Amplitude helps us run product analytics on a daily basis to improve our user experience

  • May 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We can easily and very quickly analyze almost anything in the user journey/experience.
The flexibility and variety of charts is really helpful to start digging into the behavior of our users in the app and understand what works well, what need to be improved, etc..
The interface is super easy to understand and use, and in really no time we can produce any knid of analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The full version is quite expensive, particularly for early-stage startups. However we benefited of the full version in our first year of usage but to be honnest that was not the moment when we most needed it.
Also the interface itself is not super up to date in term of design but it is easily usable which is the most important.
And finally it would be great to have an onboarding on Amplitude when first starting to use it so that we could know the best way to use it (including tagging the app properly) and to organize the information from the very beginning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Any new app release we do, we can analyze the impact on our top user metrics and iterate again and again. It really helps us improve our user engagement and retention from one version to the next one.
We can also easily identify roadblocks in our user journey and by digging further we can go really to the root cause of this.
Also with all integration we can really caputure the full journey: from source of acquisition to the revenue generated by the user.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you plan on running proper product analytics, Amplitude is a tool to consider, particularly for mobile apps.

Fantastic Analytics Tool for Mobile Apps!

  • May 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Set up was very simple. We were able to get up and running in less than an hour. Most of that was non-Amplitude related work, but once we were set up, events appeared immediately! We love the fact that we're able to send events straight to Amplitude and are able to iterate on the fly!
What do you dislike about the product?
To be perfectly honest, we have not found anything we really dislike about the platform. The tool has thus far offered everything we need and more. We can't wait to really test the limits of the platform once we start capturing more users and generating more user data!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to find a simple and efficient way to capture user data. This brought us through a number of potential options, from using Google Sheets to AWS to Google Cloud to all sorts of other really convoluted processes. We're extremely lucky to have found Amplitude and haven't looked back since. Amplitude allows us to capture user data immediately and investigate any discrepancies in user behavior.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For anyone looking at Amplitude, you should consider it. Having used multiple platforms across my entire professional career, it's been amazing to see a platform that is very intuitive and easy to use. It's definitely worth the investment!

For anyone looking for a cheap/free analytics tool, this is it! Trust me when I say I spent months trying to find the perfect tool for my small LLC. This has solved all my troubles and I'm planning to utilize this going forward. Once we are profitable, we plan to up our tier and start utilizing more of the platform.

Great experience, great customer service

  • May 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive language, awesome documentation, and great customer service. The charts are live, and it's clear that the different tools have been well thought through.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unfortunately like a lot of business intelligence applications, it takes time to ensure the numbers match up across different tools, which is a little difficult for small teams like ours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting a better understanding of how our users use our product, and using the different charts are awesome. It's looking at conversion funnels

Setting up Amplitude is easy but could use more guidance

  • May 06, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I'm currently using Amplitude to test out an MVP so it's great to be able to see individual users' behaviours, how they move through the app and how long they spend on certain screens. I imagine that this isn't super beneficial when you have many users but for my small userbase it is amazingly helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there are many features I'm probably unaware of and I feel a bit lost on where to start. Even though I know I could just research this, I just haven't yet! It would be helpful to have more guidance on charts especially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We just started testing an MVP and it's still early days, so at this point we are trying to just figure out if our simple product is viable and if users really benefit from our idea. So far I think we have benefited from Ampltidue mostly by being able to view in detail how users behave with different features in the app. It's been great because now I know which users to call for an interview based on how active/inactive they are or if they are using our app in an unexpected way.

The best self-service tool for product managers

  • May 06, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is an excellent example of how self-service analytics powers up product decisions. It allows a non-technical prodict person quickly onboard themselves into data structure and start using it for product discovery. Such an instant access to data is a very powerful tool for prduct managers. For me personally Amplitude is a starting point for any product question I have.

The ability to run both high level product dashboards and at the same time being able to dig deeper per user level is sucha a powerful combination. Observing a particular user behaviour usually gives more insights than anything else. I usually do that before any high level analysis.

The other best part of the Amplitude is generousity for smaller startups. It's really easy to start tracking your own product performance with Amplitude using their free tier.

The data set up and data managing process is also build pretty efficiently. Gives a full overview of all the inputs and helps to make any small fixes right on top of the existing data layer. Pretty useful for sometimes messy product development at startups :)
What do you dislike about the product?
Data visualization plays a massive role in storytelling. Unfortunately, Amplitude lacks visualization customizations.
There are no options to track an agregated data per user. That's usually pretty crucial for user engagement metrics. I presume there might be an options to do that using custom formulas. But unfortunately help center doesn't provide much information around it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using Amplitude for core product KPIs: daily, weekly and monthly levels. Plus a bunch of dedicated dasbhoards per each product area.
User behavior insights: engagement, usage based charts.
Product exploration: usually on demand quick analysis based on a particula question or need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you get your event taxonomy set up right.
I would spend some additional time testing some different structures before the final implementation. This will save a lot of time in the future.

Best analytics product I have used for understanding user behaviour on my product!

  • May 06, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very easy to use and integrate if you don't have a lot of knowledge in the area, so it won't be much of a problem to keep up with your product developments. Also, it is so useful for anyone in the organization, from customer success sales to product and marketing teams. You don´t need to have any knowledge of SQL, so for me, that is a TEN.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even though it is really hard to find something that I do not like because Amplitude is a great product and they are always making product upgrades you always have something to be better at. I wish I could copy dashboards and re-use them without having my charts "connected", that means, I would like to edit them separately but at the moment you can´t do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On the marketing side, I am able to see which marketing campaigns work better, which sources my users prefer, and which is the social media that provides me the higher account of user registered.
On the product side, I can see which features my users use and which ones they don't and make a better product based on that. Also, I can see the behavior of my most retained users and that is critical.
On the sales side, I can create churned, bad medium, and good user cohorts in order to see how my clients are performing and when to contact them to prevent downgrades.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Read Amplitude playbooks (Retention and engagement) in order to start with some knowledge so it is easier to start creating charts and analyzing data.
Decide your taxonomy as Amplitude recommends (noun + verb) and make it critical to your developers to follow it, it will make the work easier for everyone in the organization later on.

Funneling made easy

  • May 06, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The funneling in amplitude for turns of events is quite easy to check upon for the analysis of any feature set. The user properties sent across to events can easily be equipped and used to manipulate the data sets and get clear picture.
What do you dislike about the product?
Daily update over mails / slack channels in a non enterprise version would have been great. And users are shown as unique over here, and not totals for funneling piece .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data insights, analytics , readiness of data sets have been easy and time saver in terms of other tools. And easy graphs like language, app versions, geographical basis ready made graphs are some great value adds.

Powerful anayltics tools, great for company wide self service

  • May 06, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
UI is very straightforward, with lots of possibilities for analysis. It's easy to onboard colleagues in the tool so they can view data or even make their own graphs. Documentation is handy and Amplitude has a lot of great resources and webinars on the subject matter.
What do you dislike about the product?
I want the ability to change the time period for a whole dashboard without having to reconfigure every chart. Sharing ownership of graphs so a whole team can edit a dashboard could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude to understand how our users use our features. Our feature success metrics and north star metric are tracked and communicated to the whole company in Amplitude. We monitor adoption and engagement tightly for all deployments and our Customer Success team is autonomous. Amplitude allowed us to transfer our cumbersome legacy analytics system to a fully self service and transaprent solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A solid proposition in the Product Analytics market. Paid version for complete feature set is quite expensive but the free version already provides a lot of value.

Easy to use but limited if you come from SQL-capable services

  • May 05, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is so easy to use. You pick the event you want to track and there you have it, a neat little graph. The UI is clean and straight forward. I am not a huge fan of how limited the dashboard designer is - sometimes I want to just show 4 big numbers in a line, but each graph _has_ to take up at least half a row / block. Aside from that minor gripe, the tool itself is pretty flexible and simple. It's data for the people, not computers, which is what data should be - accessible and actionable.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're coming from something that allows SQL and more pure forms of data manipulation, eg. DataStudio, Amplitude has some pretty big draw backs. If I want to view event data for average week on week, Amplitude can do that but only for the week as it defines it. Want the last 7 days vs the 7 prior? You'll have to export your data to csv and do the math yourself. The ease of use does come at the cost of some functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use amplitude to measure a bunch of key metrics like app install volume, registration and key milestone funnels, user engagement across different communications channels and more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your data team is stretched and marketing or product need insights now, Amplitude is a great tool for simple, easy to use analysis.
