Powerful self service reporting with a medium learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to get data into Amplitude, and how simple chart creation is. The ability to create Cohorts to answer more complex questions is one of the most powerful features, and I love that Amplitude continues to explore machine learning capabilities that help to level up the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude provides you with two objects to report on - users and events. It would be nice to be able to add other objects into the mix (like web pages, and products with their own properties that you could cross reference with an event) without having to purchase the additional Accounts add-on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self service reporting on customer behavior. We can now easily separate out meaningful web traffic from all of the noise and understand patterns in customer behavior.

Useful for making decisions based on data
What do you like best about the product?
The visualization of the data with bar and line graphs really makes it helpful to see what the data is saying
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know how I can have more control over it like sql, for example, if I wanted to select all iPads, there's several device types, whereas in SQL I could do something like WHERE device LIKE "%ipad%"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using analytics we can see statistics about our users, for example, what percentage of our users have adopted iOS 14 so we can use the latest technologies if enough users have upgraded
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's helpful when you want to make data-driven decisions. Many times for things like wanting to add support for a particular device like iPad it's hard to get buy-in from leadership but when you can use Amplitude to show, look, our users are using our iPhone apps on an iPad, it's minimal work to support that device type and we could positively market it, it makes sense. It also gives an idea on your current user base. For example, when I want to know what percentage of our users are on iOS 13 and above so I can start using SwiftUI or Combine, we can have hard numbers that really demonstrate what that would look like and what the impact would be on our users. Overall I'd recommend using Amplitude if there's scenarios like the ones I listed because it lays to rest suppositions and uses data.
Simplifies a PMs life and keeps me data informed
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude brings the type of analysis needed in a streamlined, simple format that helps the team distribute the load across engineers, analysts, and PMs. The interface makes it easy to use, like writing a SQL query, and allows non-analysts to spin up reports quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one downside is less on the product and more on the complexity of some of the use cases. There are a ton of events in our database but no clear definition of what the events are. I'm wondering if there are better ways to document the events and make it better known to consumers what the events are.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving the ability to answer questions on feature usage, funnel analyses, and comparison against historical data.
Amplitude really helps my product teams find the info we need and identify interesting segments
What do you like best about the product?
It's really easy to generate useful and insightful report. We are able to work on a 'self-service' model where we enable others in the organization on using the tool and then they can start generating their own insights (versus other tools where you might need dedicated analysts creating reports for you).
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to spend a lot of time making sure that you're pushing the right information into Amplitude. At the end of the day, you only get what you put in, and if you're putting in a lot of noise, you're going to get a lot noise coming out. Our initial days were a little rough because we were still learning and had to do some clean up to make sure things were good moving forward. Luckily the team at Amplitude was more than helpful in assisting us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The initial problems that we were trying to solve were around usage. How many users are using our products on a monthly basis? Weekly? Hourly? If we released a new feature, what was the % of our customer base that discovered and used it regularly? Once we sorted that out, we realized that there were a lot more questions to ask, but we didn't even know how to ask them until we got past the first hump. How many times did a user have to perform that specific action before they started doing other things? Is there a difference in user behavior by company size? By region? By platform?
One of the biggest benefits of Amplitude is how easily it lends a "trial-and-error" approach to slicing and segmenting our user base.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take into account other BI or data visualization tools that you may be using right now -- we ended up unifying some tools under Amplitude and kept other and had them play a complementary role with Amplitude. Both paths are possible, but it's important to think through the data strategy and understand what is useful for whom and when.
One of the most powerful product analytics tool!
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use - can create powerful funnels quickly
Can do more complex analysis like retention by cohorts, advanced segmentation etc, that is really helpful
If you looking to go deep into the user journey, then this is the best suit as you can create a segment and this is the easiest tool for applying the required filters and segments on various steps of the funnel to see the user flow. In one complete flow, it can easily provide you with all events that were conducted by a user during his session.

What do you dislike about the product?
Its hard to figure out the names of events unless there are proper specs to them.
Also data can be confusing if not instrumented properly
Some of the other cons are:
Providing a filter of organic traffic was a challenge.
Too heavy to run sometimes
Loading time for dashboards with larger number of different graphs could be improved
More data breakdown metrics could be implemented
Download the CSV option (what columns to download can be specified)
Speed of the platform

Understanding user behavior and performance of new product launches
Amplitude has helped track marketing effectiveness, success of new product launches and diagnose issues with current product experiences - esp onboarding funnels!
It provides a super useful analytics platform. You don't even have to have coding skills to use it and almost no training is required. Features and analysis are very intuitive. Speed could be faster. I didn't experience any downtime while using it. It smoothly integrates into the normal workflow of a developer and provides a hassle-free platform to managers.

Highly recommended!
Ease of use - can create powerful funnels quickly. Can do more complex analysis like retention by cohorts, advanced segmentation etc, that is really helpful
Amplitude is used heavily by both our product teams and our marketing teams at HubSpot but the rest of the business uses it as well. We use it to provide product-specific metrics for things such as sign-up to product usage. It is a great tool for understanding how different cohorts of users are interacting with your products and what certain factors influence those product metrics like usage and retention.

Exceptional service!
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very user friendly and our representative is extremely hands-on and helpful. We are able to share data analytics across the team regardless of whether they have amplitude or not. We can also share some information with our vendors and connect all of our data in one place. We are also able to make notebooks with universal information instead of having to create several back and forth emails with our team. Our favorite is creating cohorts and syncing them to other platforms we use. We use cohorts as audiences and have been great at retargeting specific customers during their lifecycle. I also love that when you share a dashboard, if your colleague makes an edit it will not update your dashboard and instead creates a copy for them to reference. Typically when sharing a dashboard you want to make sure that your data you've put together is not messed with. This makes sure that we all keep our work separate but can still continue to work collaboratively with the team. I also like how hands-on the Amplitude team is. We sync with them frequently and they are always sharing product updates and usecases that we can potentially look at. We also go to them with some ideas and they make sure we successfully execute that idea.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes! The platform is super easy to use and organized. The team has helped us clean up our data. Whenever there is an issue it is usually fixed within 48 hours or they suggest a way to work around what the issue is. The platform is also very visual and great to use for presentations. In the beginning we did have to work through some connection issues and just our data plan. We had some meetings trying to figure out how we could clean our data up which took some work. After sitting with the team and looking at our data and how we can clean it up it has been great. Our data is consistent across the board with all of our platforms and reporting that it was worth taking the time at the beginning to sit down and look at events and what we can be doing better. The amplitude team offered to meet with us more consistently to get this figured out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving customer retention and drop off. The benefits of Amplitude is that we can see where a user drops off exactly and how long a client takes before returning. We also found out the most popular times for services, days, the busiest shop. We have been able to track promotions on the store level and it is so easy to set up and share then continue to monitor. As mentioned previously, we use and share this data religiously. It has been a fantastic tool and they have an amazing team in place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it. This was a great decision for our team! It is so easy for everyone to use regardless if they are familiar with our data or not.
Great and capturing and analyzing data
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to visualize your data and understand user behavior and usage.
You can easily compare previous period data to see trends
the ability to define cohorts and groups of users makes it easy to study different group of users

What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes it is not very intuitive to form conditions and logic and use formulas to create derived metrics.
It is not easy to get to help documents from within the application

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to understand the type of activities users are doing in our web application and identify possible bottlenecks and other problems they are facing.
It also helps us to identify common tasks that the users do in our web application so we can focus on improving those experiences to get the most bang for the buck.

Think through what type of events you want to capture and what user scenarios you want to analyze before you start implementation.
Good UI, Poor features
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is nice, and the charts are pretty. Colors are well chosen for data vis to be pleasant to the eye while still being informative. I also appreciate the fact that I can create custom events. Another thing I appreciate is that I can create charts and reuse the same chart for multiple dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Amplitude is that occasionally, there is a lack of necessary features. It was tough for me to get what I needed out of the funnel graphs because I couldn't draw comparisons. Comparison charts in pathfinder graphs would be great. Basically, I'd like to use 2 different start actions and see how the customer changes their behavior given that different start point. Doing this would allow us to see the influence that start action has on overall customer interaction.
Another feature that was weird is that I can't look back on data more than 24 weeks for a clickstream chart. I'd like to see the growth of a feature over time, not just the last 24 weeks.
Another thing I dislike is that there's no examples for how some charts are to be used. They look cool and like they can bring valuable insights. However, I wish there was an example to see how exactly the chart can be used.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm trying to understand how much customers use certain features in our product. One benefit I've realized is that it's great to drill through to find the sequence of the actions that our customers take in product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think the UI looks nice enough to warrant the recommendation. You don't need to know how to code to create dashboards either so it's accessible to people of all functions.
Data visualization, segmentation and analysis made easy
What do you like best about the product?
There are many ways to segment the data both in terms of time period, user attributes and formulas.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you are doing with a large user set, and percentage rollouts with small features - it can be difficult to maintain consistently accurate charts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User drop-off at different points within the Delivery flow. I can see where users went and what else they did outside of my flow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out! Great time.
Despite limitations, Amplitude is a user-friendly tool that has proven useful across business teams
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude provides multiple functionality across Event Segmentation, Cohort creation, Funnel analysis, etc. that have proven extremely useful in deriving impacts of different experiments/testing or initiatives. If leveraged properly, Amplitude is easy to adopt across various teams and can be leveraged outside of purely Product Analytics (depending on analysis done). We've also managed to connect Amplitude to other tools utilized across the company, providing capabilities to centralize data tools, as well as broaden access to information cross-functionally.
What do you dislike about the product?
This may largely be driven by how Amplitude is set up at my company but there are often limitations in understanding user characteristics and significant dependencies on how the data is collected and transformed into Amplitude (i.e. anonymous ID's are difficult to aggregate to pinpoint unique users). There can also be complicated nuances that may swing results of analysis, pending on how UTMs are consolidated and data points are often best used directionally rather than on an absolute value scale
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems we are often solving with Amplitude Analytics is our attempts to understand on-platform behavior and user characteristics. Amplitude provides standardized charts that are often a great first step in understanding certain A/B testing or impacts in changing behavior. Amplitude is relatively straight forward to understand and has a variety of tools that can be leverage to answer broad questions related to our product
