to access these.

Dropbox was a relatively easy way to store and search images

  • January 06, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was able to mass upload images and image files, share them easily with clients, and search those files later to find the images I needed to upload on product pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found that there were a lot of duplicates in our folders, and I wish there were more comprehensive ways to ensure duplicated images weren't as rampant. This could be an issue with my former company's process vs. how Dropbox handled it, but it felt there were few safeguards in place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Large, professional image files are incredibly difficult to share to clients in the correct resolution, and having images backed up in a cloud based site/software was vital to ensuring they were not lost.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to delete duplications and keep your dropbox clean. Make sure you have enough storage so constant maintenance, however, is not required of your team.

Dropbox gets it done when you need to move large files.

  • January 06, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Dropbox is a great tool that makes transferring files easy, safe and seamless. It is a beautiful product that gets the job done quickly. We would be lost without it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like sometimes that the software can be a little sales-like to try and have us upgrade our membership. Budgets can be tough, and I want to get the job done without the sales pitch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a video editor and constantly have to share files with people inside and outside my organization. This product allows me to do that in a safe and straightforward way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is the tool to use if you are transferring large files.

Dropbox is a FANTASTIC digital storage solution

  • January 05, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Dropbox is ubiquitous. It is on all of our devices and it is used on so many other devices that we can easily sharte items between ourselves and with others!
What do you dislike about the product?
I love the Smart Sync option, but I wish I had more control over which devices items actually upload to. Sometimes, I want things on my device, but not on my co-workers devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Dropbox to host files. We also use it to share some larger videos/files with clients. Our clients love that they can easily access the items without jumping theough too many hoops and we love that there is no cross-platform issues.

"Dropbox is excellent for project management and team management"

  • January 05, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Companies or organizations can use Dropbox for professional and non-professional purposes of team management and project management. Dropbox is speedy and efficient, making file sharing a breeze because we can upload and share them in seconds. And, we can upload multiple files simultaneously, saving time. We can keep track of all uploads and reupload them if they fail due to a connection failure. In addition, each member of the Dropbox group can edit or download files and even send their project papers, which can keep time and improve the productivity of the management of projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The most annoying part of Dropbox is when you delete a file accidentally, you will not return it. Even you can return it; it's somehow tricky rather than the Google Drives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In our company, we share daily worksheets, project achievements, and different paper works which can save time, and each member can get notification of the change at the same time of changes.

The first one & the best one

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is an easy way to send files & folders to other co-workers.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that there was not a data limit cap on the free product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When I was able to use it at work I would send video files to other reporters for a daily newscast. Then our IT department blocked it for some reason.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Wheter you need to share with other co-workers files or folders dropbox is easy to use.

Dropbox Business is a necessary part of our workflow.

  • January 04, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Dropbox all day, every day. love how easy it is to find ANYTHING at all-- super quickly. All of our clients files going back years are easily accessible, sharable, and always there. And you can control the sharability and revoke it as needed when projects end.

Dropbox file sharing is an integral part of how my business runs. It's enabled me to cut email largely out of the mix when it comes to sharing and sending drafts and final versions of documents to clients. And, unlike attaching things to an email, if I find a mistake or have to make edits *after* the document has been sent to the client, I can do so, usually before they've even noticed . ;)

Version history has saved my life many a time. Being able to roll back to a previous good version of a file is a massive benefit.

It's easy to implement and use across devices too--my PC, laptop, phone, and iPad are all connected, so no matter where I am I can pick up and work on documents in progress, or share them as needed.

The search seems to have inmproved lately, too. I scan my personal files/ important documents onto Dropbox, and anytime I need to pull up some random tax or insurance document, it's right there.

Dropbox is secure. I trust its security. However, for some reason, some larger Enterprise clients (or at least their IT departments) do not. For those clients, none of their employees can access Dropbox through their firewall, so I have had to find some workarounds for file sharing. I believe Dropbox should do a better job communicating trust to these larger companies, or, if there are truly security issues to be concerned about, shoring those up.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm hesitant to integrate Dropbox's ancillary offerings into my workflow/tech stack/SOPs, because they keep either 1) working weirdly, 2) being poorly supported, or they get 3) straight up discontinued (perhaps because of 1 and 2).

PAPER

I didn't like that there still wasn't full integration with Dropbox Paper for years. I think that has been addressed, but it took so long that I long since moved on to other solutions for collaborative documents, so I haven't looked into what the latest is there.

(The folder structure of Paper was entirely separate from Dropbox, making it so that documents created in Paper couldn't be stored in project folders -- you would have to have clients look in two separate places for relevant documents. I believe they have now been integrated in some way.)

CAPTURE | SEND & TRACK
I just got a notification that both Dropbox Capture and Dropbox Send & Track are being discontinued. I was using Capture fairly often to send clients async meetings and overviews of drafts (I'm a designer), and it was great for that. The desktop app was helpful. I liked being able to see when the video was opened, and to be able to track analytics on it. And much like reviewing videos on Dropbox, comments could be made at certain timestamps. I suppose it's back to using Loom now, or recording my screen with Camtasia, uploading to Dropbox, and sharing the link to that video. It'll mean using another platform, or going through a lot of extra steps.

DROPBOX SIGN/ SIGNATURES

I have Dropbox Esssentials, which means I have access to "SIGNATURES" on my sidebar. Under which, my contract templates and signing history can be seen. HOWEVER, I am not able to send documents out for signatures using SIGNATURES. Error messages result. I spoke to support about this at length, and the solution is for me to, instead, go to Dropbox Sign at sign.dropbox.com, login again there, and then send my documents out using that. It works, but....why can't I use all of the features on Dropbox? Why this workaround? Why are there TWO different and confusing dropbox signature features? It makes no sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't have to attach things to emails anymore and have multiple versions of documents going back and forth with clients and contractors. And we dont have to worry about sending large files. It's all there and downloadable from dropbox.

Practical Solution in the Wave of Remote Work

  • January 04, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With not only the surge in remote workers but also the lack of employees most businesses are facing, this just makes sense. With Dropbox Business we are able to securely access the files needed to continue working. Whether obstacles of quarantine, childcare/schooling, etc., business is constantly disrupted. Remote login to a desktop is cumbersome ...and hard to view. Having the secure ability to keep moving forward by allowing staff to work from home when needed keeps the disruption at a minimum and, more importantly, it allows the employee to continue to make a paycheck, stay on top of their responsibilities so as not to be overwhelmed when they return, and minimizes the risk of losing them.
What do you dislike about the product?
We did face issues with the syncing of files; but, with Support's assistance, we were able to work through the most critical sync issues. The only remaining issue is that the syncing can be laggy for some.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problems Dropbox Business has helped solve include cleaner file organization, permission levels for folder structures, secure file access for remote workers and off-site meetings, and file sharing with 3rd parties.
