Snowflake: An Innovate Solution
What do you like best about the product?
Snowflake is really great for managing your infraestructure with the benefit to only pay what you are using on the contrary of many other solutions where you need to pay for the whole package even though you don't use many features. Also really easy to get everything up and running.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snowflake offers impressive scalability, nevertheless it can become expensive for companies with large data volumes and intensive use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem it solving for me is the unification of the data storage. This tool consolidates all the data into a single accesible location breaking down silos and making it easy to view and understand the data.

Snowflake Review
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing I like about Snowflake is its user interface and storage pricing
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike about snowflake. But they could have built analytics layer on top of snowflake
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are currentky storing our data in snowflake and using other tools to access data from snowflake to develop dashboards
Snowflake: A Lifesaver for My Data
What do you like best about the product?
I have been a long time user of Snowflake, my journey has been good. I am not a super techie but when I started using Snowflake the adpatation was easy and smooth. It's very fast and helps pulling up reports. Being a cloud application, managing large servers or anything is easy. Its a great organiser where everything is at one place and sharing with other users or stakeholders is also easy. As a data warehouse it also eliminates the headache of running out of space.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, the biggest problem I have with Snowflake is figuring out how much it’s going to cost us. You’ve got to keep an eye on how much data you’re using and how often, and it’s easy to go over budget if you’re not careful. Also, it’s not always the easiest to learn for someone who isn’t super technical. It feels like you need to spend some time getting the hang of things, especially if you just want to do basic stuff quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake helps us manage all our data in one place without having to worry about setting up big servers or dealing with a lot of tech headaches. Before, we were struggling with slow data processing and reports taking forever to load. Now, with Snowflake, things are way faster and smoother.
Provides good data ingestion capability, but should include more AI capabilities
What is our primary use case?
Snowflake is used to create a data lake, and we have a consumer base where we create data. This data is consumed by different consumers and vendors, who have different needs in how they want to use it. We are from the data engineering side, and we put this data from various source systems in this data lake. We put the data into Snowflake and use connectors to connect to the data lake.
What is most valuable?
With Snowflake, we don't need any other ETL tool, which is the primary reason I started liking this tool. In addition to the database, Snowflake also provides ingestion capabilities. Currently, we are only using the database because we already have integrations with the IICS. The solution also provides data engineering capabilities, which we can leverage and utilize in the future.
What needs improvement?
The addition of more AI capabilities in Snowflake would help us more.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Snowflake for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
To the extent I use it, Snowflake is a very stable solution. I did not find any instability with the tool because we primarily use it to create our data lake, and it is available.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Snowflake is a scalable solution. Depending on your needs, you can scale it up or down. I find it quite flexible in terms of scalability. Around 50 users work with Snowflake in my process.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I also used Oracle. Snowflake is easier to handle than other solutions and has many things under one umbrella. I like Snowflake's data ingestion capability the most compared to other RDS and database vendors. In other solutions, you would need to design your integration methods separately. However, if you choose, it's not fake. Data ingestion and data lake creation can be easily achievable with Snowflake.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Oracle is less expensive than Snowflake. Snowflake provides better value at a little higher cost in the Snowflake. RDS is cost-effective but has fewer features than Snowflake.
What other advice do I have?
The solution's integration aspect is good, and all the connectors are in place. I found Snowflake similar to RDS. We use it for both data in motion and data in transit. It looks like the tool handles the data quite securely.
We create ETL patterns. We ingest data from different source systems, and we have to create data pipelines. It would be useful if we could have AI features added to identify what I'm going to do with this data. It would be good if it could look at the data and help me create an automated pipeline instead of me creating a pipeline by myself.
I'm from a retail background. I completed my Oracle DBA training a long time ago, about 18 years ago. I was quite familiar with the Snowflake and relational database concepts since I had already completed the Oracle ops, DBA ops, OCP, and OPA courses. For me, it was a journey similar to when I shifted from Oracle RDS to Snowflake. Although I was quite familiar with most of the concepts, there were some learnings.
Whosoever is in the data field should at least try Snowflake once. They will then realize the best features in the solution and can continue using it.
Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
Cloud data warehouse deployable on AWS, Azure, or GCP with DBT integration for transformations
What do you like best about the product?
The scale-up and scale-down features in Snowflake, that adjust based on workload, save costs. We can run complex queries on large datasets with minimal tuning. The unload feature is very helpful for downstream teams to easily access data. Snowflake's permission control allows us to grant access only to specific users, maintaining strong security. Zero-copy cloning and time travel are standout features that enhance efficiency and data management.
What do you dislike about the product?
As it's pay per use model someone should continuously monitor the compute usage otherwise it can become expensive. I noticed some issues with concurrencies when running multiple large queries simultaneously. It can intergrate with ETL tools like DBT, Airflow but the native ETL capabilities are less.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we migrated from Oracle to Snowflake, it solved a lot of our problems. With Oracle, scaling up our data was difficult and expensive because it required more hardware. Snowflake, helped us scale up and down easily. Also, queries that took a long time in Oracle now run much faster in Snowflake, especially when we're dealing with big datasets. Another big thing is that we can easily handle semi-structured data like JSON, which was much harder to work with in Oracle. Overall, Snowflake has made our data management much smoother and more efficient.
Snowflake is like a lifeline for a Data Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
Snowlake UI is very friendly and easy to use. Snowflake provides many features such as auto scaling, time travel etc which are managed by Snowflake only and Data Engineers do not need to worry about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snowflake is self managed so we don't have much control on it and somtimes cost can be very high if edge cases are not handled properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Snowflake is completey self managed platform means we don't need to setup anything to run our workload thus it saves time and money
