A great tool to gain insights into consumer behaviour

  • March 03, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like the most is that it is very easy to make graphs to understand data behaviour with just a click of a few buttons and compare data side by side on the same scale. The filters that amplitude offers are also very cool. Also, the best part about Amplitude is that it's very fast which is not common amongst data analysis tools
What do you dislike about the product?
The few things that I dislike about Amplitude is that I can make graphs by specifying an event explicitly and I can not group events or make a query on the events itself[for instance a like query on the event name itself]. Moreover, exporting data out of amplitude to other services such as Snowflake using S3 has a time delay of upto an hour which is not the best thing. Another thing that I think Amplitude can improve upon is their pricing model, I think it is a little bit on the higher side as compared to other platforms that provide more features on the multi-event analysis front
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems that I solve with Amplitude are improving user experience through the insights I gain with the data and track the performance of my Products. For a while, we also used Amplitude for tracking user conversions and other metrics like CTRs, upsells etc
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great tool that allows you to gain meaningful insights quickly

What do you like best about the product?
We can track, analyze easily. Tracing is powerful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost proposal is high, and not reasonable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can track user abilities, events, search, analyze easily and powerful. Most benefits are forecast, and customer care.

Amplitude works super well to run a customer-centered product team. A bit pricey, but worth it.

What do you like best about the product?
Natively (and automatically) track app releases. Can help us with the changelog and also should make it easier to see how releases affect metrics. Amplitude has good collaboration features that can help analytics become part of the product culture. Shareable notebooks are nice to prepare live reports with commentary. It's helpful to keep notebooks for each feature and important bug fix.
Drilling down to the user journey from almost anywhere in funnels, charts, so for example, can easily drill into which are the 38 users that converted from X -> Y in the funnel. This is super helpful for troubleshooting, diving in, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Definitely a bit pricey.
- Overall the UI can be sluggish to load, which can be frustrating when you spend a lot of time using something.
- Cohorts and Segments can be finicky and can be error prone to define the actual cohorts that you care about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding core product usage and keep track of important product funnel. Full user lifecycle analysis. Evaluate the success of feature launches by monitoring key metrics (like retention, stickiness, etc). Keep the product and dev team oriented around the most important metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As good as it gets for analytics these day, but can get fairly expensive quickly.

Best user analytics software I've ever used

What do you like best about the product?
I really liked how quick and easy it was to integrate with my iOS applications. I use Amplitude for three of my applications and it took me less than an hour to set up for each of the apps. I definitely thought it would be very time consuming to set up but I was pleasantly surprised.

I also enjoy the user activity tab the most. It's super exciting to map out how my users are using the application step by step and I often go on Amplitude simply to see what my users are up to. It's really insightful to learning where the users can get confused or where the users tend to purchase premium, and it's helped me make graphs to pinpoint certain flows.
What do you dislike about the product?
I particularly dislike the lack of freedom for graphs. I sometimes want to map out really complicated flows / graphs but Amplitude is pretty limited in that regard. I notice the formula section allows you to customize but that is very confusing and I could not figure out how to use that to properly map out exactly how it would look. Maybe a help section for the formula or an easier way to do custom graphs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have realized a lot of problems with the UX of my mobile applications. I can easily see where users become confused and drop off the app early on. I was able to solve this by making it more intuitive and quickly see that users don't drop off at that same step.

I also can see whether users know all of the functionalities of the app, or if it is something that I need to make known to them. I've learned that users didn't know about a swiping functionality, so I added it as part of the walkthrough to make the conversion much higher.

How simple it is to get actionable insight
What do you dislike about the product?
Explanation of some of the analytics. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what I am looking at.

I am trying to understand how users are using my platform, which users are using my platform, and how to make that experience better all around.

A complete analytics Tool

  • March 02, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is a really simple tool to use, but also has powerful features for deep analytics tasks, even in the free plan. I find useful the retention and engadgent reports. As a analytics Tools I prefered Amplitude over Google Anlaytics, because you have a better tracking of events, user behavior and transactions, the only thing GA does better it is channel atribution. I think Amplitude it is similar to other event based tools. But the free Tier with 10M of events is really awesome for small companies or Startups.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have different types of formats when creating formulas in segment event analysis. Also sometimes I would love to have different types o graphs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Funnel conversion analysis, right now we know the same-day conversion. And with cohorts we have a deep insight in vintage adquisition.

Hands-down the best analytics tool for mobile apps

  • March 02, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is the best analytics product I have found for understanding user behaviour in our mobile consumer app.

It is so easy to create charts and query for data/insights in Amplitude. It is so easy to build a complex query with multiple filters and conditions.

Our team loves the dashboard feature which allows us to place all our important charts in one place. TV mode is a nice feature is you ever need to present the charts.

I also love that I can quickly view user streams or user paths to dive deeper to understand the user behaviour underlying the charts.

Lastly, Amplitude also has one of the most generous free triers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude seems to track "Application Opened" event even when the app just receives a push notification. This can be terribly misleading for an app that sends a lot of notifications. The way we've gone around this is by tracking our own Custom Event.

The inaccuracy of the "Application Opened" seems to also impact user session tracking. We tend to have many 0 sec sessions as a result of this, which also ends us skewing our user session chart.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We rely on Amplitude to understand how users are using our product.

We are pre-product market fit so it's super important for us to get full visibility on what the impact of the changes that we make to the product and to quantify that impact.

It also helps us answer questions that pop up in meetings and discussions the fly, because it's so easy to create or edit charts.

Amplitude also helps to have reliable evidence for potential investors and stakeholders who might want to perform due intelligence on our product.

A dedicated product for product analytics perfectly suited for most of our needs.

  • March 02, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The chart creation interface is well suited to quickly create any visualization we need. The ability to use values from the props to narrow data or group data is very useful. The ability to create teams and only share certain charts with certain people is an added bonus.
What do you dislike about the product?
The starter package doesn't let me create user cohorts. A fixed number (say 5) of user cohorts in the free version would've been great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reports created on Amplitude are used to make important decisions regarding feature optimizations/enhancements. We also use it to share insights with the content creation team and the business team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for something for product analytics, look no further :)

What do you like best about the product?
Automated reporting on 30 day retention by multiple KPIs is very easy to achieve.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some capabilities are limited - for example, data cannot be viewed in larger than a 365 day window.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to identify steps in the product funnel that allow us to optimize the in-game experience for our mobile app players.

Great analytics tool for our enterprise SaaS platform

  • March 02, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is easy to get up and running, and comes with a variety of powerful charts and tools in the free tier. Creating analyses is easy and intuitive, and it's been invaluable in getting my team to be more data driven.

We create dashboards by team/customer type/ and metric type, then hook everything up to a Slack channel so everyone knows when we've put together a new chart.

Amplitude support has also been great in helping us with technical challenges related to some of the ways our product is setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the workflows for downloading user data to CSVs are cumbersome, and the view of an individual user/session are not that useful. I would love a more streamlined view of individual users, but this probably makes more sense for our use case as we're enterprise SaaS and don't have the volume of users a consumer product might.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude to figure out which of our customers are getting value from our product. We user stickiness (aka the power user curve) to see which customers have power users, and which customers don't. This helps our customer success team recognize which of our accounts are at risk, and helps our product team build features that drive more engagement from our less-than-power users. Our design team often looks at funnel analyses to determine where there could be a usability problem.
