Product manager using amplitude.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the way it visualizes data. The data is easy to manipulate and pretty user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a high learning curve to using amplitude. People who fully understand amplitude are hihgly coveted at my company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All of our product KPIs are dervied from our amlpitude data. A problem we are facing is retaining users to our product and amplitude gives us insights on where we should focus our efforts to increase engagement.
An innovative experience in data analysis and tracking.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of data connection creates a universe of analyses; since the implementation, we have had the opportunity to advance in the company's internal indicators.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe that like any tool, it ends up being very sensitive to filters, making it difficult for new users to experience. Ideally, dashboards should have macro filters, especially regarding the period.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to track the customers entering the WhatsApp flow and understand the conversion of these customers. Amplitude solved this problem.
Very User Friendly but Needs some basic Visualization help
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to get answers to the questions that Product Managers have about user behavior on their products. Analyses I like best are the funnel completion rates, time to complete a funnel, and Journeys (what do users do after they do a different event).
What do you dislike about the product?
The visualizations on the dashboards are lacking. I can't display all rows of a table very well. The cohorts and segments are also not intuitive to create.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data administration and management is very nice. Its easy to see and manage which events we want to record in our project.
Charts load very quickly and it is easy to quickly explore data by time, overall, and % of active users. The funnel functionality and user journey paths easily answer questions around user behavior, generally those questions are complicated to get answers for in other platforms.
Easy for ad-hoc analysis, lacks in deep analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is easy to setup and customize on an ad-hoc level and to share dashboards and visualizations within the organization. Even though underlying data can be massive, loading time seem to be low which increases the usability and incentivize usage. Customer Support is helpful and responds quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel it lacks in deep understanding analysis and complicated analysis especially when it comes to aggregating different events where parameters might not be of the same format. For this I use SQL-based analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quickly analysing trends and ad-hoc requests
Great tool for understanding users experiences
What do you like best about the product?
The upsides are that you can see real time analytics and data. It's a very easy to use platform as well. It's a very simplified UI so it's very easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Charts, dashboards and analytics and sometimes get lost as there is not a super great way of organizing content. The spaces feature is nice but could definitely be improved. Also, the formulas feature for segementation and other charts can definetly be limited on what you can track and how many metrics you can track. Additionally, wish there were more ways and capabilities to visualize the data in terms of colors, appearance, charts, and edits you can make.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identifying user flows and drop off patterns. Also understanding where and how users are converting. Measuring new feature performance and how groups of users interact with the product.
An incredible platform
What do you like best about the product?
Fast, powerful analytics at the drop of a hat. Saves us a ton in compute expenses running custom analytics in our warehouse. Fast outcomes!
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some intersting nuances that your rep will need to clarify for your use case. It's not a simple implementation. The drop filters will leave you wanting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our analysts were running business critical complex custom SQL on hundreds of billions of rows in one-off queries that were becoming exceptionally taxing on our platforms. How can we offload complex analytics and democratize data exploration?
Offers depth of analytics and powerful visualization capabilities
What is our primary use case?
I used Amplitude mostly for data analytics and analysis.
What is most valuable?
I loved using Amplitude because it allowed me to dive deep into product usage and analyze different customer segments. My favorite part was pinpointing exactly where customers were dropping off in their journey and understanding the events tied to conversions. This helped me focus on areas needing improvement, conduct customer interviews, and validate insights with existing reviews, leading to more informed decisions.
What needs improvement?
In terms of improvement, setting up reports in Amplitude was challenging for me as a newer user. I relied on others who had specific knowledge, which sometimes caused delays due to resource constraints. It would have been helpful if the process of creating reports was more intuitive and user-friendly, allowing me to gain insights independently without relying heavily on the product team.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used Amplitude for a year and a half.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Amplitude was very stable during my use. I never encountered any errors, which was refreshing compared to the occasional issues I have experienced with AWS products.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I would rate Amplitude a solid ten for scalability. I didn't see any reasons why it couldn't handle scaling effectively.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Amplitude is easier to use than Splunk because its user interface is more intuitive and user-friendly. Splunk's interface felt technical and outdated, like an old mainframe system, while Amplitude's was much easier to navigate. Although Splunk might excel in detecting anomalies, Amplitude provided a smoother experience, especially for tasks like tracking performance over time.
How was the initial setup?
Setting up Amplitude initially can vary in complexity. If you have all the necessary information, like event IDs and customer lists, and your requirements are straightforward, it's relatively straightforward. However, the complexity increases with more variables and larger datasets, making it a bit more challenging to work with.
What other advice do I have?
Amplitude played a crucial role in improving product decisions for our onboarding project. By analyzing user behavior, we identified key points where customers were dropping off in the activation process. This allowed us to tailor the onboarding experience, making it more personalized and engaging, resulting in higher activation rates and improved customer retention.
Integrating Amplitude with other tools in our stack improved our analytics capabilities. I didn't encounter any issues with its compatibility or functionality alongside other tools.
I would recommend Amplitude to others because of its depth of analytics and powerful visualization capabilities. Overall, I would rate it as an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
