Great ability to set up for easy access be other team members

  • August 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Setting up charts and dashboards that answer the regular questions allows the rest of the team to get insight without my intervention. Freeing me to focus on the more difficult questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Funnel charts are great but we find we hit their limitations often. The 30 event limit mean we often split up long funnels between multiple charts. Also when building large funnels the data refreshes after every change which can slow down how quickly you can make changes. A pause refresh while making changes would go a long way here.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solve both business problems, and design problems with ease. The benefit of having all this data in one place is that we can make informed trade offs concerning user experience and revenue generation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get in contact with them early as they have a team that will help you not only technically implement Amplitude but also ensure your data engineering is following best practices that they have learnt from their experience with others using Amplitude

    Retail

Great user experience but prices and packages are not flexible for sending a huge amount of events.

What do you like best about the product?
User experience, is great and really easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
Is not scalable, for example there is no integration with data bases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analyzing user behaviour, define pricing and possible results for marketing campaigns and explore the viability to launch a new feature

Nice-to-have product exploration tool

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pre-aggregated data, which grants fast loading speed. Instantaneous saving of analyses with a fixed link that can be referenced by other colleagues. Cross-platform tracking of individual users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Issues with events are not directly noticeable. Historical data is immutable, so gaps in data will remain forever. Not complete data for website visitors, because it depends on cookie consent. Tracking of marketing sources on mobiles is difficult because Google/Apple/Facebook no longer provide accurate data to third-party platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A/B test analysis. Download users and match with database. Conversion and retention funnels.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Useful when you have same users across different platforms. Useful when needed to track user actions on the website.

Amplitude helping us make faster decisions and take the guess work out of matching users to devices

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s super easy to drag and drop and they have all the key event tracking charts like funnels and flows. Also their matching algo for aggregating the multiple devices in to one user
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it’s difficult to make cohorts relative to the same data in SQL
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We’re trying to optimize our signup funnel and this easily shows the event funnel and if segments are set up properly it’s easy to compare cohorts

Good software, a bit clunky sometimes

What do you like best about the product?
Good for visualizing flows in UX and understanding impact of experiments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to connect these flows to over-arching business objectives/ KPIs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding how users are behaving inside our Apps and understanding how our experiments impact that behavior.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make sure it solves your use-cases specifically. It is not one-size fits all.

Approachable UI for non-technical users, but somewhat limited in client event schema flexibility

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The cloud-based architecture is great for non-technical people--no local drivers or software required to start viewing or creating dashboards and it's easy to share and collaborate with others.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude requires almost perfect forward clairvoyance. Without knowing exactly which event properties you want to transform and how you will use them so you can implement them in your product's client events, I feel more drawn to a data warehouse querying interface than Amplitude. Since I can't self-service these transformations, I have to ask our engineering team to explicitly send the results of a transformation (adding eng time cost and taking up event space within Amplitude) or ask for something custom, which are both not ideal alternatives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helps us quickly see product usage metrics without needing to set up complex data pipelines. We really enjoy the integrated data platform that includes both ingestion and processing, as well as the lightweight and opinionated visualizations and analyses that are easy to set up in Amplitude.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for an easy, well-structured product and behavioral analytics platform, Amplitude is an excellent choice. However, be aware that Amplitude cannot replace the full spectrum of data needs at a growing technology company, namely data warehousing and querying.

A good tool for event-based data

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The visualizations are really nice - easy to read.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not very intuitive to learn - knowing which types of visuals to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Funnel conversion for marketing campaigns.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Dive into the data integrations to really understand the full power of the tool.

Lots of features, need time to understand

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Setting up new charts is easy.

The query-like UI to create new charts (we use funnel analysis quite heavily) makes it simple to target what we need when it comes to creating event data sequences. It takes a matter of minutes for us to set up a new funnel analysis to monitor how users are using new parts of our application flow.

Coming from a Google Analytics background, Amplitude gives way more degrees of granularity and configuration when it comes to implementing your user journey analysis (a.k.a funnel analysis).
What do you dislike about the product?
More recently, i found the need to save charts and partially completed parts of a dashboard.
A nice to have would be a bookmarked charts area so that it's easier for my team to collaborate on building charts together.

I see that we have that already for dashboards.

It's great that I can search for dashboards by team space, but for other areas such as cohorts, I find it odd that I can't filter them by team space. Seems like a missed opportunity here. As an example, our company has over 500 staff that interact with Amplitude. Although not every staff member would create their own cohort, it still remains hard to look for the cohorts my team cares about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main goal of our team is to create a self serve onboarding experience for our product so that users can get started sooner without needing human assistance.

We are trying to understand where the largest drop-off points are in task completion and what interactions the users have done leading up to completing said tasks.

Amplitude has helped us easily create these journey visualizations and in doing so, we were able to quickly iterate on our flows and test our new hypothesis around why we believe a certain UI flow is working vs another.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amplitude is as easy or as difficult to use as you want it to be. The WYSIWYG-style approach makes it easy to get into learning how to query for data without the knowledge prerequisite of having to know SQL upfront. As you start to get more comfortable with using Amplitude, you'll start to see how you and your team can increase the level of granularity and precision in the questions you care about.

As an example, in the beginning, you may ask "how many users view our page?".
Down the road, you may ask "where are users coming from in order to view this page? and where are they going after?"

Great for quick data views

  • August 26, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, quickly showing me engagement
What do you dislike about the product?
Want more functionality to customize charts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We want to see how users are using our product without having to go talk to the analytics team each time. Before amplitude views would take hours to turn around, now they take seconds/minutes
