A stable solution that can be used to store structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data
What is most valuable?
Sharding is an excellent feature of MongoDB. Atlas is an awesome feature of MongoDB that makes life easy.
What needs improvement?
People coming from RDBMS should have the flexibility to write queries in SQL that can be converted into JSON queries. This feature is working, but we can still achieve some integration and make it more flexible. It is not as easy as writing direct queries on Atlas. This feature will definitely increase a lot of users. RDBMS users think this is a different query language, MQL, which is uncomfortable for them.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using MongoDB version 6.0 for more than 12 years as a customer.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
MongoDB is a very stable solution. The solution is a leader, according to the Gartner report.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In our company, around 2000 to 3000 people are using the solution.
How are customer service and support?
MongoDB’s technical support is awesome.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used the RDBMS solution, MySQL.
MongoDB has five to ten times better performance than MySQL. MongoDB has a lot of advantages. With MongoDB, you can store any kind of data, including structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. MongoDB has a lot of benefits over RDBMS.
How was the initial setup?
It is very easy to deploy MongoDB. If it is deployed on-premises, it takes an hour. It does not need any additional prerequisites or configuration details.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a lot of ROI with MongoDB because it gives five to ten times better performance.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
MongoDB's pricing is not reasonable, but it is not as expensive as the others.
The solution's pricing depends on the deal, which includes how long you will use it and the number of deployments. They do not have a fixed cost. However, the maintenance and support cost is included.
What other advice do I have?
I am satisfied with the product.
Our organization has a DBA team of 50 people. However, the work for the DBAs is minimal because MongoDB intends to have zero DBA. They want to develop a product where the need for DBAs is minimized.
Users should approach MongoDB with an open mind, without thinking that it's a different technology altogether and has a different language. Users don't need to develop the application based on a schema. They can develop the application, and the schema will follow.
Overall, I rate MongoDB an eight out of ten.
Mongo DB :PowerHouse of Data
What do you like best about the product?
Fully Managed Database: MongoDB Atlas provides a fully managed database service, which means that the platform manages all administrative chores including setup, configuration, monitoring, backups, and security. Users are able to concentrate more on their applications and data as a result, rather than on managing the infrastructure.
Scalability and Performance: Users can simply scale their databases up or down based on their needs thanks to MongoDB Atlas' seamless scalability. It has functions like automatic sharding, horizontal scaling, and dynamic node addition and removal. Applications can now withstand heavier workloads and are guaranteed to operate well even as data volumes increase.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost: Pricing for MongoDB Atlas is a topic of frequent concern. Particularly for larger-scale deployments or for capabilities like backups and data transfer, some customers have found it to be pricey.
Limited customizability: Although MongoDB Atlas provides an easy-to-use managed service for MongoDB, some users have noted that it has fewer customizability choices than running MongoDB on self-managed infrastructure. For users with particular needs or sophisticated installations, this restriction might not be appropriate.
Latency: Because MongoDB Atlas is a cloud-based service, customers in some areas or with slow connections have observed that it responds more slowly than self-hosted systems.
Atlas. This can be problematic for users who depend on certain features a lot.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MongoDB offers MongoDB Atlas, a fully managed cloud database solution. It provides several benefits by resolving a number of significant issues for both businesses and people:
Scalability: MongoDB Atlas offers simple scaling, allowing it to keep up with rising data volumes and application demands. By distributing data over several servers, it automatically handles horizontal scalability, assuring high performance and availability without the need for user intervention.
Effortless deployment and management of a MongoDB database are made possible by MongoDB Atlas. It does away with the need to set up and manage infrastructure, deal with backups, or deal with software updates.
Global Data Distribution: MongoDB Atlas provides a geographically distributed database infrastructure, making it possible to duplicate data across several parts of the world, allows disaster recovery, and makes it easier to comply with data residency laws.
MongoDB Charts are Interactive charts
What do you like best about the product?
MongoDB Charts integrates directly in MongoDB databases with no need for data extraction or transformation, and mostly I like this product because of its user-friendly interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
If the data we store in other types of database or file format, you need to extract and transform the data before using it. The second thing is if we user another database as the primary database, it requires additional setups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MongoDB Charts simplifies the process of creating visualizations by providing a user-friendly interface and no need for complex programming or query languages, and it enables real-time data visualization and reduces the time and efforts.
Best cloud based Database service
What do you like best about the product?
It simplifies the process of deployment. Also, it helps to manage large data and scaling of the MongoDB database in cloud; it allows us to deploy the MongoDB database across multiple clouds and regions, it also provides a security feature
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a paid service, so it is not available for those who don't have a decent amount to pay. Also, it has a significant dependency on MOngoDB databases, so we can not integrate other databases like SQL, MySQL or Oracle databases
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MongoDB database is scalable using MongoDB Atlas, offering high availability features. Hence, it replicates data across multiple servers within a cluster so that if one node fails, another will take over.
Easy to use Database
What do you like best about the product?
One thing which I always like about MongoDB is its ease of use. No additional installation is required like other DBs. You can create a running db through the Atlas website in just five minutes & also, its community support and available online tutorials make it easy to set up a running db in just a few minutes. I have used it in many personal projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I dislike about Atlas is it doesn't provide domain allow listing, which was a problem for our team while looking for security because our app was built with Next js, hosted on Vercel & Vercel doesn't provide you IP for the application you host.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my opinion, MongoDB Atlas is making it easy for college students and experts to start using database services without any hassle. Its free plan is beneficial for me to build running projects which my friends and other fellows can use you up to certain limits.
provides better understanding
What do you like best about the product?
MongoDB Charts is a useful tool to help us users better understand MongoDB data. It offers a variety of built-in features and tools for easy sharing and collaboration on visualizations. This helps me highlight correlations between variables and identify patterns and trends in your data sets.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a somewhat complicated platform to learn to use, patience and good knowledge make it possible to learn
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easier to understand data analysis supporting workflow to be less stressful and time consuming to perform
MongoDB Charts data visualization
What do you like best about the product?
MongoDB Charts provides lots of things integrated with MongoDB's security features, allowing users to control access to visualisations and dashboards based on roles and permissions.
What do you dislike about the product?
If data is stored in other databases or sources, integrating and visualising that data within MongoDB Charts may not be as seamless or straightforward. that is the disadvantage of mongoDB charts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefit of the MongoDB charts is the interface is too good for the visualisation of the data, and provides the data real-time data, collaboration and sharing.
