Amplitude really helps my product teams find the info we need and identify interesting segments

  • November 12, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's really easy to generate useful and insightful report. We are able to work on a 'self-service' model where we enable others in the organization on using the tool and then they can start generating their own insights (versus other tools where you might need dedicated analysts creating reports for you).
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to spend a lot of time making sure that you're pushing the right information into Amplitude. At the end of the day, you only get what you put in, and if you're putting in a lot of noise, you're going to get a lot noise coming out. Our initial days were a little rough because we were still learning and had to do some clean up to make sure things were good moving forward. Luckily the team at Amplitude was more than helpful in assisting us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The initial problems that we were trying to solve were around usage. How many users are using our products on a monthly basis? Weekly? Hourly? If we released a new feature, what was the % of our customer base that discovered and used it regularly? Once we sorted that out, we realized that there were a lot more questions to ask, but we didn't even know how to ask them until we got past the first hump. How many times did a user have to perform that specific action before they started doing other things? Is there a difference in user behavior by company size? By region? By platform?

One of the biggest benefits of Amplitude is how easily it lends a "trial-and-error" approach to slicing and segmenting our user base.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take into account other BI or data visualization tools that you may be using right now -- we ended up unifying some tools under Amplitude and kept other and had them play a complementary role with Amplitude. Both paths are possible, but it's important to think through the data strategy and understand what is useful for whom and when.

One of the most powerful product analytics tool!

  • November 12, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use - can create powerful funnels quickly

Can do more complex analysis like retention by cohorts, advanced segmentation etc, that is really helpful

If you looking to go deep into the user journey, then this is the best suit as you can create a segment and this is the easiest tool for applying the required filters and segments on various steps of the funnel to see the user flow. In one complete flow, it can easily provide you with all events that were conducted by a user during his session.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its hard to figure out the names of events unless there are proper specs to them.
Also data can be confusing if not instrumented properly

Some of the other cons are:
Providing a filter of organic traffic was a challenge.
Too heavy to run sometimes
Loading time for dashboards with larger number of different graphs could be improved
More data breakdown metrics could be implemented
Download the CSV option (what columns to download can be specified)
Speed of the platform
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding user behavior and performance of new product launches
Amplitude has helped track marketing effectiveness, success of new product launches and diagnose issues with current product experiences - esp onboarding funnels!

It provides a super useful analytics platform. You don't even have to have coding skills to use it and almost no training is required. Features and analysis are very intuitive. Speed could be faster. I didn't experience any downtime while using it. It smoothly integrates into the normal workflow of a developer and provides a hassle-free platform to managers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended!

Ease of use - can create powerful funnels quickly. Can do more complex analysis like retention by cohorts, advanced segmentation etc, that is really helpful

Amplitude is used heavily by both our product teams and our marketing teams at HubSpot but the rest of the business uses it as well. We use it to provide product-specific metrics for things such as sign-up to product usage. It is a great tool for understanding how different cohorts of users are interacting with your products and what certain factors influence those product metrics like usage and retention.

Amplitude makes analytics accessible to the entire org

  • November 12, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude's greatest strength comes from its accessibility. There will always be a need for Data Scientists and Analysts and Engineers, but sometimes you need a quick answer without having to go through a lot of process to request it. "How often do users click the 'more information' tooltip on my product page?" Amplitude is great at putting this level of access into non-technical users' hands and empowering them to make data-informed decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude charts don't always render exactly how I want them to, and there is no way to, for instance, swap or relabel X and Y axes. Most of the time the charts are good, but in the instances where they don't quite tell the story I want, I end up having to export the data and run my own chart.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Amplitude to generate questions. Where is there concerning levels of funnel attrition? Which types of users aren't converting as well as we would like? Who are our most (and least) valuable users, and at what point in the user journey does that gap begin to widen?
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Amplitude is not a replacement for your entire analytics stack, but it is a great way to get data into more people's hands. If you're looking for a way to empower non-technical team members with data, then Amplitude is a great solution for that.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like that you can build so many different types of charts, make lots of different user groups, and perform many kinds of detailed analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's hard to know what the events in Amplitude are actually referring to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude is helping me understand customer behaviour better!

Excellent analytics system for collecting helpful data and metrics

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This tool is quite intuitive to use for product analytical purposes, I like the way you can create custom groups of events, it also offers an excellent customizable control panel, also the charts and dashboards update automatically, the platform simply extracts and it organizes a lot of information by itself, makes product analytics much easier, it also integrates to database events with query workflows, it also has real-time analytics so you can know what is happening at all times.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since I am using this product I have not had any problems, it is very easy to use and it is a great way to be close to users, I have nothing negative to say about this software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is an excellent tool especially for analysis, now it is much easier to keep track of all my information without complex queries or scripts, without complicated models or codes, it also allows me to closely monitor the performance of our entire product with very little additional elevation, it also provides a wide variety of charts and tools to help us conduct a more detailed investigation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend the use of this product for its excellent performance and ease of use, it is ideal for any user in general.

Core tool for our product, growth and data teams

  • November 05, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, quick to learn, flexible. Allows building of funnels and monitoring of events with no problem, and advanced segmentation is simple once set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
Advanced features not as intuitive or useful for our use case. Time frames are limited in some cases, and for our product (which has a 14-day trial), this was limiting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track user funnels for our signup, activation and conversion periods, and use Amplitude for all our experimentation tracking as well.

Great product and awesome support - kudos to Tracy Guo!

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The product is extremely useful to understand user behaviour, quickly identify pain points and understand how users are moving from one step to the next (how quickly, how successful, etc)
It is overall intuitive (for BI users) though there are certain caveats you have to be careful about (normal and expected with any BI tool) :)
The analyses you can perform are very powerful and can definitely shape the direction of the product to have a higher impact on KPIs

The support has been amazing, specially Tracy Guo who followed up on an issue on their end even 1 month after it happened (and considering we are on a free plan)! Amazing! Kudos to her!
What do you dislike about the product?
The way to collaborate with other people is not ideal (we are on the free version, I believe the paid version is better on this aspect).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pain point identification, QA events, understanding anomalies, time to perform an action, qualitative analysis on sample of users to the user lookup, etc
